Top 5 carrier oils for your essential oils

Essential oils are most effective when applied with a carrier oil. They are used to “dilute” the essential oil before applying to help “carry” the oils into the skin for maximum benefit. Let's dive into more about carrier oils...

Carrier oils are also beneficial when applying essential oils to a larger part of the body. Like essential oils, different carrier oils have their own unique properties and benefits. It should be noted that carrier oils do not lessen the efficacy of essential oils but rather assist with slowing down the absorption rate, in turn assisting to prolong the need to reapply. Because essential oils are volatile substances (they evaporate quickly), the use of a carrier oil will lessen this effect as they bind the essential oil molecules to theirs.

Reduces the appearance of fine lines
Protects against environmental factors
Minimize UV damage
Easily absorbed by the skin
Promotes cell turnover and regeneration
Uses: moisturizers, serums, lip balms, cuticle balms, salves, sunscreen

fractionated coconut oil
Readily absorbed into the skin
Contains the perfect amount of fatty acids that the hair and body need
Contains natural anti-inflammatory properties
The perfect anti-aging oil (delays the appearance of wrinkles and saggy skin)
Uses: creams and lotions (and many other cosmetic preparations for skin and hair)

jojoba oil
Comes from the seeds of the jojoba plant
Actually not an oil but a liquid wax which closely mimics the sebum in human skin, helping to control its production and doesn't clog pores
Extremely rich in vitamin e
It is hypoallergenic, antibacterial and high in antioxidants
Soothes dry, chapped skin
Can be added to other carrier oils to extend shelf life
Uses: Good carrier oil for massage oils, skin moisturizers, and bath oils

argan oil
Made from the kernels found inside the fruit of argan trees
Protects against sun damage and skin inflammation
Treats a number of skin conditions including atopic dermatitis
Improves wound healing because of its high levels of antioxidants and vitamin E
Has anti-aging effects and nourishes the body inside and out
Uses: Great for general skin care and massage oil

Thicker oil made from avocado fruit
Calms itchy, irritated skin
Heals chapped, cracked skin
Hydrates and moisturizes skin
Known to shield skin from ultraviolet radiation
Uses: Good carrier oil for dry skin remedies and body creams

Golden milk latte

1/2 cup canned coconut milk
1/2 water
3/4 tsp coconut oil
1/4 tsp cinnamon
Raw honey to taste and a drop of each ginger turmeric, cardamom and dash of turmeric powder
