What is the C.O.R.E Course?
It's the required 2-day course you must take and pass in order to obtain a BC hunter number (FWID). A hunter number (FWID) is required to purchase hunting licences in BC.
*Minimum age: 10 years old*

What is the PAL Course?
This one-day course is required to apply for a Canadian fi****ms license or a Possession and Acquisition licence (PAL) for non-restricted fi****ms.
Non-restricted fi****ms are typically long fi****ms used for hunting, target practice or plinking.

Anyone over the age of 12 can take and pass the course. Students under 18 can apply for a minors PAL or wait until they turn 18 and apply for the regular PAL. Parents of youth and those who have a current PAL can audit the course for free.

Hello! My name is Dorian Boswell. I am a local CORE Instructor, as well as Pal/RPAL for the Kootenay and Okanagan Region, and have been for about 20 years. I am also a high school science/math and Outdoor Education teacher. I have 45+ years of hunting and guiding experience, as well as fishing. I also teach fly fishing and offer certification in BC Boater Safety Courses.
I am currently building up my page to advertise for courses which I will be offering in the local area.
