•Can I still tan with a spray tan?

YES, which means you can also burn, so please be diligent to protect your skin with the appropriate sunscreen!

•What kind of sunscreen do you recommend?

SunBum is a very popular, spray tan friendly, brand I like to recommend! It’s also ideal you use the lotion of any sunscreen vs the aerosol.

•Do people get spray tanned before beach trips?

Literally all the time, you have to stay on your moisturizer game!!

•Will it just wash away as soon as I get in the ocean or pool?

Absolutely not, follow the pre/post care tips I send you upon booking and your tan should last a solid 5-7 days while on vacation.

• What do you recommend I exfoliate with?

My personal preference is a wash rag and some liquid soap. If you use any type of exfoliating scrub please fully rinse any remaining oils off before your appointment!

• WILL I BE ORANGE?! I just don’t wanna be orange 🍊

🙃 No you will not be orange, the high quality solution I use has an anti orange formula called Vio-7 making each tan a very desirable shade even on the most fair of clients.

That your period can affect the overall results of your spray tan?
Your hormones regulate your entire body, and when you're ovulating, menstruating, pregnant, or menopausal, hormone levels fluctuate, and your pH balance shifts.
A normal pH of the skin is 4.5 to 5.5, when a woman ovulates, the pH level and moisture level of the skin drops, which, in turn, dehydrates the skin and makes it harder for the tan's DHA to attach to. Getting a spray tan, on this type of skin will result in a tan that doesn't last as long.
Being on your period while you tan can affect the shade it gives off, too.
Depending on your skin's natural exfoliation rate, a normal tan can last anywhere from 7 to 10 days. On your period or near it, be prepared for it to be 20+percent less dark and last between 2-5 days

Girls, tan lines are totally optional!!

Pre care: moisturize 1-3 days prior
Exfoliate 1-3 days prior
Shave 1 day prior

Aftercare: don’t wear tight clothing after your spray tan
Don’t wear deodorant to your appointment

The tan lasts about 7-10 days so it will naturally fade as your dead skin cells shed off, it wouldnt necessarily fade faster due to hand washing but the products you use such as soaps/lotions etc.

The ingredients in the solutions i use are completely vegan so it’s all natural! Enriched with Vitamins A, B, C, D, E, Aloe Vera, Elderflower, white and green tea extract, Coconut, jojoba and meadowfoam oil

24 hours : the amount of time for your tan to be FULLY developed.

Rinse times will vary. When you come in, we talk about what your hopes are and then I give you an amount of time before you rinse.

Your tan will still be developing, even after you rinse. What you’re doing is removing the cosmetic bronzers: what can get on your clothes - You’ll still see some of these cosmetic bronzers come off in your soap shower - that’s okay too!!

Let's talk and DHA (Dihydroxyacetone)

DHA is a carbohydrate that is derived from a vegetable source like beets or sugar cane and when processed it is clear and odorless. This is the main active ingredient that tans our skin (top layer). DHA works with the chemistry of our skin tone and undertones. It was discovered back in the 1920's and Coppertone was the first to market it as Quick Tan in 1960.

Are the Violets, Green, Blue needed in a tanning solution? NO. Even though they counteract reds, pinks, yellow/golden hues on a client during the tan application, they are temporary and rinse off. Those colors are blended into the sunless solution and just like the bronzers washing off after the first rinse and being completely gone on day 2-3, your client is left with the true tan which is from the DHA.

In this photo, we added a few drops of DHA only on her arm, more drops for darker and fewer for lighter. This is after rinse and development. Your client will have a darker tan with a higher DHA.

So.....in all reality and facts, it's not about what color you should put on a client, it's what DHA percentage you should put on them. Keep in mind, DHA is drying to the skin and the higher percentage you go, the more drying to the skin it can be. Too much DHA can and will cause orange.

Let’s talk about uneven fading! These are all photos about 5 days post tan WITHOUT properly caring for your spray tan.

If your tan is fading unevenly, cracking or looks patchy it’s probably because of a lack of post spray care.

When getting out of the shower post spray tan remember: pat dry and moisturize!! This will help the longevity of your tan as well as help with even fading.

To tan line or not to tan line:
If you want to see the difference between before and after the tan line is a great way to do that.
If you are going to be in a bathing suit or photo shoot it might be best to ditch the tan line.

They last about 2 weeks so choose wisely 😉

Q: What do I wear during my spray tan?
A: It truly doesn’t matter what you are wearing or not wearing. This option is entirely up to you and your own personal preference. Majority of my clients go completely n**e and others just wear underwear to show off those tan lines.
Remember I see SO many gorgeous bodies a day & nothing you have is any different from anyone else! I promise that your experience with me will be nothing less than amazing and as always remember you are entering a judgement free zone 🤎
