Neurotransmitters are your body’s chemical messengers. They carry messages from one nerve cell across a space to the next nerve, muscle or gland cell. These messages help you move your limbs, feel sensations, keep your heart beating, and take in and respond to all information your body receives from other internal parts of your body and your environment. Here are different neurotransmitters and their functions.
Though the weather (literally, and metaphorically!) may always be changing - you can be your own rock to anchor yourself through the storm. When the clouds clear, you'll be standing strong 🪨❤
Happy Earth Day!
I can never say it enough to the wonderful people in my life, self care is essential for success. It's important enough to make your daily task list. It doesn't have to be something expensive or an indulgence. Self care is simple.
Self Care: What It Really Is | Susannah Winters | TEDxHiltonHeadWomen Self Care breaks the myth that self care is a wine party, Netflix binge, or pedicure social. Self care is what's needed for your well-being and should always...
I love the fall. It reminds us that sometimes change is hard but necessary for growth. What can you let go of this fall?
Thanksgiving is a time that usually reminds us of the things we are grateful for our families, friends, jobs, etc. Sometimes when we are going through tough times, thinking of the positives in life seem challenging.
There is power in gratitude! It is something that we can easily train our brains to do. Challenge yourself this year to think of the positives you do have in your life. Some people find that writing a gratitude journal helps them to get through more difficult times. It's a great way to keep that gratitude attitude all year long!
I'm grateful for all of you and wish you many blessing this year.
Happy Thanksgiving
One of the greatest challenges for most of my clients is understanding that their experience is unique and how they deal with that is a very individual experience. Judging their situation by how other people heal or have things worse off is never helpful. No two people interpret an event or situation the same. There's too many intersectionalities and individual person experiences.
Remember, this is your experience, emotions and most of all your journey. Stay focused on that and not what the people around you may be doing differently. Keep healing and be kind to yourself in the process.
Just a friendly reminder that spring is here and its time for some good spring mental housekeeping!! Here are some great tips for how you can shed some of those negative things you have held onto over the winter.

Happy Easter to all of you. May this season bring many new blessing and experiences into your lives. Easter is a sign of new beginnings. May this day bring you blessing of love, joy, peace and hope.

While dealing with the stress of tax season it has made me remember the importance of self care. Make peace with your stress by activating you senses.
As a therapist one of the biggest complaints I hear from my female clients is that they feel isolated and without a social group. The pandemic was a major contributor in creating boundaries to social experiences. I decided to create a network for local women to come together. Its called the Kawartha Women's Friendship Network.
In May and June, I will be running several social events where women in the community can come together and have fun! Check out the following flyer. If you would like to attend one of these events in the community or in our beautiful Realign Wellness Centre please contact me for more information.
If you haven't joined the Kawartha Women's Friendship Network here is the link for you to check it out! There are lots of local events, women's health, mental health and mindfulness, and social events for you to check out!

Today is the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. Today, we remember and provide space for Indigenous communities to teach us of the atrocities and genocide that their ancestors and continued generations face. Today silenced voices are heard. Today we mourn for the families of the 150,000 children forcefully removed from their homes to attend Indian Residential Schools or foster care systems that focused on separating the child from their traditions, culture and family.
Every Child Matters...even then.
Remember that what you are going through is unique to you. The same is for everyone else. Even though people share similar experiences we each have our own way of processing things. Don't compare yourself to others. Your healing journey is just that, it's yours.
Wishing everyone returning to school this week a fun and safe school year!
This weekend our world was shaken, our sense of security was rocked and our mental health was challenged. Today, the sun is shining in Peterborough and the repairs to our area are still continuing. I hope that all of you maintained your safety and avoided damage to your homes and vehicles. Please take some time to practice some self care this week. If you are struggling with the impacts the storm has had on your mental health, please feel free to contact me 705-808-1024. We have power at the office and I will be maintaining all appointments from today on this week. If you still don't have power and need to reschedule, please contact me if possible.
Take care of yourselves and those you love at this time.
