Hello Everyone! I am Shannon, I am super excited to become a part of the Healthy Roots amazing team of professionals, helping you reach your wellness goals.

My massage techniques are adaptable to your needs. Reaching all personal goals of treating dysfunctions, too relaxing your nervous system to decrease stress. My passion lies in helping people feel better in their bodies, live more pain free, and helping create more ease in movement for your body.

I am a mother of one amazing 15 year old who I could brag about all day. I enjoy creating in all forms, sewing and textile art are my main medium. As well as creating movement with performance arts and dancing, in my body and with others.
I am also very passionate about sustainability, and preserving the natural world around us.

I hope to meet you soon and help you reach your health and movement goals.

I was also humbled and privileged to sit between two experts in special population care, Dr. Jennifer Ward, and Dr. Danica Brousseau to stress the importance of health for Q***r and gender diverse care in chiropractic and other areas of healthcare across the country.

Okay! When and where!!

I signed up with 🩸 like 14 years ago. When a prominent hockey player my age was diagnosed with while on a hockey scholarship playing for the team.

Mandi Schwartz was and still is one of the most kind and selfless humans I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. A person could get cavities chatting with her, that’s how sweet she was.
Her sweetness, however, turned to pure talent and very little mercy between the whistles. And as a goalie who had the extreme misfortune of playing against her, calling her sweet further shows how her personality impacted literally everyone she ever engaged with.

Even those of us she made look silly between the pipes. ☺️🚨

So today, sitting at Canadian Blood Services, I thought about her for a quick moment and realized…today…I’m sitting in here with the needle in my arm today….of all days.

April 3rd, 2024…

13 years exactly since Mandi lost her life, and her battle, to , and subsequently left a legacy that has allowed countless others to win their own.

A few quick tips from a chiropractor about shoveling habits!

❄️ Buy a shovel with a smaller scoop. The wide, large ones seem enticing, but lifting that capacity over and over will surely land you square in my office.

❄️ Do not wait until the storm is over to start shovelling. Do it a little at a time to reduce the strain on your body.

❄️ Push snow rather than lifting and throwing when possible. If you do have to lift and throw, use your legs and lift small amounts.

⚧️What is gender affirming care? ⚧️

We hear that phrase a lot now. Whether it is people like me talking about offering care that comes complete with affirming practices and safe, welcoming spaces.

Whether it’s from the media regarding access to gender affirming procedures.

Or whether it’s from far-right political pundits that espouse these phrases as political dog whistles in order to push narratives that are legitimately dangerous to q***r kids.

We hear that phrase, a lot now.

Gender affirming care though? Everyone has had it.

Everyone you know. Everyone.

It’s a haircut. It’s your eyebrow girl, your hairdresser, your gym routine, your fitness goals.
It’s your makeup, your name, your pronouns, your facial hair, your razor, your nail polish.
It’s your bra, your binder, your vi**ra, your upper lip wax, your barbershop visit, that hot towel treatment, that hair dye, those highlights.
It’s that breast augmentation, those pec implants, that Botox injection.
It’s that lifted truck, that pink Range Rover, that princess cut engagement ring, that bachelor party.
It’s handsome instead of pretty, beautiful instead of stunning, sharp instead of elegant.

It’s estrogen therapy after menopause, testosterone injections for men over 50, Rogaine, a toupe, that weave.

It’s all the things that make you feel comfortable and elegant out with the girls. All the things that make you feel like one of the guys.
It’s anything that lets you look in a mirror and feel like you. It’s your bulge, your hourglass, your cleavage, your swagger.

But…what it absolutely, unequivocally IS NOT……

it is not surgery for q***r children.

Hey! I'm Danielle! I'm excited to share a little bit about myself.

I have been a Registered Massage Therapist since 2015. And, I am thrilled to be a part of your wellness journey.
I found a passion for massage therapy years ago and have continued to love working with people to achieve their wellness goals.

My treatment style is deep tissue and therapeutic, specifically to target your areas of concern. However, I add in enough flowing relaxation techniques to help ease the discomfort. I try to always create a space and treatment plan where my clients comfort is a top priority.

I am a small town girl and I am an imperfect mom of two littles who are always keeping me on my toes.
When I am not at partaking in my roles as an RMT or mom, you will probably find me watching trash TV, spending time with friends or family hyper-fixating on my current obsession at the time and maybe, once in a blue moon, baking a pan of cinnamon buns.

On November 12, 2022, 25 year old Maiken Cooper of Vancouver, British Columbia was shot to death. 🏳️‍⚧️

🕯️ On November 23, 2022, 34 year old Beckett Noble of Ancaster, Ontario died by su***de. 🏳️‍⚧️

🕯️ On January 16, 2023, 42 year old Aurora Claire Stark of Halifax, Nova Scotia died by su***de. 🏳️‍⚧️

🕯️ On May 2, 2023, 14 year old Hailey Mackenzie Lawson "Bee" of Regina, Saskatchewan died by su***de. 🏳️‍⚧️

🕯️ On May 4, 2023, 51 year old Emily Grace Rawbon of Invermere, British Columbia died by su***de. 🏳️‍⚧️

🕯️ On May 5, 2023, 11 year old Jayden Miller of Edmonton, Alberta was stabbed to death. 🏳️‍⚧️

🕯️ On September 6, 2023, 19 year old Lucy Dawson Stier of Alberta died by su***de. 🏳️‍⚧️

🕯️ On September 7, 2023, 13 year old Jeremy Hillman of Stratford, Ontario died by su***de. 🏳️‍⚧️

These are just the Canadian transgender people who have died (does not include the unreported numbers) since Trans Day of Remembrance (Nov 20) last year.

393 people around the world are dead this year because they were transgender. 393. And that’s only the reported victims. Which likely represents less than half of the true total.

Historically, 2SLGBTQ+ members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), and the Federal Public Service were systemically discriminated against, harassed, and often fired as a matter of policy and sanctioned practice.

The “LGBT Purge” took place in Canada from the 1950s to the mid-1990s and caused tremendous harm to 2SLGBTQ+ members. In the course of the Purge, they were subject to persistent discriminatory, humiliating, and injurious treatment, demeaning their dignity and infringing upon their basic human rights.

CAF members who were 2SLGBTQ+ (or perceived to be) were treated shamefully as if they had betrayed their country and were unfit to serve. (CFAO 19-20). They were expelled from an organization they deeply admired and treated as outcasts.

Rainbow Veterans of Canada (RVC)
The Rainbow Veterans of Canada (RVC) is a not-for-profit organization that was incorporated in 2019 and represented:

- CAF Veteran LGBT Purge Survivors
- 2SLGBTQ+ personnel who joined the CAF during the time of the LGBT Purge but as a result of the Government of Canada’s discriminatory policies and actions were terminated prior to obtaining sufficient service time to qualify as a veteran.
- Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) veterans who identify as le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender, q***r, two-Spirit (2SLGBTQ+)

UR Pride is the organization responsible for bringing the lawsuit against the SaskParty for treading on the rights and freedoms of children in Saskatchewan using the Notwithstanding Clause.

Check in on your work mates. They are struggling right now!

My little niece walking into her first day of Kindergarten on a rainbow sidewalk gives me hope for her future!

On this International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we are to turn our thoughts to January 27. The day that Auschwitz-Birkenau was liberated in Poland.

For some who wore the Star of David, this day meant freedom from certain death. For others it meant the realization that their family members were not coming home with them.

But for the people who wore the pink triangle, today simply reminds us that even in the face of so much death, terror, injustice, indifference, and suffering…humanity could not extend its compassion to everyone that day. The way Q***r people were born was still punishable by torturous means.
