The standard: For a while now, one of the most popular light cycles in the vegetative stage is 18 hours of light per day. This amount of light promotes vigorous stem development, strong root systems, and healthy foliage, and is commonly used in both commercial and home cultivation.

But wait, there's more! Some growers swear by the 20/4 lights schedule for even faster growth, while others experiment with 24-hour light cycles. Some plants like auto flowers show some promise with these longer light cycles while a photoperiod strain may stress under too much light.
