The Bank of Canada made their announcement this morning that they are increasing the benchmark interest to 1% which is a 0.50% increase. This is the most significant rate hike in 22 years.

So what does this mean for you and your mortgage? Well, if you’re in a variable rate mortgage, you’ll see an increase of $24.04 per 100K.

Don’t panic 🙀 this is strictly just a response to inflation and correction of the housing market.

So what are economists saying???

They’re also saying don’t panic! This was expected.

I’ve been reading that they’re anticipating a few more rate increases throughout 2022, but things could settle down by the end of the year and possibly a decrease again.

My professional opinion - if you’re in a variable rate, try and ride it out.
