Let’s appreciate the small details.
Size and layout are usually the first thing that come to mind when thinking about a kitchen. The bigger the better, right?
Well we’d like to challenge that idea. As there is so much more that go into a new custom kitchen.
Materials, textures and colours.
Different sizes with depths and heights.
Last but not least, lighting.
These minor details don’t receive much thought at first but truly create a one of one project when considered.
No custom kitchen will have an identical match as the amount of information and details put into each project, compliments the space but also the clients needs and wants.

***CLIENT REVIEW***
We had the absolute pleasure of being brought on this job with Dovetail Interiors to provide a new kitchen and mudroom for these lovely clients.
But there was one twist ... every contractors favourite deadline ... December 25th.
I think we can all agree that may be one of the most stressful deadlines to meet, expectations are higher than usual and potential let down could be catastrophic. (Being a bit dramatic).
We made it a priority to be in full communication with Jill and Walter all throughout the process in regard to the cabinetry. It's not always smooth sailing but our goal is to handle any issues with proper solutions and communication to deliver on what we set out and promised.
"Under promise and Over Deliver" is what we strive for with each of our clients and their new projects.

Fun fact, our clients originally wanted to go with a safe beige for the kitchen and soft green for the island...
And then they mentioned that they were also considering going dark...and brought up Onyx by Benjamin Moore and here we are.
Absolute home run for everyone involved with this project!

Couple Quick Project Updates!
We are currently half way through 2024 , and we have been busy working away at some incredible projects for some amazing clients!
Most of these projects are complete and just waiting for a few loose ends to tie up, before we do a formal photoshoot and reveal!

Back at it with the custom range hoods.
Don't have the space in the new kitchen to do an oversized range hood? Have fun with it, use an accent colour; maybe one that matches your island or another unique part of the kitchen.
Don't be afraid to change up the texture either. Using a wood texture; is always a fun way to make your new range hood pop!
In this project our clients had a custom mantel over their fire place in the living room which they wanted to use as a reference stain!
So using Wormy Maple on the new hood we were able to provide an extremely similar stain to tie the kitchen in with the beautiful living room.

Late last year we had the pleasure of working with some close friends of ours in helping with redesigning their new home. The house was originally built in the early 2000's and still had the original kitchen!
Most homes built around that time carried this style of layout, they typically have a peninsula, which is still a great addition to a kitchen but most often than they have been replaced with the famous island!
Earlier this year we had the pleasure of delivering their new dream kitchen, we made sure this process was as smooth as possible, as we do with all of our clients and their projects!

Laundry and Mudrooms.
Traditionally unorganized, messy and have a white plastic sink tub with a washing machine and dryer kicking around.
Our wonderful clients wanted something a bit more fresh, fun and yes organized.
So we added some storage to hide the tide, some beautiful quartz countertop to help with the folding and some nice floating shelves that match the main room floor and allows for a bit of decoration!
We also added some extra storage to tuck away boots and store hats and mitts for the kids when they come in from a day of playing outside!
Yes laundry and mudrooms can have some beautiful cabinetry added to make every day living a bit easier!

Traditionally you’ll see a 2” valence that hides the under cabinet lighting.
We wanted a clean look with minimal lines. We incorporated this recessed channel to house the under cabinet lighting, which allowed us to bring the doors down flush with the base of the cabinets, giving it a sexy modern look.
We love this system for under cabinet lighting and believe it will become more popular in future kitchens, especially ours!

Did someone say custom range hood? Some may actually call it The Crown Jewel of the kitchen.
They can be built to any size, most shapes and you have a long list of different materials that can be used to create your new beautiful range hood!
Another potential focal point to your kitchen, if you have the space, don’t be afraid to go heavy and a bit larger than the size of your stove! Make it a prominent piece! Have it compliment the rest of the kitchen or even the island.
It’s a great way to tie everything together and truly make a statement in your new kitchen!

Asking the proper questions and listening to the answers are the most important steps of the design process, to understand how your client will use their new space; and being able to provide a design that compliments their lifestyle is the goal.

Open concept? No limitations? Thoughts of being on a Tropical Vacation? Then maybe you need to consider a BIG @$$ ISLAND to your new kitchen! (See what we did there, vacation, island…)
Trust us, if you have the space to add an island, do it, and go as big as you can!
Not only can you double the amount of countertop space, but add in a ton of functional cabinetry and storage.
Now we know some folks prefer the traditional dining set up, but with our busy lives these days, it’s nice to have a spot to relax, entertain and keep the chef company when they’re cooking up a feast!

Welcome to our latest Pivot Kitchen.
Project: I’m Coming Home.
Take a second to see this incredible transformation!
If you’ve been following along, you know this project was special to us, as it was done for some very close friends and for a very special home.
Built in the early 2000’s it was ready for a change.
What was once a dark , enclosed kitchen; soon became a bright, white, grand open space for this new home.
We wanted to capture the feeling of a Disney-esque Kitchen for our clients as they have a large family, and get togethers are happening every weekend, and of course because they have two Disney Princesses themselves!
We added as much subtle details as we could, from the fridge encasement being 2” proud of the pantries, the 3” thick gables hugging the 36” range, or the oversized custom range hood that sits front and centre!
Our personal favourite is the oversized island, again because this kitchen will be used to bring the family together!
We’re happy how it turned out and excited to hear how much our clients enjoy it!

Do you have two symmetrical windows in your new design?
Have fun with it!
Everyone loves natural daylight, if you can, leave it wide open!
We chose to place the range and range hood in the centre of these two windows, and have the backsplash go right up to the ceiling!
It gives a nice, bright , clean look!

We love this colour, we believe it's going to be a hot one for the foreseeable future, our amazing clients settled on Dark Olive by Benjamin Moore Canada.
We had the pleasure of coming on board and redesigning this kitchen with our friends at Sean Pro Contracting who took on this main floor renovation.
What was once a tight galley way kitchen , with limited storage, lack of counter space and no where to dance; we came in and provided a solution to al of the above issues!
Open concept, triple the counter space, practical and more functional storage and of course a new stunning kitchen!

It’s not always about the amount of storage you gain but how useful the storage you have is.
Our friends at pivato_contracting brought us in to help design and provide the millwork for this job, our clients wanted storage for their shoes, cleaners products, jackets and vacuum!
Again I think we nailed this with the aesthetics, functionality and use of the allowed space and storage!
