🐰 Peter Cottontail 🐰 the name actually derives from a 1914 children's book, “The Adventures of Peter Cottontail” by children's story author Thornton Burgess. The character's actual name was “Peter Rabbit,” and he originated with writer Beatrix Potter, who named the character after her childhood pet rabbit Peter Piper!

✨ While learning to read independently is necessary for a child’s growth and development, there are also many important benefits of reading aloud to your child.
✨ Many parents believe that once a child can read independently, that is the only way they should read. Reading alone and reading aloud are not mutually exclusive. We can do both with our children – and we should! Children of all ages (yes, even teenagers!) can benefit greatly from hearing an adult read aloud them. Research shows that the decline of students’ recreational reading coincides with the decline in amount of time that adults read to them.
✨Giving children something to do with their hands (draw, build with blocks, play-doh) may actually help them listen better - for some kids, information can pe*****te deeper into their brains when they are physically moving around. And, by restricting a child by making them sit still, we are turning them off from reading.
✨research suggests that repetitive reading is actually beneficial to emerging readers. Each time you read your child’s favorite book to them, they are recognizing new words, picking up on language patterns, and developing a deeper understanding of the story.
✨ Life at home gets busy. Real busy. Finding time to fit in a half hour of reading every day seems nearly impossible! Parents feel overwhelmed by trying to add one more thing to their schedules, but it’s okay to read for just 10 minutes here or 5 minutes there. There’s no law that says a chapter must be finished by the end of the allotted reading time. Those 10 minutes are better than none at all.
Racism is such a hard topic to talk about, but impossible to ignore. Discover the answers to some difficult questions - and become part of the solution - with the brilliant Lift-the-Flap Questions and Answers about Racism.
From 'What does racism feel like?' and 'Don't ALL lives matter?' to 'How can racism affect families?' and 'Can we really make a change?', this book tackles challenging questions in a direct, accessible and thought-provoking way.
Published in association with educational charity Show Racism the Red Card, this powerful book explains why racism is everyone's problem to solve, and how we can all be part of the solution.
