Luna is very well socialized and warms up quickly to new people, new dogs, and new situations. She grew up with two young children and a cat in her home. Although Luna’s family worked very hard with her and cared for her extremely well, her family wasn’t able to give her the amount of physical and mental exercise she needs.

Luna is a high energy dog that would thrive in a rural environment (with safety precautions in place i.e a fence, dog run, underground electric fence or handheld system). She would only do well in an urban home if her family is very active daily, and where she won’t be confined at home for the majority of the day.

Luna is easy to handle on leash, very quiet and comfortable in her crate, and eager to please. She is a typical shepherd - she
loves her family and is very affectionate with them, and she is vocal (whines and barks) when excited, startled, or afraid.

Luna has been fantastic with other dogs and would do well as an only dog or in a multi dog household. She can be playful and overbearing with cats, but is not aggressive to them. Luna would do well with children who are not afraid of her size and exuberance.

Everyone meet my newest foster pup “Cardi” or “Cardi B” as we call her!

Although she hasn’t learned how to rap just yet… she does sit, wait for her food, walk on a leash, play nicely with other dogs, has very few accidents, and is comfortable in her crate for periods of time during the day and at night. Pretty impressive for a pup that isn’t even 3 months old!

Cardi is a happy little pup who immediately rushes over to give kisses to anyone she meets. She has had a great start on socialization, naturally entertains herself, and is very respectful of other dogs. She would be a great addition to any family - dogs, cats, kids, etc.

I expect her to be a medium size dog with a medium energy level. Best guess for her breed is shepherd x lab x mix.

Mr Blue and Mr Lime are available and looking for families! They are very similar pups in temperament - both are sweet, gentle, and people oriented. They would be equally happy as only pets or as additions (other dogs, cats, small critters, horses, chickens, etc.). They will be easy to live with labs - medium energy, eager to please, and happy to do whatever you want to do! Before going home they will be well started on potty training and crate training, and will be extensively socialized. They will be vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped. Puppy cost is $2,000 + tax. Both parents are health tested with Embark DNA as well as hip/elbow x-rays, and most importantly are wonderful family pets.

Summit and Cedar had 8 beautiful babies on June 3rd!

I do have a few puppies available (1 female and 3 males). They will be ready to go to their new homes at the end of July.

The goal of this breeding was to produce wonderful family pets - easy to take anywhere and do anything with, relaxed with manageable energies, natural retrievers in the water, and friendly with an eagerness to please.

Physical health is equally important to behaviour, so both parents are health tested - hip/elbow x-rays, brucellosis negative, and Embark DNA cleared. Cedar is a proven stud and has produced many amazing dogs.

This will be a one of a kind litter as I plan to only breed Summit once, and am keeping a puppy myself. I am very excited to see these puppies mature as I know they will all make excellent family pets!

Puppies will be well started on potty and crate training, and will be extensively socialized and handled before going home. They will be dewormed 3X, vaccinated, and microchipped. They also come with a 30 day pet insurance trial, which you must activate within 24 hours of bringing your puppy home to use. Puppy cost is $2,000 + tax.

Bruce is quite the character - he has many facial expressions, his ears are ever changing position, and he has mastered “puppy dog eyes”. He is a friendly young dog who is up for anything. He enjoys attention - pets, playtime, and cuddling up beside you or on your lap if you’ll allow.

Bruce’s energy is very manageable - he is happy to just hang out or join you on an adventure. He is great in his crate and happily goes in for mealtime, resting time throughout the day, and bedtime. He is strong on the leash, but walks nicely with the right walking tools.

Bruce could do well living with another dog, as he has made many friends while in foster care. He isn’t the best at sharing, so any other dogs in the home would have to be good sharers!

A tough read, but a very important one. We need to be kind, compassionate, and patient with our veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and office staff - they are struggling, and are doing a job most of us could never do. I am SO thankful for my amazing vet team who take a huge weight off my shoulders - as I know they will be there to help my babies when they are in need.

Small breeds unfortunately often get a bad reputation! Most of the time these little ones are just misunderstood. I personally love training with my small breed clients. 🐾

Are small breeds more reactive? Yes and no.

While smaller dogs are not, by definition more reactive than bigger dogs, there are a few reasons why they might turn out that way.

Vulnerability to bad experiences, loss of autonomy and lack of empathy are only a few of them.

So how can we aim for less reactivity in small dogs?

- Give them choice whenever possible
- Pick them up less
- Put the same effort in as you would a larger dog by training, socializing and meeting needs
- Advocate for them and prevent bad experiences
