What a privilege it was to attend the Toronto Police Service Black History Month event last night! The TPS presented the First Annual Terry James Black History Month Trailblazer award to the Honourable Dr. Jean Augustine. What a way to celebrate these two amazing, trailblazing, accomplished black women! Terry was the first black female to have full duties as a police officer in Toronto. She was my mentor and is the absolute reason I am where I am today. Standing on the shoulder of giants. Special shout out to Community Services for being such a gracious host!

I’m happy to announce that today is Big Brothers Big Sisters Day across Canada! I am a very proud board member of , an organization that builds thriving communities through mentorship. The evidence shows that facing prolonged adversity creates toxic stress in the brain that can negatively impact development. When our youth have the support of a mentor, these risks can be reduced or even avoided, and they can reach their full potential. To me, an opportunity to unlock potential, and develops the mentor and mentee. What does mentorship mean to you? Amazing work by 12 Division - Toronto Police Service and Toronto Transit Commission in their Stuff the Bus Event! It's heartwarming to see the number of children and their families that will receive assistance this holiday season. It's a great example of how NCOs are truly ambassadors for the Toronto Police Service, working collaboratively with many organizations and residents to make a better place, especially over the holidays. The organizations that will receive assistance are too many to name here but include local organizations and families recently arrived from the Ukraine.
Volunteer Appreciation Night at 12 Division - Toronto Police Service! Volunteers are the heartbeat of the community and we appreciate everything they do for us all! We were also happy to congratulate Auxiliary PC Donald Abbott for 35 years with us!
It’s a great time for those considering law enforcement as a potential career. The service is hiring! Posted • Had some fun today at Headquarters spreading the word that we’re hiring hundreds of police constables over the next year. Learn about why our officers chose policing as a career at www.TPS.ca/careers or ask a police officer yourself says if you have empathy and a willingness to help others, becoming a police constable might be right for you.
