VISCERAL MANIPULATION

The purpose of Visceral Manipulation is to re-create, harmonize, and increase proprioceptive communication in the body to enhance it’s internal mechanism for better health.

Visceral Manipulation treats a persons functional and structural imbalances with an aim to effect their musculoskeletal, vascular, nervous, digestive, and lymphatic dysfunctions.

A common treatment can include treating the organ(s) through:
-mobility (treating the fascial tissue that surrounds the organ(s)
-motility (treating the movement of the organ(s)
-contacting neurovascular points (blood supply and innervation to organs)

Visceral manipulation can help with IBS, constipation, acid reflux, neck pain, endometriosis, bladder incontinence, anxiety, stress and so much more!

I will be away as of August 28 for about 3-4 weeks! I will potentially be back around September 18 for Manual Osteopathic Therapy, Craniosacral Therapy, Visceral Manipulation, Lymphatic Drainage, and Myofascial Release appointments ONLY!

Have you ever wondered how CranioSacral Therapy works? 🧠

Using a soft touch, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system, such as the bones and spinal fluid in your skull all the way down to your hips! It has been shown to improve the functioning of the central nervous system, as well as many other systems of the body, such as digestive, musculoskeletal, respiratory, circulatory, and more.

What is CranioSacral Therapy?

•CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Using a soft touch, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system, which has been shown to improve the functioning of the central nervous system, as well as many other systems of the body, such as digestive, musculoskeletal, respiratory, circulatory, and more. CST has also been shown to help with the physical components related to such somatic conditions as Post Traumatic Stress, depression and anxiety.

I figured I would re-introduce myself since it’s been a while…

Hi, my name is Jordan Belanger, I am a Registered Massage Therapist and a Manual Osteopathic Therapist! I graduated from the Manual Osteopathic College of Canada in October of 2021 and got my massage diploma in June of 2020, both with honours with distinction and I am also part of the Manual Osteopathic College of Canadas faculty!

I became a Massage Therapist and Manual Osteopath because I am passionate about helping others, I’ve always wanted a career where I could make a difference in peoples lives and help others feel better, Massage Therapy and Manual Osteopathic Therapy gives me the opportunity to do that!

As a Manual Osteopath, I am here to help facilitate your bodies healing by using gentle, hands-on techniques to treat problems within your body and help you function better!

I love treating using Manual Osteopathic Therapy and many of its modalities within my massage practice as well to treat a wider variety of conditions and symptoms you come in with that massage may not be able to treat on its own!

What can a Manual Osteopath treat for someone coming in with headaches? Examples in pictures and description below!

▫️Temporal Release: This can help to release restrictions within the skull bones to help your spinal fluid flow properly!

▫️Corrections of the spine: When a spine is out of alignment this can cause some pain and restrictions in the tissues and the nerves that come out of the spine which can cause headaches! A correction is light and similar to what a chiropractor will do, but without the popping and cracking!

▫️Treatment of your organs (lungs): By using Visceral Manipulation, we can treat restrictions of organs like your lungs that can be pulling on connective tissue in the neck causing headaches!

▫️Treatment of your Lymphatic System: Your Lymphatic System primarily deals with protecting you from infection and disease, but when inflamed or swollen, they can take up more space which can restrict tissue movement and can cause headaches! Have you ever been sick and had swollen lymph nodes in your neck and have found it painful or hard to turn your head? It could possibly be because your lymph nodes are swollen and the fluid is stuck! Manual Lymphatic Drainage can help!

▫️Treatment of your connective tissue(Fascia): Your fascia is connected to EVERYTHING in your body; bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, organs, nerves and other things! Since your fascia is connected to everything in your body, sometimes with muscle tension or misalignments in your spine can cause restrictions in your neck and can cause headaches!

Please keep in mind that these are just some ways a Manual Osteopath could treat you if you came in with headaches! There are many other/different ways an MOT can treat headaches based on what we find during your assessment!
