When our son first got his wonderful insulin pump T-Slim) at 10 years old, he really wanted to refuse it forever because he was so frustrated when it got in the way of him playing with his friends on the field at school. It rattled in his loose pockets, the tubes snagged on his friends’ clothing and sometimes flew out of his pocket onto the ground. The solution of was born out of this crisis and now we are sharing it with you! Our garments have many pockets that are designed to secure a pump, receiver or phone or even extra hypo treatment for kids and big kids alike! Check it out!
Our Boys (4-14) and Teen Boys / Mens Bike Shorts are the coolest way to rock your insulin pump. With pockets for your pump, receiver or phone or extra hypo treatment, they will keep your devices from falling out on the field, getting in the way of your best plays. Wear them as underwear or as bike shorts, your choice.

This is the time of year for Track and Field, Sport Day, Fund Day etc,, a fun time for kids but anxious at time for parents. Many D-parents accompany their children during these events because routines are so varied, diabetes management can more complex than usual. Teachers, who are wonderful, are often too busy on these special days to always be able to be present. Here are some tips that we try to follow with every sport day, extra water..,like two bottles, determine if and how much to reduce basal rate on activity time, make sure hypo treatment is on the child’s person (ie not in their backpack that has been thrown under the team tent, 100 ft away), check D-bag night before and restock with extra CGM, pump supplies, glucometer, Glucagon or Baqsimi and extra cooled insulin, charging cord and portable charger for pump and phone. Make sure notifications are on on their pump and phone so they will respond when you text them about a reminder to treat a low or high. Finally, take a big breath and know it’s impossible to be perfect, and the race of life they are running is worth it all !! You’re amazing mom and dad!!

He loves soccer, but now he has an insulin pump...how do you keep his pump secure, so he can play free...just like he did before diabetes? Pump Pockets were designed to solve this problem because we believe kid's with type one diabetes should NEVER have their play free movement impeded because of diabetes.

BREAKING NEWS, MARCH 27, 2024
If you are currently using 10 mL vials of Humalog® and Insulin Lispro, you might want to check your supply of insulin and plan to restock sooner rather than later.
On Monday, March 25, 2024, Eli Lilly announced that two of its products will be in short supply in early to mid April, 2024. They state the following in their latest press release:
“The 10 mL vials of Humalog® and Insulin Lispro Injection are or will be temporarily out of stock at wholesalers and some pharmacies through the beginning of April. We are continuing to manufacture 10 mL vials of these products and will ship them as soon as we can. In the meantime, all other Lilly insulin products – including Humalog and Insulin Lispro Injection in prefilled pens (KwikPen®) – are currently available in the U.S. We are in ongoing contact with the FDA.” (2)
They also state:
“We recognize that any supply challenge may cause a disruption in people’s treatment regimens, and we are moving with urgency to address it. Anyone experiencing difficulty in getting their prescription filled should contact their healthcare provider to discuss switching to the same insulin in a prefilled pen or other insulin treatment options. Additionally, patients may check other pharmacies in their insurance network for available supply. Patients who need insulin immediately and cannot access their healthcare provider for an alternative treatment option should seek emergency care”.
I've written a blog article on this situation. Link in Bio.

To all our American 🇺🇸 friends as you celebrate Thanksgiving this weekend , I remember our first Thanksgiving with family, the first year after diagnosis...not fun... as my husband and I scanned our son's plate and scrambled numbers on our calculators, googling nutrition labels and guesstimating boluses. I wish I'd had a sheet like this at my disposal at the time. If you want a printable version, the link is in our bio for a short time. Happy Thanksgiving!
On January 23rd, 1923 Banting, Best, and Collip were awarded the American patents for insulin. They sold the patent to the University of Toronto for $1 each. Banting notably said: “Insulin does not belong to me, it belongs to the world.” His desire was for everyone who needed access to it to have it.
