Don’t make the same mistake everyone else is making with tunnel vision.

In a tough job market, it’s crucial to be an expert in one area, while having a good understanding of other supporting fields. This is because employers are looking for people who can wear multiple hats and think through solutions creatively.

Take, for example, one of the community members, Ijeoma (pictured below).

Ijeoma had substantial of Project Management experience from top Nigerian tech companies like Interswitch Group. As a newcomer to Canada, she knew she needed to stand out. She invested in understanding Canadian users and designing product experiences.

She applied to SkillHat’s Product Design (UI/UX) bootcamp and earned a $10K scholarship into the program. Shortly after becoming certified as a Designer, she landed a position as a Project Manager in a Canadian Design Agency!

With AI and robotics taking over many tasks, the most vital skills today are creativity and empathy—the ability to understand the true needs of others and identify viable solutions.

To build your creativity, you need to expose yourself to different environments, fields, and ways of thinking. Never stop learning. Never stop networking. Never stop building.
