Carleton University Stem Cell Club

Stem Cell Club aims to improve the quality and quantity of membership on Canada’s stem cell donor database.

Our work improves the chances that patients in-need of stem cell transplantation will find the one match they need to save their lives.

Shelby MacPhee, age 28, was given the news on July 28 that she will need a bone marrow transplant due to Myelofibrosis Grade 3.

She is now at home with her loving family and 4-year-old son, awaiting a match for a bone marrow donor.

If you are between the ages of 17 and 35 please register today at Blood.ca/Match4Shelby to be a potential stem cell donor.

🔷 A cheek swab kit will be mailed to you.

🔷 You must be between 17-35 years of age to register.

🔷 Not everyone who registers will be matched to a patient and asked to donate, but each registrant provides hope for those waiting.

Hi everyone,

The Stem Cell Club is actively searching for young, ethnically diverse men to participate in a focus group to learn their perspective on TikTok as an educational resource about stem cell donation.

We are specifically looking for participants who are non-Caucasian males, between the ages of 17 and 35, in good general health, and are living in Canada.

Participating in this study requires a total of 90 minutes of your time and you will receive a $25 Starbucks or Amazon gift card upon completion.

If interested, please see the attached poster and email for more information and/or to sign up. Thank you!

Savannah is a 19 month old girl who has been diagnosed with Megakaryocytic Leukemia, a rare and aggressive form of blood cancer.

Savannah and patients like Savannah don’t have a match within their families so they have to rely on the generosity of strangers to consider donating their stem cells to help them fight the disease they’re suffering from.

TOMORROW, MONDAY FEBRUARY 10TH FROM 9AM-1PM IN THE RESIDENCE COMMONS LOBBY, stop by our stem cell drive to learn more about stem cell donation and to add yourself to the Canadian Stem Cell Registry!
