About Us

The March of Dimes Canada DesignAbility® Program utilizes the ingenuity of skilled volunteers to solve everyday challenges experienced by people facing physical barriers. DesignAbility® volunteers work with people of all ages to understand their specific challenges and provide unique design solutions that are not available in the open market. Custom-built devices and modifications to existing products are engineered to help people overcome barriers related to mobility, personal hygiene, and daily living, as well as to assist with activities undertaken for school, work, recreation, and social interests. Volunteers consult and work with occupational and physical therapists to create truly accessible solutions. Projects completed through the DesignAbility® Program help increase people’s independence and allow people to live more fulfilled lives.
