With Halloween coming up, it seems fitting that October is also Fire Prevention Month.

We are saddened to learn about the devastating fire overnight at Hazel Trembath Elementary. As someone who was born and raised in Poco, this hits close to home and we have been looking at ways to best help our community. While the district will work with their insurance on the rebuild of the school, teachers have lost all the supplies and materials that they put so much time and their own money into to provide to their classrooms and the students have lost any personal items and supplies they had at the school.

Montia would like to raise funds for the teachers and students and will match donations received up to a predetermined amount. If you would like to contribute, please e-transfer to [email protected] or reach out to us personally to arrange a cash or cheque donation. If any of our friends with businesses would also like to join us in our efforts to match donations received, please contact Sarah to arrange.

All funds will be held in trust and given directly to the Hazel Trembath PAC (we have been in contact with the Hazel Trembath PAC Chair) for when they’re ready to receive and distribute the funds directly to the teachers and students.

Together, as a community, we hope to come together to help everyone affected by this upsetting loss. Thank you in advance to anyone who decides to help us in our effort to raise funds for the Hazel Trembath community.
