HEAD LICE!!!
Every parent dreads hearing these two words especially if it's your kid.

I didn't love Copaiba the first time I inhaled its aroma. Actually, it took a few days of smelling it and now I am REALLY loving it.

What is Copaiba oil you ask? It comes from the resin of the Copaiba tree, grown in South America. Copaiba has been used medicinally since approx. 1625 for the natural treatment of health concerns like bronchitis, chronic cystitis, chronic diarrhea, hemorrhoids, also as a powerful antiseptic and expectorant for respiratory tract problems, and as an internal anti-inflammatory for urinary tract issues, as well as an external anti-inflammatory agent for all kinds of skin problems. I bet this is contradictory to the meme's you read on social media..."don't look back, you aren't going that way."

If you never look back, how can you see how far you have come? Taking a pause to reflect back on where you have come is an important part of staying motivated.
Sadly, we live in a society where we are constantly striving for more and measuring ourselves against other peoples lives so we never feel that we can celebrate because “I could or should be there not here”
I want to challenge you today, to pause and think of where you are today and take a look back to where you were a year ago, 6 months ago and even last month. Celebrate the steps you have taken. Give thanks for all that you prayed and hoped for and are now seeing those things manifested in your life.

While it is important to not live in the past, it is very beneficial to reflect on how far you have come.

I still remember the night I had a conversation with my husband about starting this company. We brainstormed company names, logos, the look and feel we wanted and most importantly our goal behind Honest Oils. NEVER in all my life, did I see myself as a business owner. A year later and here we are with some fun projects in the works and a huge vision for the future. I am definitely looking back and reflecting on the last 10-12 years of my life that has endured everything from disappointment, illness, trauma, to coasting through life and living complacent. But today I stop, reflect on all of that while I celebrate marriage and children, living on the water (another dream of mine) to now learning the ins and outs of running a business. I am looking back and celebrating the big things and the little things because each step matters and keeps me moving towards more.

Not so “fantastik”…

A 2010 study published in the Current Opinion in Allergy and Clinical Immunology showed that common household products exacerbate and cause new onset asthma, cause immune dysfunction can trigger dermatitis - look out for preservatives like methylisothiazolinone, which is often found in laundry products marked as "natural"

Citrus essential oils make great swaps for toxic house cleaning products as they disinfect, fight bacteria and microorganisms in your home, remove residue, neutralize odours, and detoxify the air.

Hello 41!

You may think I’m crazy for saying this but this past year has been THE.BEST year for me personally. I wasn’t dreading my 40th year at all, which surprised me considering when you hit 40 you are considered “over the hill”. For me, hitting 40 was permission to finally settle in to who I am. To acknowledge my dreams, goals, strengthens, likes and dislikes and stop trying to force myself into a box of someone I am not. I launched a business that totally caught me by surprise, enrolled in a course, wore my Birkenstock’s and cowboy boots unashamedly and joined a tribe of the freaking best gals I could have ever imagined to learn, grow, laugh and cry with. I have never felt more me and happy with who I am than I do in my 40’s. I believe the best is yet to come. I believe there is more in store and I’m excited to see what this next year holds.

Walk a mile in their shoes...

I fell into the comparison trap the last week, measuring myself against other business accounts, placing my worth and the success of Honest Oils by what I see other brands doing. “They” say comparison kills creativity and that’s definitely been the case for me. I have asked myself what’s the point? There are other brands that are so much further ahead-what can I possibly have to offer they is different from them. And down the spiral hole I went. I have had to remind myself the last few days that I don’t have the whole picture. I haven’t walked their journey, I have no idea when they started, how long it’s taken them to get to where they are now, all the challenges and roadblocks they have had to face, endure and work through.
I’m a planner. I want to know all the details. How it’s happening?
how long will it take? What’s needed to get there? How much will it cost?...

Like this path, life winds and bends, has light beams and shadows, unexpected surprises and possible a roadblock along the way. It’s so friggin’ cliché to say this but enjoy the journey, right? This is not easy for me. I have a vision and I want to get there now! Like a kid on a summer Saturday about to hit up Canada’s Wonderland and the anticipation of getting there, knowing what’s waiting is so thrilling but you feel like you’re waiting hours for your parents to pack the cooler and get moving.

I’m moving forward, but when I look back and see where I came from, I’m proud of myself for all I have accomplished. For all I never imagined I could accomplish. I look back and smile at where I have come from, knowing that there is purpose in where I and The Honest Oil Co. is headed. I pause and boss my thoughts back into alignment, speaking truth that there is a plan and purpose that’s laid out for me and I do not need to compare myself to anyone.

I’m proud of what I have built so far and will continue to bring quality luxury oils at non luxury prices, so that everyone can have access to their health benefits.
