Okkkaaay it's been a while since I did a snacky snack Sunday's , and it's simply because I have been so busy that I havnt actually been treating myself to any snacks properly on a Sunday because I have no time to make them 😂
However , last Sunday I had tacos 😍 and to me a taco is perfect option if you want some mexican but not the extra kcals!
The average taco rap has 150kcal and if you don't go overboard with all the extras, there's no reason why a taco can't actually be a pretty healthy snack .
Throw in some lettuce, chopped tomato , cottage cheese ( I use it instead of sour cream etc, less kclas and full of protein and you don't even notice the difference) which ever meat you fancy and perhaps a little hot sauce if you like the spice in your life ! And bipity Bopity Boo, you got yourself eating a taco 🌮.

Happy bloody Tuesday everyone!
As a follow up to my post from yesterday, I thought I'd pop on here and list some techniques for weight loss and keeping fit which do not take place in a gym !!
Did you know that 30 minutes of:
*Playing frisbee burns around 100kcal
*Horse riding burns 130kcal
*Swimming burns 200kcal
*Fencing burns a whopping 250kcal
* Gardening burns 150kcal
* S*x burns an average of 3.6 kcals a minute SO GET YOUR BACK INTO IT 😏
The list goes on and on but I just wanted to give you guys a few examples of ways to burn calories outside of the gym !

MONDAY MOTIVATION 🤙
Where do you find your fitness ?
For most of my life I have found my fitness in the weight section , under the squat bar or in a group class environment.... Untill this year !
After returning to the gym for the first time in 2020 last week, I took some time to reflect on how being back made me feel and how keeping fit over the last year has made me feel. . .
And it turns out , that although I LOVE the gym and will always find myself back to one , I have actually enjoyed finding other ways of keeping fit this year whilst traveling and home workouts have been something that covid has taught me I do ACTUALLY like...
For the first time in my life I have managed to maintain a physique in which I am happy and healthy and not completely wrapped up in how I look ..... AND IM LOVING THIS NEW ME.
So from now on I'm going to find my fitness not only in the gym but in other ways, such as hiking , running , home Hitt workouts , paddleboarding , surfing ...and I'm going to cut back my workouts because during lockdown I have been doing 6 workouts a week ... Because the rest of the time I've been sitting on my ass eating snacks ! Now I'm working again , I'm gonna go back to three or four workouts a week and spend my weekend up the hills !
So this Monday I want you all to think about where you find your fitness ?? Because the gym isn't for everyone but that doesn't mean that fitness isn't for you , it just means you havnt found what works yet !
MONDAY MOTIVATION ☺️
How do you speak to your reflection ??? 🧐
Is she/he your friend ?
Because they should be . . .
Self love and body confidence should be something that we all have, but sadly that just isn't the case. . .
How many times have you stood Infront of the mirror and commented on your appearance in your head .....
" God look at that cellulite"
"No wonder noone fancies me"
"Ergh my arms are disgusting "
"I can't even look at my face , those spots are horrible"
"I wish I wasn't this skinny"
I have been there , and so have many others , because we are all our worst critic. . .
But something a mental health nurse said to me a few years ago really made me re-evaluate how I spoke about myself to myself and to others ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️
If that was your friends reflection, would you say those things to them ???
And the answer unless your a complete tool , is NO. You would never say hurtful things to someone you love about their appearance because :
A. You wouldn't want to cause pain or hurt to someone you love and care about.
B. Their flaws arnt even flaws to you and because your not THEM you didn't even notice them in the first place.
So why ... If we are meant to love ourselves do we criticise and curse and focus on our insecurities or flaws instead of our strengths and our favourable traits ...
Because self love is hard, and confidence doesn't come naturally to everyone !
So this Monday I have a little game for you to play... I want everyone to think about what they LIKE about themselves, what part of your appearance do you like ?
And then think even more about what you like about your soul? What qualities do you have that you would appreciate in another person . . .
And if that all sounds absolutely terrifying and you can't find ANYTHING you like about yourself , imagine you were your friend , and your friend was feeling the way you are? What kind words would you say to them to help them see the light ????
Say those words to YOURSELF.
Talk kindly about yourself and forgive yourself for mistakes you make... A little self love really does go a long way ! ❣️
TECHNIQUE TUESDAYS 💃
HOLA SENORITAS 🤗!!
It's Tuesday which means another technique video to save you from yourself 😉.
If your on a glute building mission , chances are that kickbacks are going to be a part of your leg days! And if so , this one's for you !
On the left you see nice controlled kickbacks , with no swinging motion. You will notice I lift my leg untill it is in line with my back , and my head is in a neutral position. I'm focusing on glute recruitment making sure it's my glutes doing the pulling not my lower back.
On the right you will see me using a swinging momentum and throwing my leg as high as I can possibly get it ( many people think this will get more glute recruitment , however it actually just strains your back.)
I came up with technique Tuesdays to help show people common mistakes I see at the gym.... One of my main focuses with my clients is form, untill form is good we don't proceed to 'heavy' lifting . . And it should be that way for you too!
Being in a gym environment can be very competitive, and it's important to remind yourself of the differences between your fitness journey and someone else's, everyone goes at different places, so please don't try to compete with everyone else !!

Not everything in life has to be work, staying fit and sticking to routines. In fact , I believe a happy life comes from quite the opposite. BALANCE. 🧘.

It is so important to take time for yourself during your busy week , even if it's just five minutes with your favourite pod cast or book....

Mental health and self love are SO IMPORTANT when it comes to fitness . . . If your heads not in the right place , the chances are you body's not going to be either ....
°
So this Monday I'm here to motivate you to do something for YOU !

Have a bath , watch that documentary that you havnt had time to catch yet , pour yourself that glass of wine, make it to the top of that mountain. . . OR just lie down , put on some whale sounds and CHILL THE HELL OUT....
°
We are all so busy being motivated that we sometimes forget home important it really is to stop.

These figures are NOT ALRIGHT. Society needs to start talking about mental health issues and SUPPORTING people who cry for help.... It's not attention seeking when someone says they are having suicidal thoughts or self harming ... It has taken a lot of strength for the person to actually say those words out loud!
So this Thursday, reach out to your friends your loved ones, the guy that always drinks at your pub ..... Check in with people. Make sure they are okay. It's a lonely place when struggling with mental health , and 2020 has been an incredibly challenging year for some.
And if you feel like your struggling ? ITS OKAY TO NOT BE OKAY. Please reach out to someone , talk, get support , YOU ARE NOT ALONE. ❣️
From one mental health warrior to another .. I know how it feels to only know sadness and fear. I know how it is to think there is no other way ....
BUT THERE IS and I promise I am here for you if you ever need me.. getting help was the only thing left I had to do two years back , and now looking back I'm so incredibly proud and grateful to myself for fighting my demons and coming out the other side. It wasn't easy , but I can 💯 say it was worth it.
Take care you beautiful bunch and please, be kind, you never know the gravity of what someone else is feeling inside.

TECHNIQUE TUESDAYS 💃
Lets talk about rows for a minute !
Above you will see a comparison video on single arm rows. . . ⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️.
On the left you can see nice and slow , controlled reps. My spine is aligned and I am not straining my neck ..and you can see a noticeable pause at the top of the movement , where I really focus on mind muscle connection and squeeze my shoulder blade in. 💃
On the right you can see me slamming out rows, probably with DJ CAMMY on in the background, paying no attention to my form and using a lot of swinging motion.... Although slightly exaggerated for teaching purposes... You would be surprised how many people I see rowing like the right . .

MONDAY MOTIVATION 🏋️
HAPPY BLOODY MONDAY EVERYONE🐣
It's the beginning of another week and I started it off with a 4am milking shift on the farm 🐄. The moon and stars were still out when I started my first few tasks!
This Monday I thought I'd tell you guys a wee trick I have for making mornings a little easier when I'm up early... And it can be transferred to any kind of job, early workout or gym class that you want to smash but your bed is just so warm !
PREPARE THE NIGHT BEFORE !!!!!
This might seem so obvious but yet so many people ( including myself untill recently ) struggle to get going early doors.... and doing a few simple things the night before really cuts down the time required and the faffing of your morning routine!!
Last night before bed I :
1. Looked out my clothes for the morning and left them at the bottom of my bed. ( Litrally woke up and stepped into them)
2. Filled the kettle with enough water for my morning coffee ( then all I need to do is flip the switch and not wait too long for the whole kettle to boil)
3. Packed my work bag with my breakfast and water and left it by the door ( banana, apple and some nuts because eating so early in the morning makes me feel a bit dodgy sometimes)
4. Put coffee in my cafetiere, so it's ready to just add the water.
5. Popped some milk in my cup and placed it back into the fridge.
6. Organised the kittens food for the morning .
And this morning ? I woke up , stepped into my clothes , flipped on the kettle, put the kittens food on the floor , brushed my teeth whilst the kettle was boiling , made my coffee ....and left.... All in ten minutes. 💃.
So next time you have an early start, rather than dreading the morning when your alarm sounds and your stumbling around in a sleepy daze ... Organise yourself so you know your mornings gonna be a breeze!

Technique Tuesdays 🏋️
SQUATS !!!

I have done a technique Tuesday on squats before , but it's an exercise I see being performed wrong allllll the time .
°
One the left you will see me throwing out squats, not focusing on form and you can see at the bottom of each squat my bum rolls under me , because I havnt engaged by core or positioned my pelvis. This means my glutes are also not fully engaged and I am putting strain on my knees and spine...
°
On the right you see much more controlled squats. I position my pelvis, engage my core and then slowly move through the motions of the exercise (hip hinging properly).. . You can see the difference at the bottom where my pelvis stays in line with my spine and my glutes are fully engaged. . I also push my knees outwards on the way back up to get full engagement of my glutes.
°
Squatting is SUCH A POWERHOUSE move. When performed correctly it recruites your abdominals , erector spinae, hip flexors and all the muscles in your legs .....
°
But when performed wrong. . . All your looking at is burnt out quads or possibly a sore lower back 🤷.
°
It's not just newbies at the gym that get this wrong! I see many long term lifters who still have a bum tuck when squatting ... So next time your at the squat rack , take a minute or two to check out your form before starting your sets....

HEY YOU BUNCH OF LOVLIES!!
It's Monday , the beginning of another week , the day that sometimes sets the tone for the days to follow. . .
Today I thought I'd share with you something I do myself every morning to keep myself feeling positive and mindful....
DAILY AFFIRMATIONS AND GRATITUDES......
When I was at my lowest point in my fight against depression , my councilor suggested that I try this daily when I wake up to remind myself of the good things I have and I am!
Fast forward two years and it's still a tool I use! ... And I promise it really does help you stay In check throughout your day !
So if your feeling a little sluggish today or anyday, your lacking motivation or just generally feeling a bit meh.... Try writing down three things your grateful for and three things you want to be that day ....
Today I am grateful for :
- Getting to move to Canada
- Being healthy and fit
- Nearly being done with quarantine
And today I want to be:
- kind
- motivated
- loving
It not only reminds you of three small things that's are GOOD IN YOUR LIFE , it also sets the tone for the day of how you want yourself to feel/ act. . . . And at any point your feeling a bit wobbly... Returning to your list can remind you what you wanted out of your day ... It has really helped me to get myself back from the edge of a downward spiral a few times.
So this Monday TELL ME , what are you grateful for ?? And what three things do you want to be/ to achieve today ?
Because saying these things out load or writing them down makes them much more real than when you just think them.❣️.
Finally got round to looking though my go pro footage. Turns out I'm actually pretty bad at using it and record nonsense... however I've strung together a wee video of my short but very fun trip to Bali in 2019. A trip I shared with my sister, our first holiday together ❤

With gyms reopening soon in Scotland , and most of the gyms reopened in England ... It's an exciting time for many of my followers .... I myself know how excited I am to hit the gym here in Canada once I'm free of quarantine ....
But for some of you , you might be returning to the gym feeling a little lost . . Your either new to the gym and trying to start a new journey ( and you have NO IDEA where to begin)... OR your returning after nearly 6 months off , no exercise over quarantine and your feeling a little lacking in motivation... even if you know what's going on but you just want your own personal cheerleader to keep you feeling pumped .....

It's time to stop with the excuses , with starting next week , it's time to stand up and take responsibility for your goals! It's time to find the happier, healthier more BALANCED you that you know is inside ... But you just don't know how to get out !

Technique Tuesdays 💁🏼♀️
Hi you bunch on lovelies! This technique Tuesday is slightly different to our usual exercises techniques we talk about on Tuesday ....
This week I decided to show you this handy little hack for when your cooking eggs ...
As weird as that may seem , this literally has improved my lunch times so much ... If you are anything like me you eat a LOT of eggs ... And like them runny , not solid in the center ....which means peeling them whilst they are still warm and soft for a salad is pretty difficult. . . I always end up with egg everywhere and shell left in my yolk .....
UNTILL I learnt this handy little technique.. simply add some lemon ( either juice or slices) into your boiling pan , and your egg literally falls out of it shell ....saucy egg...., TAXI! 😂.
Give this a go next time your having eggs and let me know if it helps !

Hi guys bear with me whilst I explain why I'm showing you a piece of toast ...
It is not the toast that's I'm drawing your attention to , it is the DELICIOUS bright pink goodness ontop that I made totally fresh yesterday in less than half an hour !
BLACKBERRY JAM 💁🏼♀️ OOOH MY GOD IT IS GOOD.
And as always , it's super simple !!
1️⃣. Pick blackberries . ( Either off the shelf and the shop , or you can go bush woman like me and pick them all by hand)
2️⃣. Wash out will cold running water.
3️⃣. Place berries in a pan , and squash them so the juice escapes. (Add sugar at this point if you would like)
4️⃣. Boil berries for at least half an hour , untill you see the mixture gelling and becoming slightly jam like ...
5️⃣. Empty into glass jar , and store in fridge over night to set.
BIPITY BOPITY BOO.... JAM. 🤙.
Some people like to add sugar to their jam as it increases the yield and makes it easier quicker and apparently sweeter... However I chose to use just the berries and my jam is so nice, and totally healthy !!!
So if you have a spare half an hour , and fancy giving your own jam making a go. .. I promise it's much easier than you would assume and the results are DELICIOUS 😉

Here's a wee video on bicep curls.... An exercise that seems SO SIMPLE yet I see so many people doing it wrong ....
°
I always talk about mind muscle connection during exercises, because it is SO IMPORTANT. It's all very well going through the motions of an exercise but if you are not actually engaging any muscles ... All your efforts are for nothing.
°
When it comes to bicep curls, your elbows should be tucked into your sides.. the movement should be coming from the bicep contracting, not motion from swinging or from your shoulders.....
°
And if you cant do the curl without swinging ? Lower that weight right back down. . . Master the technique before throwing on weight and grunting it out in the weight section like Rambo. . . .
°

Everytime I pack my rucksack , kiss my friends and family goodbye, and tell them I'll 'see them soon' It fills me with fear, anxiety and doubt ... but whenever I have settled into my new adventure, I always realise why I push through the hard goodbyes .... So I can continue living my life the way I want ..... 💃
So push through whatever it is that is challenging you right now, because if your truly want what your aiming to achieve , you will 💯 realise it was worth it in the end ❣️

TODAY HAS BEEN A GREAT DAY!

I'm super pumped this week and my motivation is sky high and that's down to the amazing people who I have had the pleasure of working with the last four weeks.
°
I created my 28 day challenge programme for people who were new to fitness or looking for a way to get back into living a healthy lifestyle. . . I wanted to offer a way to help people in a group environment which didn't break the bank, and was a good alternative to a 1:1 programme .

The reviews are flowing in this week and I couldn't be happier with all my challengers and what they have achieved in 28 days.

Reviews like this is literally what I live for. Personal training has always been my passion and being part of changes in people's lives just brings me SO MUCH FRIGGEN JOY.

SNACKY SNACK SUNDAYS 🧁

PINECAKES ? say whaaat ?
°
Everyone knows how much I love pancakes , I am forever finding new ways to recreate my all time fave Sunday breakfast.
°
So today I tried this and it was an absolute winner.
°
1. Slice up some pineapple thinly.
2. Fry (lightly) pineapple on both sides. (Medium heat pan)
3. Make favourite pancake mix ( today I went for basic: banana, egg and some protein powder and cinnamon)
4. Pour small amount of mixture into pan, fry untill nearly ready to flip, then place a slice of pineapple on the middle.
5. Flip pinecake and continue cooking till golden brown.
6. Serve with chunks of pineapple, cinnamon and some honey too.

And there yah have it folks. Another healthy yummy pancake option for y'all to try!

FAST FRIDAYS 🤸
Hola people ✌️ , it's Friday which means another fast workout coming right at Yas!
Here's a wee b***y band pump that I finnished off today's workout with.
1️⃣. Fire hydrants
2️⃣. Squat step in and outs
3️⃣. Hip thrust with pulse
4️⃣. Kick backs (band round ankles)
5️⃣. Frogs
All exercises can be done four times ten reps each 🍑.
It's not as difficult to build a b***y as you might think... With the right nutrition, some glute focused exercises and CONSISTENCY (3 GLUTE WORKOUTS A WEEKLY) you will see a difference in a matter of weeks...

FAILURE - why are we all so afraid of it ?

How many times have you passed on something out of fear of failing ?
How many times have you not started something? Put it off to next week? Told yourself it was a stupid idea anyway .... All because of the fear of failing. . .
°
Now I KNOW, noone wants to be a failure as society has told us oh so many times how bad that is ... However , what if we look at failure slightly different....
°
What if we see it as something THAT HAS TO HAPPEN... Bear with me one minute ...
°
In any learning journey be it creative, fitness, work related ... There are always going to be failings... AND THATS OKAY ... because failing at something doesn't mean you have reached the end of the road- it means you have learnt a lesson about something and you can now try it from a different angle... Failing at something doesn't have to be the be all or end all of the situation... It can be a reflection, a moment to grow , a moment to look at things and remap.... A hurdle which you have to overcome to continue on your journey .

So instead of seeing failure as something that shouldn't happen ... Start to see it as something that is expected . . It doesn't mean your on the wrong path ... Or you have to totally give up .. it just means that the angle wasn't right or that you actually needed to learn a lesson before progressing forward.
°
Failure does not mean the end of your journey , it can mean the start !
°
Start seeing failure are something that has to happen for you to grow and STOP taking it so personally, you came , you saw, you tried ... .but next time you will conquer!!!
°
And for the record , I have "failed" at many things in my life.. but looking back, the failings took me to the exact place that I needed to be !
°
YOUR NOT A FAILURE . YOU ARE A LEARNER ❣️

So get out there , try it , fail at it , and then GROW from it , failing can actually be pretty good after all 😉.

I DO! But do you do them properly ??

One of my pet peeves with this exercise is seeing people roll their shoulders during the movement .... I have heard many reasons for why people do this .. and most of them are nonsence . . .
°
Above is a wee video of how to do your shrugs if you want to isolate your Traps and perform the exercise with reduced risk of injury to your shoulders...
°
Also girls , just a wee heads up , having shoulders which are strong and sculpted DOES NOT make you manly. It makes you balanced and fierce ♥️
