Learn As You Grow - Gardening with Novice Nat
I am a complete and utter novice when it comes to gardening, but my dream is to create a self-sustaining garden. This is my learning journey, warts and all!
Our land and location means the usual methods don’t fly here.
Let’s talk about mullein!
When I first arrived in the Okanagan, I thought, heck, gotta get rid of this invasive species!
Over time, I have come to realize it’s the least worrisome invasive species out there. In fact, upon research, I found out the crazy benefits of mullein as an expectorant and antispasmodic (meaning it is great for the respiratory system, those with asthma and lung problems and even swollen glands).
And so now I have come to love it.
Take a watch if you want to know how to make mullein tea and salve.
How to make mullein tea and salve (Part 1) After looking into the benefits of mullein, I decided it was time to harvest it and make tea and salve. It has so many health benefits!
Let’s talk peas.
We live in a very dry climate, but that didn’t deter the peas.
With so many peas I decided, rather than freeze them, I would let them dry so I have some to plant next year.
It’s super simple to do. Watch the video for more info.
