Week 6 of our amazing summer camp at is in the books, and we’re gearing up for the final week! This week was a whirlwind of fun, starting with a trip to for a special viewing of Despicable Me 4, which our participants absolutely loved. We kicked off our final tournaments, including our very own , where the tutoring team clinched the gold in a thrilling finish!
We were also honored to welcome MPP , a long-time supporter of , who shared invaluable insights on health, medicine, and politics, and awarded certificates to our LITs! On behalf of our staff and future leaders, we thank you very much Dr.Adil!
We also had the pleasure of welcoming back a alumni .linton, who was a special guest in .giamos workshop for our LIT’s! Abeir shared his experience from the start of Go Green Youth Centre when it was first created, and how it furthered his career after it! Thank you Abeir for taking the time out your day to share your journey with our future leaders!
As we step into the last week, our heartfelt thanks go out to our incredible staff, volunteers, participants, and sponsors. Your support has been the cornerstone of our thriving community, and we’re excited to continue this journey together. Here’s to many more amazing summers ahead!
Week 5 of camp kicked off with intense competition in our to determine the semi-finalists! Our staff went all out in Just Dance, Staff vs. LIT dodgeball, and solving camp riddles to reclaim points from the mischievous mole. The momentum kept rolling with a delicious pizza lunch for everyone thanks to our friends , and a mouth-watering breakfast on the grill to fuel our hardworking staff and volunteers!
Daily activities included morning hard-ball cricket, ping pong, basketball, yummy poutines in our cooking program, and much more! We also offered advanced tutoring for participants aiming to boost their academics before school starts.
We also had one of our alumni Monami stop by as a guest of .giamos and share her inspiring journey through our camp and onward with our LIT’s!
We wrapped up the week with a Best Buy gaming experience () thanks to Store #617 for bringing the fun and ensuring smiles and laughter all around!l going into the long weekend! 🎮
As we approach our final two weeks, don’t miss our closing ceremony on Thursday, August 15, 2024! Week 6 starts with a movie trip for all campers (Reminder: camp is closed Monday, August 5th for Civic Holiday).

A little recap from this weeks GT20 trip!
Despite Toronto losing to Mississauga, that didn't keep our spirits down for long! Our campers got to experience a live cricket match, taking the fun and learning from the grounds of Go Green Youth Centre to a professional game. 🏏
We would also like to recognize GGYC's cricket staff and our LITs for their hardwork in ensuring our campers got the best experience.
We just wrapped up week 4 of our summer camp and are thrilled to have crossed the halfway mark! The excitement only grows as each week passes. This week, our campers enjoyed a dynamic range of activities: from hard ball cricket and taco cooking classes to competitive soccer under the sun, fun basketball drills, and lively music sessions. We also delved into computer programming and offered advanced tutoring for those eager to get ahead academically before school starts.
Our GOLYMPICS, brilliantly organized by Michael Ma, saw its third game Archery, and the competition is heating up! Additionally, our Leaders in Training had the privilege of a thought-provoking discussion with Jerome, a guest of .giamos , who shared invaluable insights about law and its processes for those aspiring to pursue it after high school.

Week 3 at Summer Camp 2023 has flown by, and we’re already diving into Week 4! Time really does fly when you’re having fun! This week was packed with excitement as we kicked off our own “GOLYMPICS” with thrilling events like the office chair relay and water-bucket challenge. The rain couldn’t dampen our spirits—we had a blast with board games and making delicious sandwiches. Plus, our morning hard-ball cricket program keeps the competition fierce! Thanks to all our amazing supporters. We can’t wait to see what Week 4 has in store! 🚀
On July 15th, World Youth Skills Day, had the privilege of welcoming MP , MP , and Minister for Women and Gender Equality and Youth of Canada, .ien Marci, the leader of Canada Summer Jobs and other youth initiatives, alongside Rob and Michael, who provided GGYC with 14 Canada Summer Jobs EACH this summer. All 3 of them play a significant role in making our summer programs run smoothly with the opportunity they provide our youth every summer. is very grateful and appreciative for their visit and unwavering support over the years. Our staff, volunteers, and campers at had a fantastic 2nd week! We took advantage of the beautiful weather to enjoy cricket, soccer, and delicious smash burgers for our hard working staff and volunteers. This summer, we added impactful numeracy and literacy programs to give that extra academic boost to our participants. We also have the wonderful .giamos volunteering her time to help our LITs with their résumés and preparation for their careers every Thursday. Big things are coming—thanks to all our supporters and sponsors for making this possible every summer!

Our Story
The Go Green Youth Centre (aka Go Green Cricket and Sports Field) is the result of a $2.5 million dollar Phase One and Two revitalization of the Valley Park Middle School backyard and adjacent Hydro land.
The project includes an irrigated sports field, accommodating soccer, baseball and other sports as well as Canada's first illuminated cricket field. The field's storm water drains to a bioswale, wetland, urban forest and butterfly meadow. It is also surrounded by a multi-sport court, amphitheater-style seating and cricket and baseball practice cages. Go Green offers free youth-led programming in sports, eco-arts & other recreational & educational activities to neighbourhood youth ages 7 to 29 years old. Youth coaches aim is to break down barriers and overcome social isolation by developing the site and programming as richly as possible to include or promote sports and recreational skill building, eco-arts & eco-literacy, mental health counselling, leadership, employment training, volunteerism and part-time youth employment opportunities.
The Go Green Youth Centre, as an environmental project, seeks to teach and demonstrate stewardship over water, land and nature by encouraging the Thorncliffe Park and Flemingdon Park communities to become part of the Toronto Region Conservation Authority's Living City as “People of the Don."
The project seeks to bring the beauty and sustainability of the Don River watershed back up onto the schoolyard and Hydro field. It does so in partnership with the Valley Park Middle School Ecoschools program and with the cooperation of numerous community agencies.
