Sweet Souls began as a craving for sweet & juicy gulab jamuns 🤤 Since going vegan years ago, we missed the traditional Indian treats we grew up eating.
It’s such an honour to see our customers enjoying our plant-based & refined sugar-free versions. We want the current and next generations to get excited about Indian food that’s healthier, flavourful and environmentally responsible.
If you'd like to try the sweets out for yourself, Mar 6 is the next delivery/pick-up dates. Link in the bio.

“With recipes passed down from generations, mithai are more than just food...these traditional sweets contain memories, stories and bonds of love with every bite.
That said…the sweets we consume without second thought are contributors to growing health problems.
But how can you possibly give up your favourite barfi or the satisfaction of gulping an entire gulab jamun? In this case, you can have your ladoo and eat it, too. Raman Deol, one of the founders of Sweet Souls, points to a healthier alternative in her business that offers plant-based and organic Indian sweets, with just the right amount of natural sweetness.”
Thanks for the feature, team Darpan!
Meet our new Masala Chocolate Cake 🍫 if you've tried it, let us know what you think in the comments 👇🏽👇🏽
We thought to ourselves: what happens when chocolate meets India?
The result is a gf choco cake soaked in jaggery masala syrup. With hints of star anise, cardamom, fennel and cinnamon 🤤 The creamy dark chocolate icing is the finishing touch. Our chocolate is made from scratch so it's fresh as can be.
3 of these cakes are included in our NYE mithai box. Link in the bio to order!
Big hugs & love to those who ordered for Dec 19 >>> all proceeds were donated to sponsor a family via the Farmer Support Project by 🌱
Canada imports millions of dollars worth of spices every year, with a large portion coming from India. As a company that uses many of these spices in our sweet creations, we simply cannot turn a blind eye towards the staggering rate of suicides and injustices against farmers in India.
And that’s why Sweet Souls is committing to a yearly donation to continue sponsoring a farmer family. The funds will be used for their children’s education, guidance/career prep, and for any basic needs.
If you'd like to sponsor a family yourself, head over to and find out how 💓
We support farmers, always. ✊🏽We'll be donating all proceeds from our Dec 19 Holiday Box in support of the protests happening in India right now (check for more info).
Without farmers, there would be no Gulab Donuts, Carrot Halwa Cakes or any of our sweets for that matter. So many of the spices and sweeteners we use come from farmers in India who aren't paid nearly enough for the grueling work they do. Some are severely in debt which had led to many suicides across the country.
We'll be donating to help relieve some of these debts and hopefully some of the mental pressure that comes with it. Link in the bio to order.

We’re so pleased to offer sweets for Guru Nanak Gurpurab to celebrate the birth of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism.
As a child, I remember celebrating special holidays like this one at the Gurdwara. I would impatiently sit while listening to the satsang…and my rumbling stomach. Afterwards, I’d quickly head downstairs to the Langar Hall to check out the sweet treats the kitchen had lovingly created for the day. I vividly remember the taste of the creamy kheer, delicately flavoured sweet rice and crunchy jalebi’s.
Fast forward to today, and I’m so grateful to offer you our plant-based versions of the Indian delicacies I grew up eating. Every time I create a new recipe or make a batch of sweets, I think of my Naniji (grandmother) and all of my ancestors that passed down these recipes so we can enjoy these sweets today.
Even though celebrations may be quieter than usual, we’re offering sweet boxes for delivery or curb side pickup so you can celebrate with your family, or send a gift to those you can’t visit at the moment.

"This was the best dessert I've ever had. Seriously!"
"I'm amazed that it tastes exactly like Gulab Jamun!" .komal_
The Gulab cake was by far the most intimidating creation to date. How could we recreate one of the most popular & loved Indian sweets with no dairy, refined sugar, wheat or deep frying?!
It took several months to get this recipe just right, and it's truly a special treat. Over and over again, our customers tell us how it's the best dessert they've ever had! 😲🤯
This recipe comes in a cake and/or as donuts in our Festival Mithai boxes. Follow the link in the bio to order a box for Nov 29. ❤️
Just around the corner is the festival of lights...and sweet treats! Special order your Diwali box for Nov 13 or 14.
Each box includes 3 tried, tested and loved sweets including soaked Gulab Donuts, cardamom-spiced Carrot Halwa Cupcakes and melt-in-your-mouth Besan Burfi (drooling just thinking about them).
The flavours are rich, and the textures are decadent. One bite and you’ll be in love - we promise😉

Carrot Halwa Cake: now available to order online!
Carrot Halwa is traditionally an Indian pudding made with carrots, nuts, sugar, milk and spiced with cardamom. We’ve taken this comfort dish and turned it into a plant-based comfort cake that's kinda like a warm, cozy hug from your sweet grandmother.
It’s rich. It’s decadent. And it’s not your average carrot cake. Those who aren’t carrot cake lovers are often surprised to find that they love this cake!
DM us to have the carrot halwa cake make an appearance at your next gathering.
I can’t help but take a trip down memory lane for Navratri season.
Growing up festivals like this involved a young Karthik reluctantly getting up early for a cold shower, dressing up in new clothes and following the lead of my grandma and aunts for a day of puja ceremonies, temple visits and special, special treats.
Thinking of these memories decades later, the earthy fragrance of incense lingers. The stillness during the pujas has evolved to deep meditations and the taste of the prasad (sweet offerings for the gods) has evolved into Sweet Souls.
We're so excited to prepare a special batch of sweets on Oct 24th for the festival of Dusshera / Vijayadashami. Link in the bio to reserve yours.
Our next delivery date is Oct 24, just in time for Dussehra for those who celebrate ⭐ Enjoy a platter (pictured above) with your family or gift a box to a loved one. Link in the bio.
This will be the last run where we offer free delivery, so take advantage!
If you have a question, don’t hesitate to DM us. Happy weekend sweet souls xoxo 💓
Dreamy 🌹Rose Cream that tops our Gulab Cake. It's cashew-based with a hint of maple syrup and rose essence.
Usually we find icings are so sweet that we can't enjoy any of the flavours of the cake or eat very much of it before feeling sick.
Not with this icing though! It's the perfect amount of sweet that leaves your stomach feeling light and satisfied.
Good news: you won't get sick of eating this cake.
Bad news: you won't get sick of eating this cake.

"Your sweets taste better than the original stuff." 👈🏽 From one of our lovely customers we met along the delivery route yesterday. Their family loves the flavours of Indian treats because it reminds them of home. Unfortunately, conventional options don't work for them because they're vegan and refined sugar-free.
This is what inspires us to create our sweets and make them available to you. Ready for that special occasion, party or unwinding. We love preserving traditional Indian flavours while making them clean, delicious and accessible to all sorts of diets. ❤️
PS. Pictured is our Carrot Halwa Cake, one of the first additions to the Sweet Souls family. We've been told it's love at first bite. You can try it in our assorted desserts box or order it as a beautiful 3 layer cake for you next celebration.

“Everything was SO.FRICKEN.DELICIOUS.”
“We are STILL processing how good everything tasted. Hands down, the BEST desserts we’ve ever had. Every combination, every ingredient was just impeccable!”
“Your treats are damn good.”
It means the world when we get reviews like these from our customers! We spend months and months developing each and every recipe, and making the tiniest tweaks until we feel it’s close to perfect. It’s always a great feeling when our customers feel the same way 🙃
And we’ll be delivering again this Friday. If you want to try our plant-based sweets for yourself, be sure to get your order in by Wednesday evening so we can make a fresh box, just for you!
Growing up in an Indian household, celebrations were aplenty. Birthdays, weddings and holidays always meant big family gatherings, with lots and lots of food! 🎂🍩🍰
As I started becoming more health conscious and eating plant-based and refined sugar-free, I found there weren’t many options for me at family gatherings anymore. And when I did indulge, the excessive refined sugars and flours left me with low energy and junk food cravings…which would then lead to more indulging and cravings.
So before launching Sweet Souls, I thought: what if celebrations had nourishing Indian treats, that were still irresistibly delicious? Mindfully prepared with the best ingredients and even MORE flavour and satisfaction than the regular treats?! That’s our dream world. 🤩
Celebrate love & joy with thoughtful treats
Time and time again, our customers have told us how much they LOVE our Carrot Halwa cake (swipe right ➡️).
So, we decided to make it a little bigger, so you can enjoy more of it in your next order. Plus, we’ve also added New Gulab Donuts (drool), and Besan Ladoos/Burfis so you can enjoy all the Indian classics in one box.
Oh, and did we mention that we’re delivering for FREE this Friday?! Get your order in for July 17. xo

As we shift back to our regular content, know that the movement is in our hearts, on our minds and most importantly, in our daily work. For us, there’s no better place to start than our own family and friend circles. We’ve spent the last couple of weeks having these important conversations about racism and anti-racism and we’ll continue do our part in our community 🖤
After reading countless stories, articles and posts, I've (Raman) decided just reading and feeling bad is not enough. It's time for ACTION. So here's what I've done so far:
1. Signed alllll the petitions. This is the least that everyone of us can do.
2. Donated to the Black Voters Matter Fund that helps register Black Voters and fight voter oppression. Because as Barack Obama says in his recent article, Americans "must organize and cast our ballots to make sure that we elect candidates who will act on reform."
3. Becoming aware of and dismantling white supremacy thinking/culture that's so deeply embedded within me. I've linked an amazing article in our bio that we can all read and reflect on.
It's time for all of us to contribute and become aware of our role in this larger problem and donate to the causes who are fighting the good fight. 🖤
We are SOLD OUT for Mother's Day. Thank you for all of the support ! We'll be posting the next order dates in the coming days, including some new creations. If you'd like to be notified of future order dates, DM us your email so you don't miss it. ❤️
A big thank you to and her mom for today’s inspirational ! Read on for their story 👇🏽
"My mom is my hero. She is the force of a lion with a heart of gold.
She grew up in the British/Scottish community of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her culture and upbringing clearly runs through my veins. A mix of latin fire and passion for life, devotion to family and friends, and liveliness and excitement in all we do!
We lost my Dad when I was 1 year old to a tragic helicopter accident in Vancouver. My mom became a widow at 26 years old, with 2 babies in a foreign country. She mastered immense courage to lead our family as a single mom in Canada and later on in Argentina and the US. Since I remember, my mom has shown me how to continue to move forward in life; with faith, love, courage and determination, no matter the circumstances.
When growing up, my Mom became the embodiment of both a mother and a father to me and my sisters. Leaving no room for us to ever feel like something was missing. Throughout my life she's shown me the unlimited power that lies within all of us. Where there is profound love and purpose, nothing is impossible.
Every time I’ve faced adversity, my mom has been there for me to lovingly support me and guide me through. When I went through Architecture school for 7 of the toughest, most sleepless years of my life, my Mom would show up to University with Argentine pastries and coffee for my entire class who was sleepless with me at the lab. I ended up graduating with an A+ on my Architecture Thesis, and I would say, a huge merit of that goes to my Mom!
Growing up at home, there was always room for fun, dance, music and celebration. We've created so many family signature moves, dances, and jokes. This is something that I look forward to carrying on in my own life and the family I get to create with my husband.
The way she has lead me and my sisters through life, with such integrity, determination and inner strength continues to leave me in awe. She has taught me what it is to truly love, unconditionally."
Let's shower Janine and her mama with gratitude for sharing. Leave some 🌺🌺🌺 in the comments below xo
