So after making that beautiful Bleeding heart Maple Trivet a couple weeks ago. It got me thinking. I had some maple from a family table i disassembled some years ago. It had a maple veneer over true 1" ply for the top. Made by my mom's Uncle. Circa 1950's. The table top was done. It had been refinished and could not be done again. Make a great work bench. But the under structure was solid maple, some was 4" thick. These pieces were reused in "Doug" as my bed legs. A long piece was donated to a friend for a camper shelf. And today , cut up a long piece. Not wide enough for crib boards. But perfect for Trivets. ( pot holders , for those not familiar) So this Maple i named, " Uncle G's Maple" . Here is what i ended up with . Limited batch of 7. First oil finish done , leaving over night to absorb.
Personalized crib board for a friend.

Project 3 is a new high end crib board. This one im keeping for myself. Again using "Bleeding heart Maple". Its currently in the ready for the crib board.
Project 2 is complete . Fairly simple but very expensive , " bleeding heart maple." It has such beatiful grain, it is just oiled . Its a table Trivit. Made from a left over cutting (wish all my cuttings were this beautiful!
Some new projects in the works.
First one is a drift wood knife rack. Its been planed , and sanded. I think we will go with a Matt verathane clear.
