Another great day was had!

It was a great first day at the WMHA Summer Camp! ☀️ 🏒

Well tomorrow is the big day, and we can’t wait to see you all! Today we want everyone to meet the owner and operator of Northern Ice Hockey, Matt McCarthy! For the next two weeks, he will be the kids’ On Ice Leader. Matt shares a passion and energy for the game which help make him a great coach!

Born and raised in Whitehorse, Matt is a Whitehorse Mustangs Alumni. He has spent the last four years coaching U18, U15, U13, and U7 age groups.

Before he began his coaching career some of his hockey achievements include;

When he’s not working, Matt enjoys golfing and spending time with family. We know the kids are going to learn a lot from Matt this summer!

Alright everyone, it’s time for us to introduce you to our On Ice Leaders! First up, we are pleased to announce Josh Tetlichi to our roster.

Josh, originally from Old Crow, moved to Whitehorse in his youth. He is a Whitehorse Mustangs Alumni and played for the Kelowna cheifs KIJHL. Josh is a talented goalie and well-rounded team mate. We know the kids are going to learn a ton from Josh this year.

Tonight we want everyone to meet our Dry Land Coach, Rachel Pettitt. We are so excited the kids get to experience Rachel’s enthusiastic energy and positivity that she brings to the team!

Rachel is currently enrolled in her Personal Training course as well as her Group Fitness program. She’s also an extremely talented figure skater. Just some of her achievements include;

BC/YT Female athlete of the Year
Government of Yukon Award of Excellence

We can’t wait for the kids to work with Rachel this summer!

Just 3 more days until we get back on the ice with the kids and we are so excited that this is happening! Today we want everyone to meet Group Leader, Joshua Schenk. Some of his hockey achievements include;

Listed for the Red Deer Rebels

Some of his hobbies include hiking and roller blading. We can’t wait for the kids to learn some skills with Josh this summer!

Today we want everyone to meet Emma Silbernagel! Emma will be another one of our Group Leaders for this year’s WMHA Summer Camp. Some of her hockey achievements include;

When she’s not playing hockey, Emma enjoys running, fishing, and hunting. We can’t wait for the kids to work with Emma next week!

Hello everyone! This week we’d like you all to meet our Group Leader, Ryder Twardochleb. Born and raised in Whitehorse, and playing for the Bantam AAA team. Some of his hockey achievements include;

Other than hockey, Ryder’s hobbies include dirt biking and fishing. We can’t wait for the kids to work with Ryder next month!

👏 a big congrats to Gavin McKenna!

Hockey Yukon is proud to share another success story of a Yukon Hockey Player.

Congratulations to WMHA alumni player Gavin McKenna on being granted Exceptional Player status. The review process was administered by BC Hockey evaluating McKenna’s potential in the areas of hockey skills, academic ability, and his mental and physical maturity.

Gavin is currently demonstrating his skill and talent at RINK Hockey Academy in Kelowna.
