It’s about colour, mark making and form. Here’s a calming example from our artist Leslie Anderson.
Reverie 2020
Acrylic on canvas
36”x48”

Lesley Anderson is a multi-media artist currently living and working in Victoria, BC, Canada. She has called the West Coast of Canada home for most of her life, studying at Emily Carr University in Vancouver and working as a printmaker at an etching studio on Granville Island. She spent several years in Montreal and abroad in France while completing her Master of Fine Arts with Concordia University.

Her work is informed by materials and process, the formal properties of painting and the relationships between colour, mark making and form.

Available online:
Anda Kubis
Lucid 1
Archival print on paper
Edition of 3
36”x36”

Have questions? We’ll love to hear from you! DM or email us at [email protected].

Anda Kubis is a recognized Canadian abstract painter and Associate Professor at OCAD University. She works in expanded digital and large-scale oil painting. As an artist and educator, Anda is committed to aesthetics and creativity as they positively impact human flourishing and quality of life.

Evocative of idyllic landscapes or microscopic imagery, Anda’s abstract paintings provoke perception and conjure a wide range of associations. She uses colour to reflect an entirely contemporary world – one that is seen with light yet shaped by the invisibility of our digital tools. Attractive and at moments destabilizing, Anda’s paintings toggle between data and the material realm, just as we all do in order to participate in contemporary life. Informed by the tenets of Modernism, and their criticisms, Anda’s work emerges from her love of painting combined with a desire to elevate daily experience.

Anda Kubis has shown widely in North America and Europe. Numerous public and private collections have acquired her work, including: ScotiaBank, Capital One, RBC, TD Bank, BMO Art Bank, Cenovus Energy, Inter Pipeline – Calgary, Keg Restaurants, Nordstrom, Aimia, The Westaim Corporation, Rodin Law Firm Litigation Counsel, and the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development.

Jana’s social realism pays homage to the East Coast Realists celebrating everyday life through her collage of imagery to create a ‘real’ scenario through a natural process of intertwining the personal and societal.

A colourful stylized oil painting by artist Tim Fraser.
Canopy 2020
Oil on canvas
36”x48”

👉 follow us for more Contemporary Canadian Art!

For years Tim Fraser has been exercising his painterly instincts along the Stanley Park seawall by composing endless combinations of shapes, line and colour – giving this beloved Vancouver landmark its due treatment. As a motif the seawall can be seen as a symbol of leisure, physically framing the landscape to suggest a possible ethnology of Vancouver’s active culture. Through his practice, Tim intersects painting and walking as meditative pastimes, his pictures delving into a formalist abstraction of feeling. Morphed into a serotonin-soaked haze of idyllic colour, Fraser’s imagination evokes the pleasure of navigating a sun-drenched, candy coloured world, where one need only consider the sun glancing off the path in luminous swoops and curves.

New Arrival:
Jennifer Hornyak
Being Green with pink 2021
Oil on panel 16”x16”

Jennifer Hornyak is known for her vivid and distinctly textured paintings that blur the line between figuration and abstraction. Drawing inspiration from her surroundings, she creates work that is both intimate and universal. Through both colour and texture, Hornyak builds a structure for each painting that emanates a still life motif.

Born in England, she studied at the Grimsby School of Art before coming to Canada. For more than forty years, her work has been exhibited in prestigious galleries across North America, at international art fairs, and in many corporate collections.

Hugh Kearney
Second Pipe
Mixed media on paper on canvas
31.5” x 22.5”
Hugh’s paintings are a blend of hard core modernism, landscape observations and First Nations attributes. To honour his Mother and Grandmother, he acquired his certificate of Indian Status in 2017. He is part of the Maliseet Nation. He has been using First Nations elements in his work for the last several years: use of traditional colours of black, red and white and a bit of cross hatching.

Here’s a couple of limited prints by Sean William Randall. Both measure 30”x30”, and they are archival prints backmounted on aluminum.

Canadian born, Winnipeg based painter Sean William Randall’s dynamic oeuvre depicts a man whose brilliant colour sensibility coupled with incisive awareness has made him one of Canada’s most interesting painters working today. In 1992 Randall left his career as an architect to dedicate himself to painting; this brash confidence is evinced in his work where one minute he demonstrates a profound love for Canadian landscape painting and the next moment setting the tradition on fire by painting flaming cars streaking across the pastel prairie sky.

Holding onto the last days of summer; here’s artist Judy Cheng’s painting titled “Summer”. It’s acrylic on paper, and it measures 23” by 30”.
DM or email us at [email protected] for more information.

Judy Cheng’s paintings are, in a sense, the antithesis to prevailing notions of landscape painting. She doesn’t depict rolling hills, grand vistas, peaks and clouds, rather, she offers a study of what the landscape is really composed of.

A recent 48” x 36” painting from artist Tess Paul available on our platform.

In her latest works, Paul’s personal visual language emerges in undulating rhythms of line and lucid colours. Her hypnotic flow with the fluorescent punch of Kim Dorland or Tom Thomson expresses the hyperconnectivity and psychic intensity of the unknown that lies at the heart of nature. In approaching the sublime, Paul routes us through dreamlike landscapes to sensuous pacifying effect.

Honored to visit the talented artist Tiffany Blaise at her studio in Vancouver heritage Chinatown. Beautiful landscape paintings with gorgeous ink brush marks and finished with oils and cold wax. Link to view her paintings in our bio or at onlineartgalleries.ca.

Blaise’s paintings unite the physical landscape with the world of the mind. “My art practice is a journey rooted in the exploration of thoughts and nature. I want to portray the connection between our inner nature and the landscape that surrounds us.”

Check out our virtual online exhibition featuring composite photographs by Kevin Lanthier.

As human activity alters and controls more of the earth’s surface, wildlife are forced to adapt. Some species are displaced from these areas, some live at the fringe, and others become full-time residents of what we tend to think of as “our” spaces. As their behaviour adjusts, it can seem as though these non-human neighbours of ours take on some of our own patterns and characteristics, reflecting our own nature back to us.
