Positive Movement Equine Bodywork
Emma Baldwin EEBW. Ceritified and Insured equine massage therapist.
So I dont think anyone knows the reason why I chose the name for my business (with help from my good friend krista Wright). I wanted it to represent two very important horses that have been in my life, Powerplay and Mocha so using the first letter of each name my friend came up with Positive Movement.
There is actually a third horse Rohan that I wanted to incorporate as well but unfortunately couldn't make that work.
I've been fortunate to know, ride and care for hundreds for horses but these three changed my world, my outlook and were/are my reason to grow, learn and develop ❤️
Cutest client of the year so far!!
Unfortunately this little sweetie suffered a loss of a friend, so we just wanted to make her feel special and give her some support.
Also really worked through her shoulder area as she has some slight conformation concerns.
She absolutely loved the whole session and had so many releases it was great to see ❤️
Next in my tool kit is the red light, having used this personally after some significant injuries I love this product!! It's also cat approved which my cat lovers will know is a big deal 😂😂
There are lots of different versions of this therapy available, I personally have the according to gospel lights. Just be careful if purchasing to look for the products using different wavelengths to really target all the tissue.
Here is a description from the website about the technology behind what is happening:
We know from the research that light therapy helps promote tissue regeneration, reduce inflammation, increase circulation, and relieve pain which aids in maintenance and recovery.
LED light therapy is really a way to help the body heal itself. The lights have specific wavelengths that are absorbed by a photo acceptor, cytochrome c oxidase within the mitochondria of the cell. The energy (photons) from the lights increases the energy within the cell and that speeds up the healing process. The lights must be specific wavelengths and must be delivered at a specific dosage. Using both red and infrared lights is beneficial because the wavelengths are absorbed by different depths of tissue. Our Equine & Canine Light Therapy Pads use two specific wavelengths that research has shown to dramatically increase the rate of healing. The two wavelengths are in the visible red and near infrared spectrums. The visible red is effective for stimulating acupuncture points, releasing trigger points, treating wounds and infections. The infrared wavelength (not visible), which penetrates deeper, has been shown to be effective in helping heal soft tissue injuries, joints and muscles.
Aside from my massage techniques, some clients will see me utilize other products and equipment. It's times to do a run down, showcase and explain exactly what these therapies are doing.
I'm going to start with the Centurion, absolutely love this blanket. And while there may be other similar products on the market, Centurion was established in Calgary which was an important factor for me in making a final decision.
Below is an explanation from the company about the properties and benefits of this therapy.
Invisible pulsed magnetic field lines permeates all cells in the body simultaneously, at the molecular level thereby reaching parts of the body that cannot be influenced efficiently with other methods. Pulsed Electro Magnetic Field Therapy (PEMFT) permeates all cells, enhances ion exchange, normalizes circulation and increases the oxygen utilization of the cell.
Magnetic pulse therapy works on the electrical imbalances in the cell to regenerate to a more normalized condition by improving ion exchange.
Pulsed Magnetic Field Therapy influences cell behavior by inducing a magnetic field around and within the cell. This increase in electrical energy at the cellular level allows for faster absorption of nutrients and quicker elimination of waste products. This improves metabolic systems, increases blood and oxygen supply, activating and regenerating cells in the body.
