The unofficial results are in.
I am humbled to announce that you have elected me as your representative of Zone 3 on the NNDSB board of Trustee's.

Thank you to the many voters who supported me through this journey and put their trust in my vision for our children and communities.

Thank-you to Mr. Arkwright for also standing up to lead this role. I hope that he will continue to advocate for our northeastern communities where he resides.

As a board we have alot of work to do. Trust in our board has been frayed. A fantastic group of trustee's has been elected and I look forward to working with them.

As your Trustee , I have alot of work to do within our Zone 3 communities. Despite my residing within the Municipality of Whitestone, I represent all of Zone 3, from Powassan through Whitestone, McDougall, Carling, Archipelago N and get many unorganized townships between us.

This is your NNDSB. You have a voice.

I will be sharing information as it becomes available, and I do hope that in whichever capacity your comfortable with, you will communicate with me, through emails, Phone calls , especially in participating in board meetings.

Cheers JF

Education funding is complex to say the least.
The vast majority have very little knowledge about how funding actually works.

Trustee's have an important task, once funding is allocated, they are responsible for distribution of these funds. Not an easy task when there is a set budget.

If your a numbers type of person, feel free to dive right in to the technical page for Ontario education funding.

FYI because the topic comes up alot, often with inaccuracies, the base pupil amount is on average
$13,059 for 2022–23 (+$339 from 2021–22) This does not include special education grants - which for those who may not know, just because a board
receives additional funding for a child who is identified as having a special education need, the funding is not tied to a specific student, it can be used elsewhere.

My ego is not big enough that I would ever believe I have all the answers. What I do have is confidence in knowing that we need to do better, and a firm belief that
it takes a village to do it.

A positive in the right direction.
We'll be watching.

Grateful for the good advice of the Dyslexia Canada as we work together to strengthen literacy rates.

By next September, a new Language curriculum will be in place to ensure children can read, write and enjoy a life of dignity and economic opportunity.

We need to have some honestly. I'm not intrested on patting ourselves on the back, hand shaking and photo ops. We have work to do.

There are some real challenges in our Parry Sound high-school. Students , Parents and Teachers know it.
We need a board of trustee's who want to work collaboratively to brainstorm ideas and solutions with our Students, Parents and Teachers, rather than silencing them.

Trustee's should actually be concerned with student safety and wellbeing rather than their own political aspirations.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Policy/Program Memorandum 167 07/10/2022

Sometimes the answer is as simple as NO.

Ontario has brought in bill PPM 167, which makes students earn 2 completely online courses a condition of earning their OSSD.

While there is an option to opt-out, as per PPM 167, seems to be a simple process, some
boards across Ontario have begun to implement stricter opting out procedures.

I intend to ensure our board does not follow these rogue boards.

Our education system is filled with road blocks, our students do not need another.

I fully support and believe the choice should always be left to students and their families.

What do you think?

For too long, the schools in our district have been an after thought. Both Howard and I are united in our goals to deliver the best educational experience regardless of where a student attends school in our board.

On October 24th, voters across our Parry Sound district will be voting for your trustee candidate for our English Public School board,
Your vote matters.
Help us to have a seat at the table so we can begin these discussions and represent all students.

Nine years and counting. While North Bay spends our money to ensure that their children have distinct elementary and high school experiences, we are being forced to combine students from JK to grade 12 in one building.

Parry Sound continues push for reconsideration of mega school building plans 16/09/2022

These discussions are long overdue, despite pleas from our communities, our board has previously been unwilling to revisit their plans they've had for the Parry sound "Mega School".
Thankyou to the town of Parry Sound for taking the lead on what have been some of the concerns for our families and communities regarding this project.
While Education is not directly a Muncipal Council role, as the representatives of our communities, these are issues that need your collective voice.

Right to Read inquiry report | Ontario Human Rights Commission 13/09/2022

While this is an extremely long report. It is also somehow short. Detailing what has become of our education system would require thousands if not hundreds of thousands of pages.
It's time our communities open their eyes and really see what isn't being talked about.
For those of us who've lived and breathed these issues, we will no longer be silent.
We need to begin public conversations, and ensure our school board begins going in the right direction.
We can do better.

If you support my efforts to represent our community as trustee, you can support me by sharing my name & information with family, friends and neighbors.
