I honestly cannot express how happy I am that this painting exists. I have always struggled with creating something for myself with no deadlines or clients waiting on me.

I hope to add to this collection but for now, I am proud of myself.

My idea for this always seems to return to owls. Particularly, owls wearing jewellery they have woven for themselves. Owls are fascinating, beautiful, and just a bit creepy... There has been a lot of growth and change over 2022. From getting the website set up, portrait styles changing, and selling commissions to people from other countries. The year has had its ups and downs, but overall things are on the up! In mid-December, 2021, the domain for Heart and Home Illustrations was registered. Once that was done, there was a lot of time spent getting the website up and running with a focus on Installing plugins, tweaking settings, and ensuring things flowed well and that the website was functional!...

My last portrait of 2022! There was a ton of growth and building foundations this year. I feel I have made a good start at carving out a style for myself. I'm really looking forward to the year to come and feel hopeful about the direction my artwork is going!

A lot of my work lately has been for gifts this year, which means I'm holding off sharing for now. This piece however was a very generous gift from a group of people to their boss who had recently lost his boy. I was honoured to be given the chance to paint this beautiful guy and contribute to a truly special gift💙

As you can see, the reference photo provided showcased Ruby-Q in a grassy field. There are hints of blue-green from the environment reflected in the white parts of her fur.
