I love painting these secretive narrow windows to the world. “The Sheltered Cove” , 48 x 6 inches acrylic on birch panel, is on its way to Trinity Galleries, Saint John NB. The gallery will be presenting two exhibitions by two very different figurative artists. I look forward to meeting the other artist, Angela Morgan, and it will be great to see the Trinity Galleries team again, at the opening on Friday May 3rd, during Saint John’s spring Gallery Hop, from 4 to 7 pm.

I am slowly making progress on this painting, experimenting with what is perceived to be warm blue (cobalt) and cool or neutral blue (cerulean). Apparently, the temperature of blue paint is debatable.

Red Right Returning, 48" x 24", acrylic on birch panel, available

This painting went through several changes in the past and I am finally happy with it. Coincidentally, it is about finding your way back home. As many of you know, the expression Red Right Returning has long been used by seafarers as a reminder that the red buoys are kept to the starboard (right) side of the boat when proceeding from the open body of water into a safe harbour (upstream). I painted my buoy semi-transparent, as if it could be mirage.
