On Friday, June 21st, we held a closing ceremony at the QEH for our Project Search PEI graduating class of 2024.

Congratulations to Bradley Arsenault, Blaze Cake, Natasha MacLellan, Jase Murnaghan and KJ Quinn! You have certainly earned the recognition you have received for your hard work and dedication over this past year. We are excited for the future opportunities that await you and encourage you to continue on your journey to employment.

Special thanks to the Hon. Jenn Redmond (Minister of Workforce, Advanced Learning and Population) for bringing greetings on behalf of the Province of PEI and representing Skills PEI who provides funding support for the program.

Also, thank you to Mr. Terry Campbell (Administrator of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital) for bringing greetings on behalf of Health PEI CEO Melanie Fraser and the rest of the Health PEI and QEH team. Thank you for opening your doors to us, and providing opportunities for our interns to learn and grow within the QEH environment.

Today marks the final day of our interns' first internships. We want to send a special thank you to all of the participating departments; the patience, kindness, adaptability and acceptance you have shown towards the interns and our program is above and beyond what we could have asked for. We are proud to say this year's interns have opened doors in our program that we didn't think possible. Our interns and the team here at Project SEARCH are looking forward to second internship and what the new year will bring.

Alright folks, we are coming towards the end of our first round of internship and are we ever impressed! Over the past two months we have watched our interns grow and thrive, personally and professionally. The confidence, curiosity, and eagerness of these young and promising individuals is amazing to see and something our interns can take great pride in, knowing they have made great strides in achieving their goals.

We look forward to wrapping up our first internships and seeing what round two brings us!

With tomorrow being November 11, our intern Bradley decorated the doors of his department for Remembrance Day. We are proud of him for taking time out of his busy schedule throughout the week to honor the brave individuals who put their lives on the line for the people of this country.

Currently we have internships in Physical Medicine, Environmental Services, Diagnostic Imaging, Maintenance, and Materials Management.

Thank you to the Health PEI staff in these departments for working alongside our interns, and supporting them on their journey to excellence!

Yesterday afternoon our interns dedicated their time to cleaning up the trail system between the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and The Hillsborough Hospital. They demonstrated tremendous teamwork and left the environment a cleaner, safer place.

When you take care of your surroundings, they will in turn take care of you! 🌳🌳🌳

Last Wednesday, we were proud to hold the closing ceremony for the Project SEARCH PEI cohort of 2023!

Congratulations Colin, Samuel, Beonka, Logan and Jacob! This would not have been possible without the hard work and determination you brought forward each day. You certainly deserve a round of applause for this outstanding achievement! We look forward to seeing what is next for all of you!

We would like to extend a warm thank you to Health PEI staff for opening your doors to us, and providing opportunities for our interns to learn and grow within the QEH.

Thank you to SkillsPEI for the funding support which allows us to deliver this internationally-recognized and innovative program on PEI.

It is the final day of internships! We want to give a huge THANK YOU to all participating departments and Health PEI staff members! Project SEARCH PEI could not operate without your guidance, support, and the experiences you provide for our interns.

Congratulations to the interns of 2023! Your hard work and determination has allowed you to make it to the finish line. We have seen such incredible growth in this cohort, and while we are sad to see them leave the program, we are beyond excited to see what they choose to do with the skills they have gained over the past 10-months!

It's the final week of internships for Project SEARCH PEI, and we have another department to highlight!

This week we're showcasing the Maintenance Department!

This department kindly welcomed one of our interns, who was able to learn various life skills including: Problem solving, communication, and teamwork!
Throughout this internship, our intern worked both on and off-site of the QEH to assist staff on service appointments and with maintenance repairs.

This is a great area for interns who like to keep busy with a team and get their hands dirty!

It's new and shiny and scanning for new opportunities!

Project SEARCH PEI has scanned in a brand-new department, Diagnostic Imaging!

This department has kindly welcomed our interns, and helped them develop important skills such as: Independence, communication, and social skills, including talking to strangers.

During this internship, interns are supported by a staff member. One of the important jobs to complete together is to greet and transport patients to and from appointments around the hospital!

We are very happy to be partnered with such a supportive and positive department!

It's almost the Victoria Day weekend, and we have another Department Highlight to send you off with!

This week we are showcasing the Physical Medicine Department!

This department is brand new to Project SEARCH PEI, and is a great fit for an artsy intern! Equipped with their own workspace, Interns work on a variety of projects that will help assist patients and staff alike!

We are so happy to be partnered with such a positive, and rehabilitating unit!
