What a beautiful weekend here in Alberta! Got out in the backyard and starting to get it back together for the upcoming season! As always, there is the last patch of ice in my rock garden that just takes forever to melt!

One of our favorite left over meals are Turkey Club Sandwiches! But we have turkeys a few times a year at the most, so we cooked a little turkey we had this past Sunday just to make Club Sandwiches. Since we weren't having out traditional dinner the day before, this turkey got spiced up a little differently which made the gravy from the drippings fantastic to dip our fries in! And I have to say, I bought this Sauce Whisk recently and I just love it for making gravy.

Hello February! This month brings mine & my hubby's birthdays, Valentine's Day, the big 🏈 game and hopefully the last really cold month of winter. Ha, who am I kidding, I live in Alberta...lol.
February also means seed start planning for me, how about you? I started a garden a couple of years ago in my backyard in the suburbs. I began with starts from our local nurseries and although that worked out just fine, starting from seed opens a bigger variety of options for you to try out in your garden that they just don't have in the stores.

My family started meal planning last week. I don't know about you, but I am tired of hearing "I don't know" including from myself when the infamous "What's for supper" question is asked. There are many youtube videos about this topic and at the end of the day, you just need to find a way that works for you and how you plan & organize. I'm a pen to paper kind of gal so I took a food inventory, (meats, pastas, sides), grabbed a calendar and then just started plotting meals in my family enjoys. I started adding in other life commitments that would determine who was home and what we had time for. The first week went pretty good and we only deflected from the menu once, which I consider a win. 🙂 We used up stuff in the freezer and my three boys are loving the their favorite home cooked meals.

Yes, I am a Pampered Chef Consultant and this is my PC page. But I want my page to be about more than Pampered Chef. A sense of community, where we come together to share ideas and experiences about topics such as meal planning, preserving, gardening, recipes. These are all topics I am just beginning, some I haven't tried yet, but I'm going to, and I want to share that with you. To show you can start something new, and yes, you may not succeed the first time, but you learn from it keep going. We can all learn together. Who's with me? 🙋‍♀️💪

I bought a planner this weekend and the first thing I wrote was our last expected frost date for my area in Alberta. Time to start planning my seed planting for the garden this year. Do you have a garden and start your seeds? What seeds do you start? I plan on peppers and tomatoes for sure. 🍅🌶

Preserving some limes today. I zest them after being washed, flash freeze, then put in a container in my freezer. Then I squeeze out the juice, put them in a silicone ice cube tray, then freeze. Each cube is two tablespoons. Do you do any perserving? Let’s hear about it in the comments.

Looks like I’m getting ready for an autumn scene with this straw I picked up at Bluegrass Garden Centre beside my garden bed, but I’m just getting ready to prep this bed to plant garlic this weekend. The straw will be a nice mulch layer over the winter. Do any of you have a garden and do you plant garlic in the fall?

No one I know likes cutting up raw chicken! The Salad Chopper allows you to forgo the raw chicken cutting and chop it up like a champ after it's cooked instead. I used mine for the first time tonight while making quesadillas and it did not disappoint!!
