Want to have a miraculous day?

Pick one thing that you’re totally satisfied with in your life — one thing that makes you happy, puts a smile on your face, makes you feel good — and focus on that.

All day.

If something else less satisfying, or distressing, pops into your mind (and it likely will), redirect your attention back to that one thing that you’ve identified makes you feel good and satisfied.

Do this all day long, to the best of your ability, and watch how things shift for the better. ❤️

Tomorrow (April 18th), we head back into the studio to record Episode 5: Shifting a Scarcity Mindset.

This episode is geared towards dealing with any feelings of "there just isn't enough [for me]"

Scarcity mindset is the feeling that whatever you might want:

- money
- work
- love
- time
- etc.

is in limited supply and therefore difficult to attain.

It is often coupled with the idea of zero-sum game... that whatever someone gets means there's less for me.

If you are struggling with the feeling like there's not enough of something to go around and that it's keeping you from getting what you want, register and come join us for the live, interactive recording tomorrow:

Tuesday, April 18th
11am ET / 8am PT / 5pm CET

We hope to see you there!

When we started our podcast about life shifts and consciously creating the change we want to see in our lives, Susan Bushell and I wanted to bring the power of to people who have recently realized that life has shifted for them in some way or are struggling with a series of life shifts.

In the book that we're writing together, we talk about the fact that life is always shifting. The shifts may be smaller, more gradual shifts which happen to us as we age, as our relationships age, and as our children and loved ones age.

Or the shifts may be more dramatic shifts brought on by major personal life events like:

- Falling in love, moving in together, getting married
- Becoming a parent / step-parent
- Losing someone you love
- Having a health scare or receiving a terminal diagnosis
- Landing your dream job
- Losing your [dream] job
- Leaving a relationship
- Having an injury or accident
- Learning of an infidelity in your relationship
- Dealing with your child's (or children's) struggles -- no matter what age they may be

Dramatic shifts can also be brought on by macro life events, like:

- Witnessing or surviving a global pandemic
- Witnessing or surviving acts of war
- Witnessing or surviving catastrophic environmental episodes like floods or wild fires

Over the last decade, I have had my share of significant personal life shifts, including:

- becoming a wife and stepmother at the age of 44 after a very single life;

- navigating significant changes: from GM of a division of a large company to GM of a smaller underfunded company, to Chief Revenue Officer of multiple start-ups, to self employment as a strategic advisor and executive;

- dealing with the serious illness of my beloved niece as she fought for life due to a rare brain disease;

- addressing the and issues of our kids during their teens and young adult years;

- processing my dad's diagnosis and the impact that being his had on my life; and

- dealing with the emotions of following my dad's passing.

And with every life shift I have gone through in the last decade, I have turned to to help me process and make sense of it.

We're heading back into the studio and we hope you'll join us.

On Tuesday (April 18th) we are recording our next podcast episode:

Shifting a Scarcity Mindset

Did you know that one of the secrets to success is having an Abundance mindset? And did you know that in challenging economic times, it can be hard to maintain that mindset? Beyond that, some of us are naturally wired to think that things are scarce (often aligned with pessimistic thinking) rather than abundant (often aligned with optimistic thinking).

(And if you just had the thought "I'm not a pessimist, I'm a realist", I have news for you... you might just have a Scarcity Mindset. ☺️)

If you are struggling with feelings of lack in some way:
- not enough time
- not enough money
- not enough love / relationships
- not enough jobs on the market
- etc.

whatever it may be, come join us LIVE at 11am ET / 8am PT / 5pm CET on April 18th and learn ways to turn your scarcity mindset into abundance.

My own recent experience with a "life shift", created the need in me to help others who might be experiencing something similar.

And that is what the Susan Squared (https://susansquared.com) podcast is really all about. Helping others make sense of their own life shifts -- expected or otherwise.

Our most recent podcast episode, Dealing with Unexpected Life Shifts, was recorded earlier this month and really resonated with our participants. As one of the participants shared with me, being part of the Susan Squared community made her feel less alone and isolated with her own challenges.

Music to my eyes!

If you're like our podcast participants, you are most likely dealing with a recent job loss / change, the illness or death of a loved one, your own injury or illness, the end of a relationship, or a divorce. Or you're struggling with the effects of Covid or of aging on your body.

If any of these topics resonate with you or someone you know, take a listen. https://youtu.be/GZrt0R29ZEA

And if you're so inclined, please subscribe to our channel and like / share our videos. https://www.youtube.com//featured

Regardless, if you've experienced a recent life shift and are struggling to find your feet, please know you're not alone. And reach out any time if you need help.

Register to Join Us Next Week Episode 4: Dealing with Unexpected Life Shifts is scheduled to record next week (Tuesday March 14th).  Join the two Susans as they talk about what can be the toughest kind of life shift we can experience in our lives: the unexpected (and often unwanted) life shift.

06/03/2023

Next week we will be recording our fourth episode of our podcast:

🔹Dealing with Unexpected Life Shifts

Life shifts can be challenging enough to navigate when we choose them. However, unexpected life shifts (like the sudden death of a spouse, being laid off, getting dumped, an illness / terminal diagnosis, or an life changing accident) can fundamentally destabilize the ground under our feet and rock the foundation that we stand on.

If you’ve experienced an unexpected life shift in the past, are going through one right now, or want to be prepared should one happen to you in the future (they happen to all of us at some point in our life), please register to join us next Tuesday (March 14th) at 11am ET / 8am PT / 5pm CET to explore this topic: https://bit.ly/S2PPpE4

Hope to see you there!

This week, on , we recorded Episode 3 of the podcast: So You're Stuck, Now What?

Today that episode is published and available for viewing.

My favourite Valentine's Day gift this year? This quote from one of the participants:

"[Participating in this podcast] is the best Valentine's gift I could give myself... I feel such a sense of hope and lightness."

This is why we do what we do.

❣ To help others.
❣ To bring our combined decades of expertise to people in an accessible, consumable way.
❣ To make a difference in people's lives

I hope you'll give yourself the gift of watching it (https://susansquared.com/latest-episode/).

Thanks to our two participants, Rhonda G and Melanie E, for volunteering to be vulnerable and share your "stuckness" with us.

And thanks to all who joined Susan Bushell and me for the recording session. Having live participants who engage with us and volunteer to share their stories brings a special energy to the podcast.

Happy belated Valentine's Day everyone. I hope it was your best one yet.

Episode 2: Navigating Toxic Situations 31/01/2023

Part of the reason we started the podcast was to address the topics that can derail having a successful career or building the life of your dreams.

Things like which, if not processed properly, can keep coming back at different points in our lives.

——————————————————

I remember my first toxic boss like it was just yesterday.

It was my second job out of University and I had signed on to help an entrepreneur build her business. I was so excited by the opportunity and by the people I met associated with the opportunity.

I happily signed on to do whatever was needed to help the business grow. I was sales. I was administration. I was transportation. I was marketing. I was fulfillment.

I worked evenings and weekends. I was “all in”.

(Yes, I was YOUNG and eager. ☺️)

What I didn’t know, when I was hired for the job as a contractor, was that the woman I had signed on to work for was a . She had a pattern of treating the few she had in her employ poorly (until one by one they left) and of not having or reasonable expectations about what was possible and in what timeframe.

You were her best friend until you with her and then she would criticize you at every turn.

Fast forward less than a year and I was burnt out and miserable. Eventually I had to leave the job due to illness. It was a classic case of as written about in Gabor Mate’s book by the same title.

Even worse, my toxic boss refused to pay me the money she owed me for the work that I did — including a loan I had offered during a cashflow crunch which she hadn’t paid back. (Did I mention ?) It took hiring a lawyer and initiating legal proceedings to get paid what I was owed.

Left with virtually no other choice, I decided to leave the company and put the behind me. But it did take it’s toll on me and my . And it set me back in my career for a bit. I found myself having starting over in my mid-twenties. In the end, as evidenced by my , it turned out all right so I was fortunate. And I learned a lot from the experience.

I wish I could say that this story is the first and last situation in my career. Unfortunately it wasn’t. But we’ll save those stories for another day.
