Friends, today is the day veterinary professionals and pet lovers focus on the disease of pet obesity. Too many lives are cut short, experience unnecessary pain and suffering, and develop avoidable secondary diseases.

Colleagues, take time today to reflect on what you can do to better diagnose, treat, and support your patients with obesity.

Pet owners, I ask you to honestly assess your pet’s body condition, diet, and physical activity today. Ask your veterinarian to perform a Body Condition Score (BCS) and calculate the number of calories you should feed each day.
