“The doors to the world of the wild Self are few but precious. If you have a deep scar, that is a door, if you have an old, old story, that is a door. If you love the sky and the water so much you almost cannot bear it, that is a door. If you yearn for a deeper life, a full life, a sane life, that is a door.”

Thankful for a few days away, with my loves! Never underestimate the healing power of unplugging from the everyday and reconnecting with raw and powerful nature 💙

Love this perspective from a fellow Chinese medicine peer!
It is not the time to be rushing into action and burning through more of our yin, stay in tune with the seasons!
The time for fun in the sun will be with us soon enough 💗

As we draw close to bidding 2022 farewell, we start to hear a lot about reflecting on the year we had and planning for the year ahead. I want to offer an alternative perspective to the new years resolution. On December 21st we had the most yin day of the year. Yin has the qualities of being dark, descending, contracting, cooling, inert, soft, and tranquil, whereas yang has the qualities of being bright, rising, expansive, warming, active, hard and lively. Now that we are past winter solstice the days are growing longer again as we move towards springtime when the yang of the natural world begins to grow. But right now, that yang is still in hibernation. The ground is still covered in snow, the buds of blossoms are not yet showing, the temperatures are still below 0, and the skies are still grey. We are still in a yin time of the year, so instead of pushing in a yang-like manner towards a new you in 2023, I invite you to continue to rest and to invite softness into your life. Maybe all of this yang-like pushing, striving, achieving, and hustling is why you feel so tired right now, and maybe if we listen to the rhythm of the season then we can allow ourselves to soften and to rest so we can recuperate and store our yang-qi. Then, when yang starts to rise in the natural world come spring, we will have stored enough yang to be able to rise with it. The trees, flowers, vegetables, and fruits have all stopped growing and striving to reach the sun, so we can benefit from co-resonating with the season, because we are nature too. In clinic the general theme from most of my patients is that they are tired, they are burnt-out, they are overworked, underpaid, stretching themselves too thin, and without enough time to play and cherished their loved ones. I hear the words of Bilbo Baggins, “I feel thin, sort of stretched, like butter scraped over too much bread.” So if you are also feeling this way, then I invite you to welcome softness and rest into your life for the new year. Prioritize sleep, quiet contemplation, say no to gatherings or activities that do not bring you joy, and give yourself permission to rest when tired.

In health and happiness,
Kylie

Yep 🤣

You see, Dino clearly has a wood constitution — angry, shouting, green complexion.

But wood corresponds to the Liver, and the Liver “governs orderly reaching.” Think about a tree. 🌳 It grows upwards, but it also reaches its branches outwards. That’s the direction of the liver.

The problem is, Dino cannot engage in orderly reaching because his arms are so short. That’s why he’s angry.

A great remedy for seasonal coughs and colds!

Honey, Thyme, and Citrus Peel Cough Syrup 🌿

Thyme is warming and pungent, enters the Lung, Spleen, and Stomach, tonifies and warms the Lungs, and helps to relieve Lung congestion. Thyme rectifies counterflow Lung Qi (Lung Qi going upwards instead of down causing a cough). Citrus peel is warming, transforms phlegm, and dries dampness. It is very useful when there is profuse Phlegm.

Ingredients
• 2 cups of water
• 3 Tablespoons dried thyme or ½ cup fresh thyme
• ½ cup orange or lemon zest
• 1 cup of honey

Directions
• Bring the water to a boil in a small saucepan, then
remove from heat.
• Add the thyme, cover, and steep for 10
minutes or more.
• Strain out the thyme, then stir in the honey and zest.
• Store in a glass jar, refrigerated.

🙏🏼🌸💫🌱

✨🌿🌙

Heal yourself with the light of the sun and the rays of the moon. With the sound of the river and the waterfall.
With the swaying of the sea and the fluttering of birds.
Heal yourself with mint, neem, and eucalyptus.
Sweeten with lavender, rosemary, and chamomile.
Hug yourself with the cocoa bean and a hint of cinnamon.
Put love in tea instead of sugar and drink it looking at the stars. Heal yourself with the kisses that the wind gives you and the hugs of the rain.
Stand strong with your bare feet on the ground and with everything that comes from it.
Be smarter every day by listening to your intuition, looking at the world with your forehead.
Jump, dance, sing, so that you live happier.
Heal yourself, with beautiful love, and always remember: you are the medicine. --Maria Sabina
