Chp. 17: The Ugly Uncertainty of the Unexpected. Five months. That's how long we've been in Thailand. Relatively-speaking, five months isn't a long. time. And yet, the unexpected can happen in a split second, reminding us of the uncertainly of our finite lives. And why am I writing about this? Because, since we've been here, two important women in...

Chp 16: Start with Why A couple of years ago I read Simon Sinek's book, Start with Why. As our time here draws to a close, I thought it time to answer the question, "Why are you in Thailand, anyway?" Five days a week my hubby heads off to school--not as a student but as a professor of linguistics, teaching a "Translation....
Halloween shopping with this girl is always surprising—in a good way! Love this kid!
World Mental Health Day. That’s today! I’ve been thinking about how important support groups are for our mental health, whether we’re well or not. And today I’m thankful for ALL the support groups God has given me: from my Bible College days all the way to my recent writing groups. People I can be vulnerable with. People I trust my heart to. And NONE is more important than my Sister support!!! My oldest and dearest support group! Oh how I thank God for each one of you! My heart is full of gratitude today.
Mental health joy-boost! Spending time with children, but especially these three sisters, is good for the mental health! Basking in their wonder, seeing the world through their eyes, brings fresh perspective and HOPE!
Did you know it’s mental illness awareness week? Today I’m thankful for neurofeedback therapy and the restored mental health of our daughter after almost 10 years of watching her mental health decline from a car-accident concussion. Thankful for the courage of my daughter to agree to this therapy. And thankful for her doctor who worked with her, faithfully and tirelessly, for 9 months! Our daughter has been returned to us!!!! She was lost but now is found! And so this week is also thankfulness week for me! Woohooooo! .paradoxical.artist
Jupiter in the eastern sky last night. So bright! I stood in awe, wishing I had a telescope.
Always an honour to receive an award and to be recognized as a poet. Thank you for your support. Conference was one joy after another.
And the winner is: I’m still reeling at being given this award! Thanks ! I’m both honoured and humbled. Soli Deo Gloria!
Some days simply take your breath away!
Hello moon!
Road trippin’ at 100 Mile House and 108 Mile House, BC on our way to the Chilcotin. Beautiful day! Sky so blue! The fish await!!! .inglis.3
Buying a couple of these makes me so happy? Can anyone guess why? And what are these anyway? Flies! These are flies—-for fishing. That’s right! Our annual fishing adventure to BC’s chilcotin region begins tomorrow! Woohooooo!!!
This granddaughter starts school today! How are you already 5?! But oh the places you’ll go. Soak it in but also give it away! Let the world see your light, your love, your tender spirit and compassion. Can’t wait to be a part of your adventure!
Because sometimes ya just gotta go back in time for the memories! .paradoxical.artist
Homemade candy!
One red peony-like poppy in a field of pink surprises my morning. Love it!
I’ve been struggling with grief of late. This painting expresses so beautifully the kindness, compassion and love shown me through God’s people. For He too is my kind and compassionate Friend. He returns HOPE. #
Good morning world! I love when the mornings are warm enough and dry enough so that I can enjoy coffee and quiet time out on my deck. Flowers are blooming, birds are twittering. God speaks.
My latest acrylic pours. Playing with colours and the feel of the Arizona landscape. What do you think?
A little haiku for our new family member: Calla. Our perfect little lily.
More Wednesday Wonder. From picking dandelions for mommy to mixing, baking, and eating (mud) brownies with chocolate chips. The wonder never stops—never fails to flood my heart and soul. Soli Deo Gloria!
Melody Jamal Smith. That’s what one of the groups called this character as we discussed character sketch in a workshop I did for school students last week at a library. More than just a name! Why? Read my latest blogpost to find out. Info in my bio. (Drawing by )
Sisters Rule! Sister weekend 2022. Always good. I’m so thankful for these beautiful women in my life. Through ALL the delightful highs and deep, dark lows, we are there for each other. A God-given gift! .kimmy
So, I worked late last night on preparing different writers' workshops for school students. This is something I'm starting to do more of. If you're interested, check out my media page: https://www.conniemaeinglis.ca/media
However, when I went to bed, my brain wouldn't shut off. It sounded like the teacher in the Peanuts' cartoons. STOOOOOOOOOP!!!
It sounded like THIS video (and I thought this appropriate, especially the writing assignment--Hahahaha!):
Peanuts' Teacher Calls Out Charlie Brown & Linus - "Wah Wa Wa Wah Wa Wa" - 1969 Charlie Brown and Linus get hauled up in front of their class by Miss Halverson...then make a big mistake.
Happy Easter!!!
Hope can be defined in, by, through, with, many word pictures, objects or events. The events we celebrate at Easter FAAAAR surpass them all! Hope lies and rises here!!!!!
THIS!!!!!
I love this girl, this favourite oldest granddaughter of mine-always dancing to the beat of her own drum. She brings me joy! .paradoxical.artist

Wanna play a game? I've got one for you!
This game connects "Rewriting Adam," my recent novel, to the playlist I created which follows the novel.
Prelims: You pretty much have to have read my novel to play--or, at least, started it, because the songs in the playlist refer back to songs mentioned in the novel, or musicians mentioned in the novel, or scenes I created in the novel.
If you'd like to read my novel, here's where you can find it:
My website:
https://www.conniemaeinglis.ca/
Goodreads offers you other buying options:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/58405811-rewriting-adam
And, here's where you can find my playlist, titled, "Ethan's Playlist - Rewriting Adam." You can find it on YouTube music: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYpe83jsN5VuIyB8ZQBoJ-u6nzQx33KE4
and on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/11DHju9CHy76ZS9zRdPA5y
Okay. Now that we're done with the preliminaries, here's the game:
Listen to the individual songs. THEN, find WHERE the connection is in my novel. If you find a song mentioned on a certain page or at least a certain chapter, then WRITE it as a reply to this post.
Let's start with the first song on the playlist and take it from there. On your mark, set get (as my 2-year-old granddaughter says), GO! And enjoy!
C’mon March!!!
Took a writing break to focus on another right-brain passion of mine. Acrylic pour background; bamboo: acrylic and ink. Painting makes me happy. Problem is: All my left-brain list of “to do’s” keeps accumulating and getting in the way. What do I do??!!!!
Happy Birthday Sydrah! ! I’m glad we got to celebrate you on the weekend. I love you ALWAYS! .trust.fall
Blokus photo last week. Anyone recognize this game? A grandkid favourite. Maybe because it includes an annoying jingle. Hooray for grandkid day!
