⭐️ Why We Must Strength Train ⭐️

We get it. Exercise is difficult.

In addition to being both mentally and physically challenging, exercise is also uncomfortable.

However, we believe it is necessary. When done properly, strength training has very little risk of injury, but has a ton of benefits for people of all ages.

Here are some of the major benefits:

We’re hoping to offer another round of Breakfast Club Skates!

We’re looking at Wednesdays at 7:00-8:00 AM starting November 6 for 7 weeks!

We will be requiring a minimum number of skaters registered to make it work.

💥Registration closes November 1💥

The focus of these skates will be small area games, hockey awareness, and individual skill development.

Open to both VMH kids who have been a part of previous Breakfast Club Skates or not!

Training sessions are only 30 minutes at Apex Wellness!

But within the 30 minutes you get an intense, full body strength training session, designed to fatigue your muscles and make them stronger.

There is no need to feel intimidated or nervous, because the sessions are catered to your comfort level and ability. Your health and safety is our top priority!

Everything we do here at Apex Wellness is done with a purpose.

Our goal with each workout is to create a deep level of fatigue, or inroading, to each targeted muscle group, to create an adaptive response to your muscles.

In order to achieve stronger muscles, we need the workout to be intense enough to deeply fatigue your muscles and then we need proper recovery time to allow the body to rebuild and come back stronger.

During my hockey playing career, I have done a number of different programs and I can confidently say that more is not always better. Overtraining is a real thing. What we do at Apex Wellness is combine just the right amount of stress with adequate recovery time so that you get stronger and stay injury-free, regardless of age or ability!

💥Importance of In-Season Training💥

As we move into sports season and athletes’ schedules fill up with practices and games, one often overlooked part of their regimen is in-season training.

As seasons wear on, the level of wear and tear and stress on the body increase and your chance of injury increases as well.

This is where in-season training comes in. Our focus for athletes during this time of year is maintaining strength and mobility, more than building those components. Reducing strength loss doesn’t guarantee an injury won’t occur, but it can greatly reduce that risk.

We do, however, want to make sure that we’re training only an appropriate amount. Overtraining syndrome can easily occur in athletes with incredibly busy schedules.

With practices, games, school and homework taking up their time and energy, we want to be sure that we provide the minimal amount of additional stress to the body that yields the greatest benefit.

As little as one session a week can reduce losses in strength and mobility that occur naturally throughout the season.

⭐️ Minimal Time Commitment, Maximal Effort ⭐️

Imagine being in the best shape of your life in 40 minutes or less per week. Done properly, that’s all it takes!

But, it takes effort. Lots of it, in fact. It’s true that you can’t get something for nothing, and the same is true for fitness.

The more intense your effort, the greater your results, and the less time weekly that you have to spend in a gym. Every week is a new chance to invest in yourself!

All we ask is for your absolute best, 20 minutes at a time!
