***To all those who will be ringing in the new year away from home***

Unfortunately we only have a few teams for the night. With that said, you may want to keep a backup ride available just in case; whether it be a cab, DD, what have you; in the event all of our teams are all out on calls and unavailable to take anymore at that time.

We will, as always, do our best to accommodate as many clients as we can, but being limited on volunteers this season, it’s been difficult.

If you have already handed in your paperwork, received your Criminal Record Check back and are able to drive tonight as a team of three (all three need to have paperwork already done and returned), we could use another team or two as there is word of a few staff Christmas parties tonight and a possibility of needing a lift home after. It would be great if we could accommodate everyone!

For those who find it hard to run errands during their work day, or live out of town and cannot make it into the city to pick up their Volunteer Packages, below are links to both the Application form and the Criminal Record Check.

REMEMBER: Both sets of forms need to be returned to either CAA Manitoba or Sunrise Credit Union along with two pieces of ID (one being photo). Do Not take your Criminal Record Check to the police station. We will do that on your behalf.

If you have ever been on the fence about volunteering for Operation Rednose before, take a look at the picture below. This is a write up I found from 2021 about impaired driving in Manitoba over the last few years. These are only the people that got caught.

And according to an article dated November 25, 2020 from MPI
( https://www.mpi.mb.ca/Pages/nr2020nov25.aspx ) there were at least 18 deaths due to impaired driving, which happened to be the leading cause that year.

We want to see these numbers lower! We want to see our loved ones come through the door; even if it IS stumbling after a few too many rum and eggnog!

Volunteers are the ONLY way Operation Rednose can run and we need YOU!

Consider the impact that one night volunteering can have on someone’s life and their family’s lives.

Operation Rednose has taken a jump into the digital world with an app! You can print off your volunteer application form and even call for a ride all from the same app! How easy is that?!

Go into your App Store and search Operation Rednose to download. From there make sure you have selected Manitoba as your province and Brandon as your Region.

Do some navigating and see what it’s all about. If you have any questions feel free to comment on this post or send a private message.

As there are always many requests for rides in the rural areas and smaller towns we are looking for as many volunteers as we can get this season. Maybe a challenge between departments or companies?!🤷🏻‍♀️ Let’s help everyone have a safe and enjoyable Holiday Season!

When filling out the Criminal Record Check, please check “No” in the section where it states:
Is the “Reason for Request” dealing with Vulnerable Sector?
The check is free of charge. You do not need to take it to BPS.Take both the application and the check along with two pieces of ID (one photo) to the drop off location and they will take care of everything on your behalf.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce that the safe ride campaign for the 2021 will not be held in the province of Manitoba this year. Implementing the important annual service depends, amongst other things, on the sanitary context, and the organization has decided to push the much appreciated service to next year.
In the absence of the safe ride service in the province, Operation Red Nose Brandon invites you to always plan to get home safe by calling a friend or a cab, or by designating a sober driver.
