Wildpine Residence is one of the seniors homes in the Ottawa area to take advantage of our regular no-cost oral screening clinics! 😃

Registered Dental Hygienist Irene was on site yesterday offering free dental screenings to our residents. If she finds any areas of concern, she can follow up with a full exam, suggest appropriate treatments or refer to a mobile dentist or denturologist. What a handy service. Her next on site visit will take place on Sept. 20th.

Temporary fillings or Interim Stabilization Therapy.

When I tell people I place temporary fillings as part of my services, they often wonder ‘what’s the point, if it’s only temporary?’

Here is a before and after of a recent client of mine.

This lady is in her late 80’s and struggling with progressive dementia. This broken tooth was identified during one of my no cost dental screening days with

The area had early decay and appears as though there may have previously been a filling here. It was treated with silver diamine fluoride from .science and then sealed over with fluoride releasing glass ionomer filling material. The entire procedure took less than 10 mins and was completed right in her room in her wheelchair. There was no freezing or drilling involved.

These fillings can last up to 5 years. The area will be checked for good seal and intact margins at every future visit and there is a good chance this tooth might never require further treatment! 🦷

I was so glad to be able attend to her oral health needs right in her own room! 🪥

Many seniors live tucked out of sight and out of mind in care facilities. Unable to leave or communicate their basic needs. 💔

They deserve the same access to health and personal care services as others!

It is up to us to give them a voice. 💖
