Dauphin Rec Hockey League - Jr. Division

Have a great Labour Day long weekend everyone but with that in mind remember that we are going to be @ Dauphin Rec Services Leisure Mart this coming Tuesday September 5 . It runs from 5-7 pm. Some of our board members will be there to answer any questions that you may have .
This coming season is just over a month away. So please don’t miss out on some great times coming this winter .

It's still summer but we have already begun planning for the upcoming DRHL Jr.Season!

Online registration is currently open on our website www.drhljr.ca and once again we are offering several different payment options: full payment up front, 2-month payment plan and a 4 month payment plan.

With expected numbers for this season, we have decided to add a NEW age category, which will be splitting our players into 4 groups: U7, U10, U14 and U17

What a busy weekend it was for the Dauphin Rec Hockey League-Jr Division. First off on Friday the U13 White team travelled to Roblin while the U13 Orange played at home against the Ste Rose Royals.
Then on Saturday the U17 Hawks played a couple of back to back games against Rivers and Macgregor.
Thanks to everyone that came out to watch and cheer on their favourite teams.
This all leads up to our very own home tournament coming up on February 25 and 26. Mark your calendar for this one. And make sure to come and make some noise in Credit Union Place.

A busy next couple of days for the U17 Hawks team. First up on Saturday they travel to a tournament in Ninga to play Carberry at 1:30pmand then a very short rest and play Elton at 3:30pm.

Then on Sunday they travel to Virden to to take on their local team at 4pm in Tundra Oil and Gas Place.
If you happen to be around those places please come and cheer loud for them.

Tomorrow night at 7 pm the U13 white team are in Ste Rose . Come and enjoy a great game and cheer them on.

The U17 team went undefeated to win gold at the home Tournament this weekend! Rapid City took the Silver.

This is our last week of hockey, with the U17s on Wednesday, U11 on Friday and Intro on Sunday.

Thank you to our coaches for their countless hours on the bench and the ice this year, and to our families for always making it fun!

Hi everyone - there will be no hockey over the Christmas school break; the next date for 12-17 players is January 5 and for 8-11 players is January 7th. Intro hockey (5+) begins January 9th.

The Executive is extremely excited to get the 2021-22 season going after a long hiatus from the rink!

As there are still Public Health Orders and restrictions regarding youth recreation activities and entry into our Recreation Center, there will be a few changes to how the season is structured during the October - Christmas season. We will have an update and plan in place for the January - March season by December 1st, which will be emailed out to all families.

Here are the details:

13 - 17 Year Olds

Wednesday Evenings, beginning October 20th

Evaluation Skates: October 20 & 27th
5:15 - 7:15PM - Rotary Arena (Drills & Scrimmage)

Teams will be made after the Evaluation skate on the 27th and posted to the website

November 3rd - December 22nd
Every Wednesday Evening

5:15 - 6:00PM - Practice for ALL PLAYERS in the age category
Flood
6:15 - 7:15PM - Mini tournament (All Teams will play every other team in a series of shortened games)

* We are expecting up to 3 teams in this age category. The mini tournament structure will allow each team to play 2 - 20 minute games with a break for the team not playing at that time.

7 - 12 Year Olds

Friday Evenings, beginning October 22nd

DRHL Jr. is finalizing the process and protocol for parents wishing to attend the ice sessions and will have that out to all families shortly.

Our first home tournament of the year is coming on on Saturday, February 1st! Our players ages 7-11 will be playing in Credit Union Place from 8:30am-7:00 pm. New this year, our Intro to Hockey group will also make an appearance for an exhibition game at 2:30pm. We will have a silent auction and 50/50 sales to help cover our costs of this event, which the league runs without charging admission or tournament fees. just a quick update on the Intro and Senior Programs:

Intro is going to start NEXT Sunday, November 3 at the Rotary Arena.

Parent meeting for more info is on Wednesday, October 30th at 530pm at the Rotary Arena. . We will discuss and create a coaching schedule, expectations of the season and goals for player development.

Players in the regular program who feel they would benefit from extra ice time are welcome to come as well!

We are still hoping to get enough players to run the 15-18 program as well - if you know anyone who is interested, please have them email me!
Assuming we get enough players, we expect to start this program next Sunday as well.

Reminder that both programs require full equipment including neck guard and mouthguard.

Hockey starts this Friday!! Here’s the basics:

All players must have full equipment, including mouth guards to be allowed on the ice. Please bring your own jerseys for the first few sessions.

REGULAR PROGRAM: begins Friday, October 18 at the Rotary Arena with final registrations and the initial evaluation of players.
Players ages 7-11 on ice from 5:00-6:00pm
Players ages 12-15 on ice from 6:00-7:00pm

Ice times will remain the same for more evaluations and scrimmages on October 23, 25, 30 and November 1 (unless we complete evaluations sooner, in which case I will send out an email and post on fb).

Teams will be made for November 6 at the very latest and a schedule will be developed and sent out.

INTRO TO HOCKEY: Ages 5 and up, open to anyone who could use more practice to get comfortable on the ice and with the game of hockey- first practice will be October 27th. We are planning to have a parent meeting for this group a few days before the first practice to get everything organized. If anyone is still interested in signing up, please PM me, or register online at drhljr.ca.

SENIOR GROUP: Ages 15-18 - we are still looking for players for this program. We haven’t yet set a start date as we are thinking we may get some additional interest once the Clippers roster is finalized. If anyone is interested, please PM me for more details.

There’s still time to register for Rec Hockey! We are anticipating a start date of October 16, 2019.
Registration is open to players 7-15 for our regular program, players ages 5 and up for the Intro to Hockey Program, and players 15-18 for the Senior Program.
Both the Intro and Senior Programs are tentative and depend on a minimum registration of 16 players.

It’s time to register for junior rec hockey again! This year we are tentatively offering 2 new programs in addition to our regular one. The first is an Intro to Hockey program, for all ages 5+ (at Dec 31/19) who are new to hockey, or need to further skills development to be confident playing on a team. The second is a once weekly rec hockey game for players 15-18 years. We need a minimum of 16 players in each of these categories to run the program. Our long anticipated clothing line is up and ready for ordering! I will bring samples to the rink on Friday and next Wednesday so you can look at everything and judge sizes. You will notice we are debuting our new "Hawks" logo on this clothing. I've ordered the buttons with this logo as well.

The ice isn't quite ready at the Rotary, so our season will start on Wednesday, October 17, 2018.

The first 4 days will be for evaluating players before the teams are created, so ice times will be as follows:

Wednesday, October 17, Friday, October 19, Wednesday, October 24 and Friday, October 26:

5:00-6:00 - 8-11 year olds only

6:00-7:00 - 12-16 year olds only

Wednesday, October 31st - Halloween - NO HOCKEY

Friday, November 2nd - Regular Practice and Game Schedule Begins (Teams and Schedule will be sent out once evaluations are completed.
