All Power to the People!
Thank you so much to local activists, other unions, and working students for coming out in solidarity, if only briefly, with postal workers against the back to work legislation. It is imperative that we build a strong line of solidarity across disciplines and throughout all sectors of working society, and also with workers in every country around the world.
Postal workers have won incredibly important demands that have extended to workers from all fields all across Canada, they need our solidarity now!

Frantz Fanon was a revolutionary philosopher and psychoanalyst whose work pushed the boundaries of discussions surrounding colonialism and the repercussions colonialism has for colonized peoples.
Fanon wrote extensively on the violence of colonialism, and further argued that a cathartic violent reaction from the colonized would be necessary in the destruction of colonialism’s integrated structural presence. Fanon’s most recognized works would include “Black Skin, White Masks” and “Wretched of the Earth”.
Fanon’s critiques of global colonialism and its connection with other oppressive systems has influenced philosophies and political organizing for decades after his untimely death on December 6th, 1961, 57 years ago today.

Reject the Back to Work Legislation: Solidarity with Postal Workers!
The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) has once again decided to fight for their interests and dignity as workers. And once again, their bosses in Canada Post have denied their requests, forcing the second postal strike in 10 years. The Government of Canada has unsurprisingly stepped in to save the bosses with back-to-work legislation, a move that was ruled unconstitutional when they did the same thing last time CUPW went on strike. As if we needed further proof, this shows again that the state is run for and by the capitalist class; it doesn’t matter how “unconstitutional” something is, the government will do it if it helps the capitalist class secure their profits.
Almost every major workers’ struggle in Canada during the last decade has been resolved with back-to-work legislation. The state, acting on behalf of the capitalist class, has free reign to dictate when, how, and whether workers in Canada have the “right” to strike. It’s clear, this “right” only exists when it’s convenient and not too disruptive for capitalist production. Capitalist profits come before human need, and the state steps in to reinforce this imperative.
This isn’t a bug of the system; it’s a feature. The current labour relations regime was designed to limit the power of workers in fighting for their interests and to replace radical leaders willing to fight for the working class with a comfortable layer of bureaucrats who are more interested in maintaining their dues base than in the working class winning power. They make us ask for permission to strike, they ban sympathy strikes and secondary pickets, they let the bosses hire scabs, and if it looks like we’ll win, they legislate us back to work. It’s a rigged system, and it will stay rigged no matter what party sits in Parliament.
The recent wave of illegal solidarity pickets disrupting Canada Post’s distribution centres is a direct challenge to the fake labour-peace we’ve been forced into. As workers we are sending a clear message to the rest of the working class that we don’t have to play the boss’ rigged game by their rigged rules. The pickets provide a small glimpse at the power that the working class can wield if we’re organized outside the state-sponsored labour relations apparatus: we can shut down production, and we can take that power and build a new world.
The solidarity pickets point to the way forward for the working class. Yes, we want safer work and pay equity, but these demands –the demands that are currently on the table- are only a small piece of the puzzle. The working class and oppressed people should run the whole show, all of society: we should control the state, and organize production to meet human needs rather than to maximize profits. We can do that, but it will take a revolution to transform society. It will take building power. And for now, we get there by breaking free of the rules of engagement the capitalist class and its state have laid down for us when we strike.
In the coming days there will be more community disruption of “business as usual” for Canada Post. And in the coming days, postal workers will face a choice: will you follow the back-to-work legislation imposed on you by the boss’s government, or will you ignore it, charting a new path forward for workers across Canada? We hope you choose the latter, and we promise you that progressives and revolutionaries across the country will be on the lines beside you regardless of your choice.
SOLIDARITY WITH STRIKING POSTAL WORKERS!

Steve Bannon is a former campaign and political advisor to current US President Donald Trump and co-founder of the alt-right media platform Breitbart News. For the past decade he has made a career out of promoting hateful white supremacist, misogynist, homophobic rhetoric as well as a far-right, nationalist political agenda.
During his short tenur as Trump’s Chief Strategist, Bannon helped devise such infamous policies as Executive Order 13769 (aka the “Muslim Ban”), the 120-day suspension of the US Refugee Admissions Program, and the initially indefinite suspension of admitance for Syrian refugees.
Since being fired from the White House, Bannon has focused on assisting far-right and fascist party candidates around the world, including UK Independence Party, France’s National Front, Alternative for Germany and Brazil’s now victorious fascist Jair Bolsonaro. He continues to also maintain influence in mainstream conservative parties, such as the US Republicans and Israeli Likud.

Revolutionary Communists - Peterborough
Excerpt from our current reading 'On the Vanguard Party, Once Again' by Kevin "Rashid" Johnson:
A revolutionary mass struggle needs an MLM party style leadership, like the body needs a healthy central nervous system. The masses without their own revolutionary party is like a body without a healthy CNS, in that they only react spontaneously (reflexively) to their pain and discomfort and look to outside forces to think for them and control their choices and actions. They can’t effectively unite, organize and coordinate their activities or even be conscious of themselves as a common organism (class), nor intelligently analyze, judge and solve their problems, especially more complex ones that require deeper study and analysis.
How many of us, because of being controlled by external forces and/or not thinking beyond reflex, emotion, impulse, prejudice and rhetoric, cause ourselves pain, injury and even death, or readily attack and destroy others for little or nothing? This is because at the class, national and individual levels, we lack a healthy CNS (mass-based leadership) that genuinely and organically recognizes and serves our interests.
Just as a centralized leadership is needed in the communal village to organize and “keep the unity of the people,” so too do we as vastly larger and more complex oppressed classes and nationalities need the same. Only the MLM party structure has proven able to do this.
You can have an anarchist bookstore or bakery, and be quite successful. But we’re not talking about something so localized, simple and basic. We’re talking about overthrowing the monopoly capitalist ruling class and transforming the political economy and social relations of the whole world to end all oppression and exploitation. This is not so simple and cannot be done in an anarchistic fashion.

For the next few months, Revolutionary Communists - Peterborough will be holding a semi-public advanced reading group exploring the Maoist party. Event pages will be set up for further study sessions, the first of which will occur on August 3rd.
Participants are expected to read the material beforehand, and copies of material can be provided if necessary. A group presentation and discussion will follow, highlighting the basic points and practical application of each of the works, and finally, we will discuss the text and how we apply it to contemporary society.
These sessions are open to non-members, but are not debate sessions: they are intended for us to collectively improve our understanding of communist theory.
If you'd like to attend, send us a message or talk to a supporter of the PCR-RCP at further events.

Revolution: possible then, necessary now. Build the Party!
"100 years ago today, the working class successfully seized and held state power for the first time. In 1917 the Bolsheviks overthrew the Russian Tzar and established a socialist society that shook the capitalist world order to its foundation, and which has inspired multiple movements and successive revolutions from all corners of the globe over the past 100 years. Upon the red tides unleashed by this event hundreds of revolutionary ships were launched.
Politics is a question of power: who wields it and toward what end. The history of all hitherto existing societies had been the history of class struggles, of various ruling classes (slave-owners and landlords, of capitalists and petty warlords) each exploiting and oppressing the vast majority of the people in their own unique ways. The October Revolution marked a decisive shift in human history. The great majority, the proletariat and other working classes for the first time gained the upper hand and built a society in their own interests."

SMASH ILLUSIONS: POWER AND THE STRUGGLE AGAINST FASCISM
New document from the Parti communiste révolutionnaire / Revolutionary Communist Party on the struggle against fascism!
"Thousands are being drawn towards revolutionary politics for the first time: the capitalist class’s concern about “radicalization” is a testament to this fact. An entire generation is being steeled in the struggle against fascism. Despite declarations of the “end of history” and the “end of ideology”, nothing could be further from the truth. The people know that we have reached a “breaking point,” that society is set up for the benefit of the rich, that the police are our enemies, that fascism is on the rise, and that things cannot continue like they used to. Millions of workers and oppressed people across Canada, during breakroom conversations with fellow workers, during heated discussions with friends and family, state some variation of the need for change. First quiet and tepid, it becomes louder, angrier. First scattered, it becomes more articulate. First directionless, it quickly becomes directed at the principle enemy: the capitalist class and their state. Who would have thought, even six months ago, that the public conversation would have been the extent to which it is acceptable for the extreme left –now enough of a force that capitalist media was forced to identify them as communists and anarchists – to use violence against fascists? At one time the revolutionary movement wondered what type of practical activity it needed to engage in; now the problem is that we do not have enough cadre to intervene in every contradiction which is busted open. While we are far from a revolutionary situation, revolution is again on the agenda. It is the end of the end of history."
Peterborough Against Fascism
Today, Peterborough Against Fascism led the charge in directly confronting N**i organizing in our community. We showed up an hour earlier than their rally was scheduled, and after waiting around for the n***s to show up, they never did. We then received word that the n***s were rallying several blocks over, in a moments notice, Peterborough Against Fascism mobilized a large contingent of the rally to chase down the n***s who, to the beat of our drums and our chants of "No Racists, No Fascists, All Power to the Masses", were forced to run through residential neighbourhoods with us close behind them. After chasing them clear off, we returned to the park where a clash with a straggling n**i ensued, wearing a shirt featuring swastikas and totenkopfs, the N**i was confronted, beaten, and chased down the street away from the rally. At this point, two comrades were arrested and undercover police attempted to assault several of our members. The rally then surrounded the police car to chants of 'Cops and Klan go Hand in Hand', and after over 15 minutes of chanting, our comrades were released.
Thank you to everyone who showed up from local organizations and fought alongside us today. Thank you to everyone who traveled in from out of town and across Ontario to send these N**is packing.
No Pasaran! N**is were shown clearly that they aren't welcome in our community. We need to continue building the anti-fascist movement, serving the people, and mobilizing Peterborough to make sure that white supremacist and N**i organizing efforts are crushed the moment they arise.

AN APPEAL ON THE 150th ANNIVERSARY OF A PRISON HOUSE OF NATIONS
Today marks the 150th anniversary of Canada. Canada, a prison-house of nations, which keeps indigenous peoples subjugated under colonial rule. Canada, a dream-come-true for the rich, which continually attacks the working class and provides a veritable playground for the capitalist class. Canada, a country which is a breeding-ground for all other forms of oppression, constantly dehumanizing the most marginalized within our societies. Canada: a source of misery for millions and millions, at home, and around the world. Canada: a country which must be ended if the masses in this country are to enjoy even the most basic human dignity.
To indigenous peoples, who have struggled so long against Canadian colonialism: keep up the struggle for legitimate national self-determination! Do not settle for “reconciliation” or whatever other traps the Canadian state has set for us on our path to liberation. Nothing short of full control over our lands, resources, and people –in short, complete control over our futures as nations – will be able to overturn the effects of centuries of colonialism. And know that in the struggle for national self-determination, the Revolutionary Communist Party will be right alongside us, fighting to dismantle the prison-house of nations known as Canada.
To the workers and poor of Canada, settler, immigrant, and indigenous: we are poor because others are rich. The Canadian state has expertly crafted a system in which the work we do goes to benefit a small minority rather than improving our lives. While the rich go on expensive vacations, eat the finest foods, and relax in luxury, we work day-in-and-day-out and go into debt just to make ends meet. In almost every conceivable way, profit is put before people. It is not our fault: the system was designed this way. But it doesn’t have to be this way! Our enemies are not indigenous peoples and immigrants, but the capitalist class and the capitalist system itself! If we unite and fight, not only can we make gains –higher wages, cheaper rent, better working conditions, etc. – and improve our situation under the current system, but we can overthrow capitalism itself and build a world without exploitation: a world where we as workers aren’t treated as expendable wealth creators, but rather as people. The Revolutionary Communist Party will work tirelessly to this end, struggling alongside all those who fight for a better world.
To all other oppressed peoples in Canada: know that our struggles are also legitimate and just. Whether we struggle against xenophobia, anti-Black racism, racism, sexism, heterosexism, cis-sexism, homophobia, ableism, or any other form of oppression, it is absolutely correct to demand basic human dignity against the systems which conspire to dehumanize us. While it can be tempting to look at each of these struggles as disconnected and unique, it is only through uniting –understanding our common humanity – that we can truly be successful in building a world without oppression. And in the struggles against specific forms of oppression, as well as the battle to unite these struggles together, the Revolutionary Communist Party is with us.
Who are we? The Revolutionary Communist Party is not a political party like the mainstream parties: we have no interest in parliament, and we don’t make promises we have no intention of keeping. The tasks we have set for ourselves are simple to grasp: the overthrow of the colonial Canadian state in order to secure real self-determination for all oppressed nations in what is now Canada, the end of capitalism in order to ensure that survival and a high quality of life for all is guaranteed, the construction of a truly democratic society so that we –all workers and oppressed peoples- can have control over our lives, and the end of Canadian imperialism to ensure that we do not live well here at the expense of others across the planet. In short, we struggle for socialism. And we know that the capitalist class will not grant this without a fight: the only way to build a truly just world is revolution. Among our members are indigenous peoples and settlers, immigrants and non-immigrants, men, women, and trans and non-binary people, students, workers, old and young. We come from all parts of Canada, and are united in our singular goal of overthrowing all existing social conditions. And it is only through this revolutionary unity that we can be successful in our respective struggles.
The time for action is now. We call upon all those who struggle for a better world to reach out to the Revolutionary Communist Party. Email us at [email protected]: we are active across Canada. It is only through bringing our various struggles together and planning a strategic path forward that we can successfully overthrow capitalism, imperialism, and colonialism. For far too long the capitalist class has been winning. We can reverse the tide. We have nothing to lose but our chains: we have a world to win. End Canada!

Earlier today, the RGSE were alerted to a group of anti-choice "activists" pamphleting and spewing their nonsense in the busiest part of downtown Peterborough. Comrades within minutes convened to promptly shut them down. Within 45 minutes, shaken and not expecting the large outpouring of combative progressives, the anti-choicers left with their disgusting signs in hand. Dozens of downtown locals and workers came out of their homes and businesses to scorn the anti-choice protesters.

150 Years of Brutal State Repression!
The Canadian state has, since the inception of Canada, been used a tool of mass repression to put down Indigenous resistance and anti-capitalist movements. Whether it be in Montreal, using tear gas to choke out students protesting for their education, workers on strike, LGBTQ people standing up for their rights, or Indigenous peoples defending their land; smashing the Canadian state is the only answer for us if we're to build a just and truly liberated society.

Nestlé Waters Canada is permitted to bottle 12 million litres of water per day in Ontario for $3.71 per million litres. The government is allowing Nestlé to take water for next to nothing, while Indigenous peoples living on reserves can't get access to freshwater, and over 137 First Nations communities are under boil water advisories, 100 of them for more than a decade.
Near Elora, the traditional territory of the Six Nations of the Grand River, Nestlé has bought the permits to wells that provide water to entire communities like Aberfoyle, Ontario where Nestlé has continued to bottle water despite droughts.

While on a “humanitarian” mission in Somalia in 1993, members of the Canadian Airborne Regiment (CAR) brutally beat and sexually abused Shidane Arone, a Somali teenager, until he died.
CAR also shot two unarmed Somalis in the back, killing them. The CAR also fired on a group of Somalis protesting their presence, killing one and injuring two.
Officers later tried to cover up the incident, altering documents relevant to the subsequent inquiry. The CAR was known as a hotbed of explicit white supremacist organizing in their home base of Petawawa.

The Canadian state, through its intelligence agency CSIS, helped form the Heritage Front and subsequently provided resources and leadership to the white nationalist organization. The Heritage Front gathered disparate neo-N**is, and in the 90s became one of the strong fascist organizations in Canadian history.
Be it through support for N**is overseas, providing a safe refuge for fascists in Canada, and the direct support for neo-N**i groups like the Heritage Front, the Canadian state has a history of supporting the far-right and racist groups.
And yet, for the Canada 150 celebrations, we're asked to forget about all of this and celebrate Canada as a place of "diversity", "equality", and "mutual respect."

The two richest Canadians have more money than the poorest eleven million Canadians.
Top CEOs earn 193 times what the average worker makes. By noon on January 3rd, they'd already made as much as an average worker makes in a year.
Almost all productivity growth over the past 40 years has gone into the pockets of the rich, rather than the rest of us actually producing the wealth.
Canada might be great for the wealthy, but it's not so great for the rest of us. And the politicians, because they're in the pockets of the rich, won't do anything about it.
Only the collective revolutionary action of the working class and oppressed in Canada can end capitalism and guarantee a decent standard of living for all.

Canadian mining companies are some of the worst abusers of social and human rights on earth. Just like at home, Canadian mining companies abroad destroy the environment and local communities as they mine resources out of the ground. And when locals stand up and resist? Canadian mining companies make sure that they are killed.
Canadian mining companies have been implicated in the deaths of dozens of Indigenous activists all over the world. To learn more about them, check out these links:

Expulsion of the Montreal and Valleyfield Cells of the Revolutionary Communist Party
Statement from the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Communist Party (PCR-RCP). Please share widely.
"It is with great sadness that the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Communist Party (PCR-RCP) announces the expulsion of the Montreal and Valleyfield cells of the PCR-RCP. While we recognize that this is a heavy-handed measure, our hand has been forced. The leadership of the Montreal cell has seized control of the Party’s website and is actively preventing communications between the Central Committee and the cells in Montreal and Valleyfield. Thus we are unable to discern to what extent the members of these cells agree support the actions of the old-ideas clique. As a result, insofar as these two cells ostensibly do not recognize the legitimacy of the Party leadership, we are left with no other choice than to expel the cells as a whole. We recognize that not all members of these cells support the obstructionist behaviour of the old-ideas clique; as we will outline below, we therefore invite any members of these cells who recognize the legitimate leadership of the Party to get in contact with us for re-admission into the Party."
