I could blame my delay in posting this on the hectic pace of life but probably it’s more the attempt at denying life moves on.

Ellie is retiring - with her person graduating this year and moving onto new adventures Ellie’s Acres will no longer be operating.

Thank you very much to all who have supported Ellie (and Teri) with purchasing vegetables over the last few years. It provided a teenager with some valuable life skills and a great way to save up for a car purchase!

Deliveries available for minimum of $15 orders to Brandon, Souris and Alexander. Ellie's Acres will also be appearing at the Souris Market Garden Saturday, July 20 - bell rings at 9:30!

Halloween is less than 2 weeks away - do you have your pumpkins to decorate your front step yet? We still have a few left. Email, message or phone us to make arrangements to get yours!

Seems like everyone is adding Pumpkin spice to their menu - not to be outdone, we suggest Pumpkin pie fruit leather. A few ingredients poured into a dehydrator and in a day or so you have pumpkin pie you can put in your pocket (although we don't recommend you do because the pocket lint would stick to it). It's much easier to mail than a pie to family members living away from home! And if you need a pumpkin, we've got you covered!

Photos from Ellie's Acres's post 27/09/2018

Pickup of pumpkins will pull up to your palace on Saturday, September 29th, (providing you live in Brandon) and you can pick out your perfect pumpkin - message us or email us at [email protected] to set up a precise point of the day for the pumpkin pickup to pull up to your palace;). Don't procrastinate and possibly pass up the chance to have the prettiest pumpkin!
25% of all pumpkins will be passed on to Funds for Furry Friends

27/09/2018

This is the big one of the crop - he comes in at 24" tall by 22" wide, measuring 67 1/2" around and weighs 105 pounds. We will deliver to Brandon or Souris. $30 and 25% of sales goes to Funds for Furry Friends

Photos from Ellie's Acres's post 21/09/2018

Don't let the weather or the Christmas decorations out at Walmart confuse you - it's still fall and YOU need a pumpkin or two (or 10 or 12) for your Thanksgiving and Halloween decorations! We will have a truckload of pumpkins at the Souris Farmers Market tomorrow (Sept 22nd) morning - rain or shine from 9:30-11:00. Come pick out your pumpkins.
25% of pumpkin sales are going towards Funds For Furry Friends.

15/09/2018

*update* Ellie has called off attending the Souris Farmer’s market this week (Sept 15th). We will be there next week (Sept 22nd) for the final Farmer’s Market and Scarecrow days!
Weather pending, Ellie is sending us to the Farmer's Market in Souris tomorrow. We will have pumpkins, buttercup squash, beets and carrots.

It's pumpkin season!

We've got big ones, small ones, orange and white and colored. Carving, pie ones and something for your mother. Call us 7 days a week or email if you want to take a peek... Amazing (those over 40 from the Westman area who watched CKX will recongize what i did there with the old Television City jingle;)

The pumpkins have come in out of the cold and are ready to be bought and brought home.

As always, 25% of pumpkin sales will be donated to Funds For Furry Friends so other dogs (and yes, Ellie - the cats too) will be able to find their forever home and maybe even get into business with their new owners like Ellie did!

Can you believe it's finaly that time of year to enjoy the fresh vegetables from the garden?!? Ellie was eyeing up the porkchop but when there are fresh beets, lettuce and zucchini - I was willing to surrender the meat!

We have some pink pumpkins, some pink pumpkins that have a bit of blue and this season's surprise - the warty pumpkins (both pink and kind of orange warty). We weren't sure about these accidental seeds, but they kinda 'grew' on us. Lots of customers have been excited about the texture and the unique look will add to your Halloween display! $8 for all colored pumpkins.

Another pumpkin idea that doesn't involve a pie crust - pumpkin leather! Of course there were seeds from the same pumpkin but the leather took about 24 hours in the dehydrator so the seeds were toasted and consumed long before the pumpkin leather was ready for a picture! Pie pimpkins are $3 each or 2/$5.

Time to clear off the garden! 10 lbs of beets or carrots (or 5 lbs of each) for $5. Beets have been so popular that they are all spoken for! We still have lots of carrots (10 lbs for $5) and we also have tomatoes both big and tiny tim's as well as cucumbers that would work well for relish.
Deliveries to be made weekend of Sept 30/Oct 1st.
Still available: garlic (2/$1), zucchini $1, and squash (spaghetti, turban and butternut) $2 each. Pie pumpkins $3 each or 2/$5 and don't forget to order your pumpkins for Halloween. 25% of all pumpkin sales goes to Funds for Furry Friends.
Email your order to [email protected] or visit our website www.elliesacres.ca. Free delivery to Brandon, Souris and Alexander on minimum orders of $10.

"Pie pumpkins" sounds intimidating for anyone like myself that couldn't make a pie if my life depended on it. However they are for more than pie! Today's pumpkin became pumpkin cranberry oat cookies and pumpkin loaf - and as an added benefit, pumpkin seeds toasted for snacking purposes! Of course for you gifted bakers, you can turn these pumpkins into pie as well!
Pie pumpkins are $3 each or 2/$5 with 25% of all sales going to Funds for Furry Friends.

Our Story

Love fresh vegetables but don't like gardening?
Want fresh vegetables but can’t seem to get to the front of the line at the market garden?

Ellie's Acres has been offering delivery of fresh garden produce to folks in Souris, Manitoba and Brandon, Manitoba since 2016.

Recently we started attending the Market Garden in Souris on Saturday mornings in the summer and met many wonderful weekly customers!

It all started with a patch of pumpkins that produced really well. It’s fun to see what a girl and her dog can accomplish!
