Two years ago I released my Holiday EP and made a few videos... This song will always be one of my favourites. I paired the song with some family photos, and watching it again today filled me with all the nostalgia. I hope you enjoy!

Hello friends! Saturday is the big day for the CTV Christmas Daddies Telethon
They will be raising funds for kids in need, and throughout the day will have an amazing list of performers from across the maritimes!
Including me... haha! I'll be on in the last hour between 5 and 6pm.
They've been raising money for children for 60 YEARS!
It's a wonderful thing, and always fun to watch.
See you on the TeeVeeeeeeee.

It has been a hot minute since I got to make music with these stellar humans...
We gathered to record a live version of Coyote and it was the absolute funnest time.
Missing them today!
You can find the video we did on my youtube channel (@ CatherineMacLellanMusic)

I absolutely loved making the video for Calling You Home...
It was made using all found footage of Christmas's past. It feels very nostalgic to me.
The song was written during the first Christmas of the pandemic, when there were lockdowns, closed borders, and people couldn't be with their loved ones.
It's the simple things we miss the most when we can't have them - sharing a meal with our friends and family is the big one for me.
Here's hoping you all can be with the ones you love in this holiday season, and if not, that you find warmth and light at this darkest time.
xoxo

It was a real treat to play for the crowd at the annual City of Charlottetown, PE And now it feels like the festive season has really kicked off and all I want to do is drink hot cocoa and knit.
I have a few Christmas-y shows coming up.
You can find me with Rachel MacLean and Sons of Maxwell in Wolfville on Dec 11, at the Harmony House Theatre with Logan Richard and with the talented Mr Nick Gauthier in Souris December 16 at the Fiddling Fisherman Lookout

It’s that time of year again, when we take a moment to raise some funds for children in need.
🎄🎅🎁🎄
How are the Christmas Daddies funds used? The funds raised through the Christmas Daddies program provide food, toys and gifts for less fortunate children during the Holiday season. The Salvation Army distributes these funds throughout Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.
This live show is admission by donation - so come on out to the on November 14.
And then tune into the telethon:

We've lost a dear friend in the music community.
David Gavan Baxter .
There have been so many losses over the last few years, it’s been hard to keep up with the grief.
I talked to David on the phone last Saturday & he told me he didn’t have long left. I had to go to Toronto to sit with him & his family & friends.
One could only hope for a send off like Bax had. Days of friends coming through to speak with him, sing to him, hold his hand.
Wednesday night a bunch of us sat around his bed singing songs. It was rollicking. Though he was tired & weak, he was still directing, producing, calling out chord changes & telling Kevin Breit "too many chords".
The next day was harder for him, but he was able to communicate how deeply he felt the love. Even his guitar hero Tom Bukovac was kind enough to send a message that he received with gratitude.
I am so honoured to have stayed by him for 3 days. To have had a chance to play him songs & share stories of our friendship.
He was one of my first believers. My cheerleader. My guide.
He believed in me when no one else did.
And he was grumpy AF. He could drive you nuts.
Many people know him as a guitar player, a producer… but he did many things throughout his life. He was a great songwriter.
The first time we met, I was 25, a single mom with a fledgling music career. I showed up at Joanne Mackell’s Jambo on Ward’s Island. It is where I met many of my Toronto musician friends for the first time. Everyone was dancing, and I asked David lightheartedly if he wanted to dance. He said, “I don’t know how to waltz.” I said “me either, we can make a waltz of our own”. Which became the basis for a co-write.
We made records together, toured together. He connected me to countless musicians and friends.
David was complicated. His doctor at the hospital aptly called him “the lovable crusty sort”. He was loyal. He loved his friends hard. He was deeply proud of his son. He spent his whole life playing music. Any musician would be proud of the legacy he leaves behind.
For me, I’m going to miss my friend. His phone calls, his sense of humour, his pointed advice, his spirit.
Deepest sympathy to his family.

I'm so excited to be heading to London, England for this very fun show!
Inn Echo and I will be representing our beautiful , with a very special guest Sam Carter
Sam is no stranger to the Island. We spent time together in PEI writing songs and playing shows, seems like a lifetime ago. So I'm thrilled to be back sharing a stage with him.
And the beautiful souls of Inn Echo are some of my favourite humans and musicians.
This mix of songwriters and trad music might be my very favourite.
Honestly can't wait. Thanks to Music PEI for putting this together!

I’ve been scanning and preserving family photos recently and love this one from Val d’Or, 1938.
My grandparents with my Aunt Joan and my dad Gene.
Enjoying the terrified and bothered look that sort of ruins this otherwise adorable family pic. 😂

Delivered my favourite human to Toronto for the next stage of her life. Had some beautiful visits with friends and now made it all the way back home.
Excited for as she embarks on her university career, and living in a big city and navigating life on her own.

Well what can I say after spending a week in ?
Here are a few, but certainly not all the magical moments I caught at .
I was honoured to be part of the songwriting camp, close out the main stage on Saturday night, and join so many powerful humans on the gospel set. It was a non-stop race to the finish and I loved every moment.
Thanks again to all the volunteers, Festival team, songwriters and folk fans for giving it all you had!
I miss you already!

This is summer in PEI.
Taking time right now between shows to rest, learn, clean and make sure I’m at the beach a lot.
What are you doing?
Headed back to for Tuesday and Wednesday show of and then off to and
See you somewhere?!

Opening night was amazing!
Thank you to everyone who came out to support us, you were the very best!
Tonight we play again, and then we're not back at the Harbourfront Theatre til July 18th...
So truly grateful to be able to share my dad's story again, and to be able to sing so many of his amazing songs. But getting to talk about mental health is the big "why" for me. So many people, like my dad did, suffer without feeling able to talk about it. He wasn't able to find the help he needed, but I hope that more and more people can.
And in these divided times, sharing our stories and listening to others - truly seeing one another and being curious - is our magic power.

One week til my show at and I’m preparing the visual aspect - so many great pictures and the odd newspaper clipping.
Part of my “why” for doing this show is to get his story straight.
When my dad died all the news reports got so many details wrong and I realized no one really knew him. Least of all me.
A small example of the misinformation, but not that small - my dad was born in February 1938 and died in Jan 1995. Do the math.
He was 56, not 54.

Also, a few name drops of incredible people who are now gone as well - Neil Matthews, Ken MacCaull. 🤍🤍🤍
