BRAVO ZULU to the crew of HMCS Calgary for winning the Navy Bike Ride Masthead Challenge 🏆 With over 8,700 Km ridden in June, HMCS Calgary won both the prizes of most riders over 100 Km and most Km rode by the top 5 🚴‍♂️

Piece of advice from all of us at the Calgary: train and pull hard 💪 As you can see, the team is already training for next year by pulling our special chuck wagon 🐎

BRAVO ZULU à l’équipage du NCSM Calgary pour avoir remporté le Concours de vélo du Pavillon de la Marine. Avec plus de 8,700 Km parcourus durant le mois de juin, le NCSM Calgary a remporté les deux 🏆 pour le plus grand nombre de membres ayant parcouru plus de 100 Km et pour le plus grand nombre de Km parcourus par le top 5 🚴‍♀️

Pour les membres du Calgary, la recette du succès consiste à tirer le chariot du Calgary à chaque séance d’entraînement 💪 Vous pouvez d’ailleurs déjà les voir en train de s’entraîner pour la prochaine édition du concours 🐎

Taking a break from the festivities of , our Commanding Officer, Cdr Woodburn, and sailors had the opportunity to visit Calgary Firefighters Burn Treatment Center. Thank you and for this incredibly interesting tour.

Profitant d’une pause des festivités du , notre Commandant, le Capf Woodburn, et des membres de notre équipage ont eu l’occasion de visiter le Centre de traitement pour grands brulés des pompiers de Calgary. Merci et pour cette visite très intéressante.

Today, HMCS Calgary held a Change of Command Ceremony between Commander Jeremy Samson and the incoming Commanding Officer, Matt Woodburn. This was presided over by the Commander of Canadian Fleet Pacific, Commodore David Mazur. Commander Woodburn got the chance to introduce themselves to the crew at the Barn Burner. The ship’s company is enthusiastic for Cdr Woodburn to take the reins of HMCS Calgary out DWP.

We wish Cdr Samson fair wins and following seas at your new unit. HMCS / NCSM Regina will be in good hands.



Aujourd'hui, le NCSM Calgary a tenu une cérémonie de passation de commandement entre le commandant Jeremy Samson et le nouveau commandant, Matt Woodburn. Cette réunion était présidée par le commandant de la Flotte canadienne du Pacifique, le commodore David Mazur. Le commandant Woodburn a eu la chance de se présenter à l'équipage au Barn Burner. L’équipage du navire est enthousiaste à l’idée que le Capf Woodburn prenne les rênes du NCSM Calgary au DWP.

Nous souhaitons au Capf Samson de belles victoires et de suivre les mers dans votre nouvelle unité. Le NCSM Regina sera entre de bonnes mains.

Not Just Another Hollywood Ending… From 28 to 29 of February, the crew of HMCS Calgary participated on a professional development day.

It wasn’t all geopolitics, occupational program opportunities and administrative knowledge. The ship finished the PD day with a special screening of “Land of Bad” at the cineplex.



Pas juste une autre fin hollywoodienne… Les 28 et 29 février, l'équipage du NCSM Calgary a participé à une journée de perfectionnement professionnel.

Il ne s’agissait pas uniquement de géopolitique, d’opportunités de programmes professionnels et de connaissances administratives. Le navire a terminé la journée avec une projection spéciale de « Land of Bad » au cinéma.

As of May 2023, there are 12 women at the general and flag officer ranks in the CAF. Since 2017, the number of women in senior non-commissioned member ranks also rose to 73 chief warrant officers and chief petty officers 1st class, as did the number of women in Special Forces roles. Today we celebrate and encourage women to keep opening doors for the new comers. Happy international women’s day!

En mai 2023, il y avait 12 femmes aiiux grades de général et d’officier général dans les FAC. Depuis 2017, le nombre de femmes dans les rangs des sous-officiers supérieurs est également passé à 73 adjudants-chefs et premiers maîtres de 1re classe, tout comme le nombre de femmes occupant des postes dans les forces spéciales. Aujourd’hui, nous célébrons et encourageons les femmes à continuer d’ouvrir les portes aux nouvelles arrivantes. Bonne journée internationale de la femme !

Our first annual Road Hockey Rodeo was a blast! Congratulations to the Warriors for taking home the big win. The winner's trophy will be proudly displayed in City Hall and up-for-grabs next year!

Notre premier Rodéo de hockey sur route annuel a été un véritable succès! Félicitations aux Warriors qui ont remporté la victoire. Le trophée du vainqueur sera fièrement exposé à l'hôtel de ville et sera prêt pour les prochains vainqueurs l'année prochaine !

Our sincerest thanks to the Baitun Nur Mosque in NW Calgary for the amazing tour and hospitality. This is the first time that the mosque has been toured by uniformed members of the Canadian Armed Forces. We can't wait to visit again!

We were thrilled to present a cheque for $25,967 to the Calgary Firefighters Burn Treatment Society (CFBTS). The vision of the CFBTS is to support initiatives that will improve outcomes and quality of life for burn survivors and individuals affected by other severe skin injuries.

CFBTS is one of flagship charities supported by HMCS Calgary in our namesake city.
