Sleep is important medicine for all of us. Lack of sleep can make you more susceptible to a whole host of diseases by lowering your immunity! Lack of sleep can have a serious impact on your mental health as well. Sleep is when we heal physically and emotionally.
We need sleep for energy, focus, vitality and ability to do all the things we want while maintaining a positive mood.
Lack of sleep makes us hungrier; increasing ghrelin, the hunger hormone and decreasing the appetite suppressing hormone Leptin which can lead to weight gain.
I struggled with sleep during menopause and caught a rare autoimmune lung disease that took me out for 2 years! I donโt want that for anyone so as a wellness practitioner, I have taken a deep dive into best practices to get your solid 7-8 hours of blissful uninterrupted deep nourishing sleep!
At our Sunday 90 min ZenYOGA workshops, we learn a new topic each week as well as do a YOGA practice and meditation!
This week the topic is on becoming a SLEEP rockstar, a Sleep YOGA flow to set you up for a great slumber, a meditation for sleep PLUS a bonus tea to help you drift off!!

Remember healing is not on a timeline.
There is no schedule for when closure will happen.
Youโre not checking off all the boxes when you do the work, and then it happens.
We do the work, release the suffering from the mind and body, process all the pain one step at a time, and then we give up expectations of the closure.
Healing is not linear. Closure happens most often when you least expect it.

This SUNDAYโs ZenYOGA workshop for Stress, Anxiety & Sleep is YIN YOGA!! ๐งโโ๏ธ
What is YIN YOGA and why is it incredible for calming your nervous system, releasing deeply rooted emotions, lengthening tight muscles and setting you up for a blissful sleep? ๐งโโ๏ธโฎ๏ธ๐ด๐ฅฐ
Yin Yoga is slow-paced style of yoga as exercise, incorporating principles of traditional Chinese medicine, with asanas (postures) that are held for longer periods of time (2-7 minutes) than in other styles.
Lots of props for maximum comfort and support. Blankets and cozy socks for warmth. ๐
Warning - you may fall asleep ๐คฃ
In fact, I did fall asleep one time while teaching an on line class! ๐
Itโs a beautiful practice and definitely my fav when I need to slow down, give my body some self-love, my muscles are super tight, I feel overwhelmed and/ or need to calm the monkey mind before bed! ๐๐๐

Nov 19th Intension: โItโs out of my hands, so it deserves freedom from my mind too.โ
Letting go is important but often it lingers in our mind and manifests as stress and worry. I just saw my daughter off at the airport and then worried needlessly all the way home. Moms do this! We are the worst worriers! I needed to repeat this intention, breathe and know that she was out of my hands, have trust that she would find her way and release it from my mind. Todays intention is a good one. What is out of your hands that you need to release from your mind? Close your eyes and repeat it 3 times. ๐
