Every winter I get the opportunity to work with some amazingly talented folks. A lot of the shots never see the light of day as those talented individuals try to sell each shot to magazines, companies, advertising campaigns etc to get paid. With an abundance of great photos not everyone can garner the arguing it may deserve. So thank you to everyone who’s trudged in the cold to try and make some art with me over the years. Here are some snap shots from over the years. In these hot summer days I think to making art like this again this winter. Thanks to every photographer who I’ve had the pleasure of working with! Balancing the need for light within the constraints of building codes, maximizing window coverage in tight spaces, accounting for heavy snow loads, and creating a spacious interior present unique challenges. Our preliminary design addresses these considerations, and although this design is in its preliminary phases and certain elements continue to get refined, these realistic renders provide a deeper understanding of how the home integrates seamlessly into its surroundings."

Weekend adventures

and I got up to some adventures this weekend. On Friday we tested out our new pizza ovens and then yesterday we headed out for a longer bike ride on Keystone here in Revelstoke.

Deeeeep days

One of the lightest snow days in my life. and I headed down to the states to visit some friends. We met up with and he showed us around some of his stomping grounds ….. not a bad day.

Summer exercise
•
Love to get out and after the trains in the summer time. I also play pick up soccer. Do you have anything you do In the summer to keep active?
•

Getting after it on the weekends.
•
This can mean so many different things to so many different people.
•
For me, I woke up this morning, had a coffee with my wife and our dogs, cut the grass, and made pancakes. And that’s the main goals for the day. There’s a play off game this afternoon that I’ll be taking on, but other than that, those are the plans.
•
What am I going to do the rest of the day? Who knows, I have some computer work I could catch up on, take the dogs for a walk, maybe get in a little work out.
•
It’s easy to see adventurous folks always getting after it, and from my perspective, sometimes I see the constant adventurer using adventure as a form of escape. Escape from responsibilities, escape from problems in their lives, escape from harder things they don’t want to deal with.
•
It’s okay to want to go do things, and it’s okay to not want to go do things, just make sure you check in every once and a while on yourself to make sure you’re doing or not doing things for a good reason.
•

What a day!

We haven’t had fresh snow in a minute, sun has effected almost everything, people are starting to think about bikes and golf… so what do you do when your bud asks you to tag along for a Subpeak lap with their young son?

You bring along a professional photographer and make a day of it!

The next generation of skiers is amazing! Conquering fears, exploring new terrain, and getting better shots than most pros (these are all my iPhone photos)

Moments in the mountains

Collaborating with photographers is something I truly love. Finding a frame, working with ever changing conditions. Spitballing ideas, it’s a creative process through and through.

Coming at you!
•
Well, if you follow my feed regularly, I’m sure you’ve felt like I’ve been jamming my new short film down your throat, so here is a departure from that and some good old fashioned skiing.
•
Instagram - instant gram - started out as an APP to share things in the present. A birthday party, mountain adventure, or a picture of your cat. But it has evolved, to top accounts showing you carefully curated images of excellence. Now we are shown the best cakes from cake masters, the perfect sunset, the best pow turn etc. It gives a false sense of what life really is, the now.
•
Today, I ask you to be present, even if it’s just once. Question the facts your told and try and research your own answer, listen to someone in need without trying to solve their problems, question wether you need that next slice of pizza or if you really want to watch that 17th episode of breaking bad, or if you’re just giving in and succumbing to mediocrity.
•
Just do it once today, for 1 minute. And then maybe again tomorrow, and maybe after a while, enough of us will have started to question things again, to try again, to listen again, to evolve again. It’s not an new idea, but I present it to you again trying to be present myself.
•

Neoteny: A short film about playing in the snow

A Blizzard | Tecnica film

This story follows the adventures of Kim & JJ Vinet during one of their days touring around Revelstoke, BC. Using this ski touring experience as the canvas, the athletes explore the idea of play, and the importance of retaining that skill into adulthood. The film reminds us to explore new things in the face of fear and risk while also reminding us not to take life so seriously and enjoy the moments of happiness that are all around us.
