After consultation earlier this year with one of our local gentlemen who was retiring from providing snow plow services I decided this would be a great way to meet people in my community. It's been a challenge to say the least with the largest snowfall in a zillion years. I can say I'm so pleased to have met so many new people so far.

I've learned lots and am very pleased to be entrusted with your property/safety in plow-able storms.

With this past storm, it hasn't been the perfect runway for a plow to operate. There are some stellar humans in my community who have pulled out their tractors and blowers to help those I could not reach during the storm - mainly due to inaccessibility by road.

In these extreme conditions they kept the wheels spinning until they have either:
a) fallen off (figuratively)
b) or everyone is out, and safe

Today, we are looking at another snow event. Nothing like the one we just had, but I know it has everyone in our little community a little stressed.

Off I go to move more snow. 🎶

This is an event you do not want to miss!!!

This is going to be awesome. Let the airing of grievances, cat calling and extreme donair-eating begin!
Start your season off with this belly-laughing good time. See what it's all about, and leave the regrets of missing this one behind!

Save the Date!
We are so pumped!
Tickets will go on sale soon!🙌

Mark your calendars - this event is ALWAYS a blast. Come experience Cape Breton in the winter time, and witness this hilarious spectacle. Speeds over 80km/h last year were set by our winners who used everything from extreme Cheeseburget and Donair consumption for the year to strapping parts of a Subaru to their bike for added weight.
Two working brakes, no screw studs. Helmet and a good attitude are a must.
This is a running start Le-Mans style, Mass Start event and it is SO MUCH FUN to rip bikes down the ski hill.

Save the Date!
We are so pumped!
Tickets will go on sale soon!🙌

Plowing Services for contract - Winter 2023 - South of Smokey to Jersey Cove

We are working with Merrill and Allan McInnis as they move towards retiring from offering snowplow services. Our goal is to insure no gaps in service for snow plowing and removal services this coming winter.

We are looking at making a significant investment. We wish to deliver these services here for years to come, however we've got 19 inquiries only so far.

At this time we ask that you please let your friends and neighbors on the North Shore know we are trying to avoid a huge gap in this service which is required.

Please have them make contact via:

EMail: [email protected]
Subject: Winter Plowing
and provide your name, number and civic address please.

Once we've got a list compiled we will assess each property and provide an estimate for services required for your approval.

Please note that without prior contact or assessment we do not know who needs this service and without that, we will not be moving forward with the investments required in order to deliver these services to our community members.

At this time we are entertaining offering these services South of Smokey to Jersey Cove.

Please share with your neighbors and friends.

Another stunning morning grooming over 10km between and .canada Clyburn Trail (3km in and out).
I saw tonnes of snowshoers and XC ski tracks.
If you’re visiting why not bring your XC skis, snowshoes or Fat Bike and explore some of the most beautiful scenery around. Come see for yourself!

Photos from Shoreline Dirtworks's post 09/02/2023

Today we were able to groom just under 3km in, then back at Clyburn Trail .canada's Cape Breton Highlands National Park in Ingonish. It will make for a great base as folks continue to enjoy classic cross-country ski, snowshoe and fatbike. There are now multiple loops and access points to the groomer trails from the at through the course, course access roads and the Clyburn Trail parking lots.
We ask that users please respect the groomer paths and enjoy the off groomers for boot hiking please.
Some of the low, in-river areas of the trail are very thing currently. A solid base we are excited to continue growing with more snow coming this weekend. Stay tuned and come enjoy winter in .

Today we re-groomed, 8.24 km of cart path trails at golf course. These stunning paths run behind .canada Clyburn Trail and around one of the most beautiful golf courses on earth.
Experience winter in .
Try Cross Country Skiing, Fat Bike and Snowshoe on the groomed paths. Please be mindful when you sink and do not walk on the groomer paths with just boots. These holes taint the experience for others.

Speeds of 80+ km hit this year on a corduroy course for the 2023 Mass Start Madness. What a fun time. I want to thank and Bricin of for organizing, staffing with friendly smiles and MCing such an event. It’s all about fun and we had lots.

04/02/2023

Due to the -22+ Wind Chill temperatures forecasted for Saturday, we have made the decision to POSTPONE Mass Start Madness to Sunday, February 5th at 11am.
If you were already registered, an email will be sent to you with your options. All registrations have been automatically transferred to Sunday--if Sunday doesn't work for you, you can request to transfer your pass to another rider or receive a refund.
While we believe that we are making the best decision we can at this time, we understand that it is not everyone’s preferred outcome. We thank you for your understanding, and look forward to riding and laughing with you all til our bellies hurt.
See you all at the MicroBrewery festival and stay well hydrated today!

We want to wish our extreme gratitude to such an amazing community of friends, fans, families and riders. It was your support which made year one of the success that it was.
Race day was an absolute riot. With mother nature throwing sliders our way all winter, race conditions were anyone's guess. Riders showed on everything from hardtails to an eBike sans battery and everything in between. We raced down a challenging combination of ice, slush and snow sure to test the mettle of any rider.
It meant so much for community to come together to cheer and witness the mayhem. I know I will likely miss some names but thank you to for having my back no matter how crazy my ideas may be. To co-organizer for allowing us to create an event with an edge like this. To for their absolute legendary kindness and awesomeness this would have not been possible without your energy and enthusiasm.
To our friends from , , and your amazing kids and every single person who cheered. To the ever so heartwarming scene of local kids here who lined up for rider autographs. My heart is full, to say the least.
We are just getting started here and you are all of our reasons for keeping on the mission. With love and gratitude from us at Shoreline Dirtworks.

.canada Clyburn Valley has a freshly groomed trail as of yesterday.
You can feel the rich history of gold rush hopes and dreams as you weave through this breathtaking valley within Cape Breton's Highlands National Park.
Ideal for fat bike, classic ski and snowshoe, here's another offering in the area to enjoy being outside on some groomed trails.
Let us know what you think in the comments.
If you sink more than one inch, please hike off the groomed trail to allow for others to enjoy when frozen. Thank you.

TrailFlow Outdoor Adventures

With parks and trails starting to open back up here in Nova Scotia were also getting back in the woods.

While it's great that we can start getting outside more, we all need to remember to continue to be safe and obey health guidelines for everyones safety.

Also, a reminder that many of your favorite trails may still be a bit wet and parks crew may not have been out yet to tidy up from winter storms, so be extra careful while you enjoy your trail time.

Our Story

Dirtworks started as a volunteer organization. The organization grew from a life long passion for two wheeled sports, and involvement in the leadership and creation of ecmtb.com: an online community dedicated to mountain biking on the east coast of Canada. ecmtb.com was not only an online community but we hosted and founded multiple socially oriented cycling events.

Through opportunities with ecmtb.com, Adam was part of a team which built multiple facilities to help make this by far the most successful cycling event to hit this part of Canada possibly ever. We hosted Downhill, Dual Slalom and Cross Country race events, and had built a BMX Short Track, Dirt Jumps and a Freeride Park which was well ahead of its time.

Through these opportunities, when it came time to start figuring out how to bring legal Dirt Jump parks to Halifax, Adam’s name was given. Dirtworks started on a volunteer basis for three years.

We have built well over a dozen successful bicycle skills parks featuring jumps, drops, ramps and pump tracks. We have built pump tracks privately.
