Rocky Mountain International Student Program - Cranbrook

Hi Cranbrook. I am currently recruiting for caring homestays to welcome an international student into their family in September 2024. Host families will be compensated $1000/month/student (up to 2 students). Students come from all over to study at Laurie Middle School and Mount Baker Secondary School for 3, 5 or 10 months and attend grades 8-12. Mount Baker Wild Theatre presents 'The Odd Couple'. Tickets are on sale at Key City Theatre . Performances are on December 7th, 8th, and 9th at 7:00pm plus a Matinee on December 10th at 3:00pm

Ice is starting to form on our local water bodies as colder temperatures begin to settle in.

The public must be aware of the dangers of thin ice, especially along Joseph Creek, Elizabeth, and Idlewild Lakes. Thin ice creates many risks for adults, kids, and pets.

Please stay off the ice until it is at least six inches thick. We ask parents and caregivers to talk to their kids about the dangers thin ice presents and encourage adults to lead by example by staying off the ice, too. Protecting your pets from open water bodies and thin ice is also important for their safety.

Please join us and the Royal Canadian Legion Brach #24 for a Remembrance Day Ceremony before puck drop during Friday's game.

We are looking for new homestay families to host an international student (13-18 years old) arriving in September 2024. Host families are needed for 3-month and 5-month stays, as well as for respite coverage for a few days or a few weeks.
