Kings Custom Recraft
Having grown up in Rural Ontario as many of you may also have, I was exposed to a very unique environment. Every piece of that house tells a great story.
Creating custom wood items ranging from furniture and household items to display pieces and artwork using exclusively reclaimed, re-purposed and recycled materials. People for the most part didn't buy many things for their home and property, or hire someone to build things but instead did it all themselves. And if you didn't know a lot about a certain task you would call a friend neighbor or relat

This is a picture of a piece that my dad built many years ago. It was a singer sewing macine that belonged to my great grandmother. But the top had long since fallen apart, the machine didn't work and it was beyond restoration. Many people (especially in todays day and age) would have simply bit the bullet and put it to the curb, but my ever practical father decided to breathe new life into it and give it a new purpose in our home. I chose to include this picture because he was very much the inspiration behind my company and taught me much of what I know :) So do you have any broken or useless items sitting around in your garage, shed, closet or attic that are antique, memorable or have sentimental value to you? Do you find yourself thinking about throwing these things away but just can't seem to part with them? Why not contact me and discuss the possibility of having them re-purposed into a one of a kind item that could be a feature piece in your home to share the story of with friends and family and handed down for years to come? If so, please feel free to contact me and discuss the many possibilities! Consultation and design possibilities are free of charge and I provide drawings and quotes for all concepts before a decision is made. What do you have to lose? :)
Finally finding the time to gather up some photos of my pieces in their new homes. Many thanks to those who have provided them Please take some time to have a look :)
Gun Cabinet Doors
As many of you know, Julia is a very talented artist. And as I would consult with her for artistic input to my pieces she really started to take an interest in putting our 2 skills together. Her are a few examples of the unique and amazing results :)
Final Destinations...
Years ago my brother asked my dad if he could build him a custom wooden gun cabinet. The two of them worked together getting the materials and hardware and my dad designed and built the cabinet. Over time unfortunately, one of the doors started to warp slightly. So recently my brother asked me if I could build him a new set of doors for the cabinet that were a little different so that his cabinet could be a combination of mine and my fathers work. Here is the result :)
This is a piece that I just finished recently. It was suggested by friends who were considering it for their house but have since decided to go with something else, so I am going to be offering it for sale. I will finish it in any style you would like from clear coat to paint, and deliver :) Feel free to message me for further details!

The Chess Game Table
Kings Custom Recraft's cover photo
Hey everyone! Thank you for all of the support and kind wishes. I have been very busy working lately (thankfully) and not able to post many updates but there are a lot of new projects and photos to be posted and I am excited to share it all with you. I will try to get them up ASAP and I have some new offers and ideas to share with you all. Thank you for helping to make my dream a reality. Cheers!
While rooting through the endless materials that my father collected over the years, I came across a ceramic chess board glued down to a scrap piece of plywood in a random pile of lumber. Not long after I found a Crown royal tin on a shelf containing the matching ceramic pieces. I felt strongly that I should do something with this and I immediately thought of the coffee table in my moms living room that contains a game of backgammon under glass. So, I picked up my pencil and started to experiment with ideas. Up to this point I hadn't tackled a larger more complex piece. Part way through the build, I was talking with my brother and he was asking me several questions about how it was coming along and what my plans were for the finish. Little did I know that this was because he wanted to buy it from me so that he could be the owner of the first major piece I had ever built... Needless to say, he is not only a great inspiration to me, but one of the most supportive brothers a person could wish to have ;)
One of the questions I seem to be getting a lot is how can I hope to find enough sources and enough diversity of materials to maintain my company's goal of using only recycled and re-purposed materials. Well, aside from the years worth of materials that my father carefully collected and stored, and the materials that my customers donate to their projects, here are just a few examples of why I will never run out...
here are a couple other related things I have worked on over the past couple of years that I feel really reflect the goals and ideas behind my business...
This is one of my favorite examples of a fully gratifying "Free-Cycle" We had torn out the fence in the back yard to rebuild and I came to the realization that in Toronto, it costs a lot of money to have construction waste removed. So I decided that surely something useful could come from all of this so called "Scrap" wood. So I took a few pieces to the workshop and started to play around. (Title credits to my Amazing brother Rob) :)
As a few of my pieces started to get out there, I finally started getting requests from people beyond friends and family... This was a request from a gentleman who works at the Martyr Shrine in midland, who saw my Mt. St. Louis church birdfeeder, and asked if I could make him a functional bird"house" that was the same.
Hey everyone, I hope you get a chance to stop by and check this out! The page is still a work in progress but I decided to get it up and started anyways! There is a lot more to come so feel free to stop by often,
Cheers,
Corey
A very good friend and I were having a discussion at a get together where I was telling her a bit about my business and what it is. This led her to tell me about several custom pieces of furniture she has had built over the past few years and eventually to ask me if I might be able to build her a coffee table in a similar style to the others, but still my own creation. Her existing pieces (a dining table and a bookshelf) were made from sanded finished pine barnboard with a dark brown stain so I decided to put a spin on that. This was the result...
This was my very first project. A great friend of the family asked if I could make her a feeder that was the same as my moms (Which quite fittingly my dad built out of some scrap lumber and an old road sign!). I tried to use it as an opportunity to refamiliarize myself with some of the tools that I haven't used as often over the years as well as my dads shop which I haven't worked in since my age started with the number "1"...
Early on in this venture, a friend approached me having seen my first project and asked if I could create a birdfeeder that looked like the Mt. St. Louis church as a gift for her father who is a member of that parish.
