Another deck pour down! Our crew has really hit their stride and is getting so much accomplished despite working in these harsh and wintry conditions!
It was a slow and steady cruise across the harbour for the barge in Skinners Pond today. It had been placed in the far corner so it would be protected from the recent high winds. In order to move it back to the work area, the ice had to be broken very carefully so no damage would be sustained to the barge. It was a successful sail!
We had a very successful deck pour in Skinners Pond yesterday. Big thank you’s go out to Ocean Steel for tying and installing the rebar, Gaudet Electrical for installing the conduit, Schurman Concrete for delivering the concrete, Paul Leclair for the concrete finishing, and of course our crew for the forming!
Things have been very busy at Skinners Pond. Our crew has been driving piles, installing pile jackets, and prepping the formwork for the installation of the rebar for the deck.
We would like to wish all of our crew, suppliers, and followers a very Merry Christmas! 🎄 🎅 ❄️
We hope everyone has a safe and restful holiday!
It was a very successful week in Skinner’s Pond. We mobilized the remainder of our gear (thank you Island Coastal and Shaw’s), launched the final barge piece, and began removing the timber piles from the old structure. Look at those blue skies! ☀️
Savage Harbour is officially ready for lobster season! HUGE thank-you’s to:
- Jason, Craig, and the operators and truck drivers at Chapman Bros. Construction Ltd. who hauled in rock for us the past week.
- Adam Arsenault Welding & Fabrication who had a welder on site every day for weeks helping with the pile installation and the installation of the ladders, fenders, and angles.
- East Coast Metalworks Inc. who had a welder on site helping with the installation of the ladders, fenders, and angles.
- Frank Brothers Machine and Welding who helped us out with a last minute save!
- Cardigan Bearing and Steel who manufactured the gangway.
- The great fellas at Irving Equipment who rented us a second vibro hammer.
- Hydraulic Power Plus 2014 Inc. and Bourgeois Farm - Auto & Marine who assembled our vibro hammer after it arrived from the US and performed continued maintenance on it.
- Livingston Steel Inc. who fabricated the miscellaneous metals.
- Souris Harbour Authority for aggregate supplies.
- East Coast Controls who provided the electrical.
- Our crew, who worked incredibly hard and drove 223 pieces of sheet pile.
And last but not least, the Savage Harbour, Harbour Authority for their patience. Fair winds and a following sea, have a safe season!

All of the pile driving in Savage Harbour is now complete! A big thank you to our friends at Irving Equipment who rented us one of their vibro hammers to use while ours was getting some maintenance done to it, to Adam Arsenault Welding & Fabrication who had one of their welders on site every day to assist with the pile installation, and to our crew who has worked 7 days a week, for months!
There will be trucks on site starting tomorrow, Monday, April 10, bringing gravel for the surface of the wharf. Please be mindful of trucks, heavy equipment, and workers if you are trying to access the wharf parking lot during the next week.

Driving piles on a sunny afternoon in Savage Harbour.
Things are progressing at Savage Harbour. The retaining wall has been poured and stripped and we are currently working on installing the tie rods, filter fabric, and rock. We will then move the crane out onto the wharf to drive the remaining piles.
Demolition is well underway in Skinner’s Pond. The South pier has been dug out and the crew has moved onto the North pier. We have been very lucky with weather thus far, and the ice has been very manageable to work around.
We would like to thank everyone who shared and responded to our post looking for labourers. We have received an overwhelming response for the Skinner’s Pond project and are continuing to review resumes.

It’s a great day to mobilize! A big thank you to Shaw’s and King’s County Construction (as well as our own crew) who were busy this morning loading trucks with barges and boats to bring to Skinner’s Pond. We are looking forward to getting started there next week!
Happy Wednesday! We hope everyone is managing okay after hurricane Fiona hit PEI. We were very lucky to come out mostly unscathed at our job sites. The water rose quite high at Savage Harbour but didn’t cause too much damage. After a bit of cleanup, things are getting underway here. The first pile is set and we received three more deliveries of sheet pile this morning. We have really enjoyed meeting members of the community who have stopped in to our office. We look forward to a successful project!
Things are going very smoothly at our Tobey Dock project in Georgian Bay. Here are some sneak peeks of the new structure!
