Nobel Biocare hosting Dental Implant education for our dentists at the Smiles Corporate Education Center. Sharpening skills and expanding knowledge!

Our clinic managers completed a course on effective communication with patients. They learned about building trust meaningful connections, how to communicate more effectively, and the importance of documentation and follow-ups to enhance patient care.

We're so proud we could help Ashley Callingbull, the current Miss Universe Canada, who will be representing our country at the Miss Universe competition in Mexico next month!

Recently, we helped Ashley get her Smile pageant-ready with a checkup, cleaning, and chairside whitening. Her competition will be fierce, so a flawless smile is important.

Ashley's been a Smiles patient since 2020, when we helped her with some cosmetic dentistry (porcelain veneers and whitening) done by Dr. Alexander Yeh. (https://youtube.com/watch?v=7K2FAxHxip…)

On top of being the first Indigenous woman to be featured in Sports Illustrated, Ashley is an activist for important social issues, like domestic violence, and Indigenous rights. We wish her good luck and all the best next month!!!

Smiles all around as we received these brownies from our friends at Childrens Dental Centre! We’re so thankful for this sweet surprise. It’s always a pleasure working with such a wonderful team that shares our commitment to pediatric care!

This patient was missing his lateral incisor since childhood. There's more than one way to tackle this issue, but after the checkup, Dr. Yeh chose a minimally invasive custom, shade-matched porcelain Maryland Bridge for a permanent solution.

At Smiles, we pride ourselves on providing multiple practical and affordable solutions for patients. The only regret the patient had was that he didn't visit us sooner!

Many people have functional and aesthetic problems with missing front teeth. At Smiles, we've been solving them since 2008!

In this case, the treatment of choice was a beautiful porcelain crown fused to a zirconia bridge. Crowns and bridges are improving every year. Even up close, the difference here is too hard to spot!

🌟 The ONLY Dentist Nominated for a Nobel

As Nobel Prize winners for 2024 are announced this week, we want to look back at the only dentist to be considered for the Physiology or Medicine award. Yes, for some reason only one dentist has come close to a Nobel Prize!

Dr. Leonard Linkow is known as the father of dental implantology, and is the only dentist to have ever been nominated for a Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. He didn’t win, but his contributions to our field are too valuable to ignore.

In the 1950s, when the whole idea of dental implants was still new, Dr. Linkow owned and operated a dental clinic in New York City. There, he came up with breakthrough designs that made implants more stable and long-lasting, and even developed that allowed people to use their new teeth immediately, long before the materials we now use in implants even existed.

Over his career, he performed over 100,000 implant procedures, helping people with missing teeth regain not only their smile but also their confidence. His ideas are the foundation for most modern implants, used in millions of patients worldwide.
Thanks to his groundbreaking ideas, dental implants today are more successful, accessible, and reliable than ever.
